We had James as our waiter and he was awesome and very kind. The drink options were very unique and delish. I loved the menu, it had a mix of all different types of food and flavors. The portions were good, we had some leftovers. Elote: 9.2/10 full of seasoning and flavor. Absolutely doused with flavor. Brussel Sprouts: 10/10 perfect in every way. They were perfectly cooked and charred with lots of seasoning. Mac & cheese: 7/10 it was cooked perfect with a lil crunch but it lacked seasoning, maybe a lil more salt beef tips: 10.1/10 if possible. These were my favorite!!! When it first opened, a reservation was definitely needed, but we've popped in several times at off hours with no problems. Maybe get one if you like to go at traditional hours. Went there for Valentine's Day dinner! They didn't have their regular menu available on Valentine's Day, but I really enjoyed my lemon pepper salmon. The chicken in the pasta was also very well-seasoned. Service was also fast despite they got busy right after we were seated. Brownies were also very good, and the dessert was worth every penny. A great visit for our first time. This is a local spot we have been eyeing since they began construction. Even from the outside you can tell how cool of a vibe it is. The decor is also so fun. Stopped by with no reservation on a Friday as they also had a DJ- we were greeted right away by friendly staff. They did seem surprised by our lack of reservation but were able to find space for us which was very welcoming. The food was delicious & the portions were great! Delicious mocktails and cocktails as well! It is smaller so in the future I will make a reservation but the vibe I get is that it is a very communal space & welcoming. I met up with a friend for dinner at this new restaurant in Minneapolis, I used to work nearby and was thrilled to hear about it. Get there close to when they open to get in and out quick for your lunch break! Service still has some kinks, so be patient with staff. The drink list is unique, so try something fun! The Tulum inspired decor makes it a great place for photos and making you feel like you're somewhere exotic, I loved it! My group had a reservation and was seated right away. But once we were seated no one served us for at least 20 minutes and that was only because I flagged someone down. During this time the host brought over a free appetizer which I'm sure was because we had not been served yet. Once the waiter took our order the drinks came out quickly and then shortly after we got our food. The drinks were delicious! The appetizer we got for free was the loaded fries and everyone said they were great! They were hot and the brisket was perfect. I also order fried green tomatoes but they came out with my meal instead of beforehand. They were crisp and freshly made! As for the entrees- since everyone loved the brisket I got the brisket meal. Unfortunately the Mac and cheese was dry and cold but the brisket was good and hot. My sister got the catfish sandwich which looked great but was actually cold along with her fries. She sent it back and opted not to get anything else. My other sister got the salmon sandwich and she said it was good! She shared a piece with our sister and she agreed. While we were eating the bartender brought my sister another drink after hearing about her sending her food back. She offered to bring my sister something else but my sister declined. Overall, the ambiance and music were great. The food was okay but needs to be served more appropriately and the service needs a lot of work. Love the vibes and artistry of this small restaurant. Let's get to the food. Let's start with the best, the chicken wings were phenomenal. They were fried crispy and they were dry rubbed in lemon pepper, but you could tell the dry rub lemon and pepper was marinated within the chicken batter. Not just some seasoning thrown on. Very very phenomenal. I'm a brussels sprout fein right now and they were not the best ever but far from the worst. Ok now for the brisket, let's make this quick. I will never get it again. Tap In MN is a new eatery located in North Minneapolis. First impression: WOW! This place is so beautiful. I felt whisked away to a different country. The vibes were certainly on point. We were off to a very good start! They have a small parking lot, but street parking is available so that was lovely. We were greeted and seated right away and a server took our drink order. The restaurant wasn't completely full, but they had quite a few folks in during this time. Our server was super sweet but took a while to get us our drinks, take our order, and never came to check on us after our food was delivered. Now onto the meal and drinks. We ordered a mojito and was served... a lemonade with rum? When we asked the server and noted the drink tasted quite off and not good, she stated they ran out of mint. Nonetheless, she said she would get us a new drink and 15 minutes later she never returned. We flagged down another gentleman and he indicated they had not run out of mint and he replaced the drink with an actual mojito. Really appreciated his prompt service! Food: we ordered chicken wings for a starter and read on the menu the order comes with 7. We were only served 5. When asked, she said she would check on it and never returned to our table. For an entree we ordered the brisket, macaroni and cheese and collard greens which came with hushpuppies. Unfortunately, the food was very underwhelming. Everything had a watery taste and really lacked flavor. The hushpuppies were pretty tasty and we did enjoy those! Due to the slow service and having to return our food, it wasn't the best experience. The drinks are good I do recommend getting the rum punch just have them add a little bit more rum. I had the catfish sandwich it was good I wish it was fried a little longer. The Brussel sprouts were seasoned well and not burnt which made me happy. The mac and cheese was the noodles did not blend with the cheese it just was not an hit. I had really high hopes for this place. I'll start off by saying the service was very good. Our waiter really did a good job taking care of us and making sure we were enjoying our meals. Unfortunately the dishes really just weren't up to par. My favorite part of my meal was the Brussel sprouts which was a side in my beef tips. I need the recipe for those sprouts to make myself ! Overall I'd give the entree a 7/10. A little bit on the salty side and I feel like the beef tips themselves could have been softer. The horseman which was a sesame infused Japanese whiskey drink tasted like I was drinking sesame seed oil in a cocktail form. I like sesame and ginger but both those flavor profiles are very strong so you have to be careful to balance them in any meal or drink. That was a 6/10. I also got the hand mashed sour which was simply a whiskey sour with bourbon. Nothing really special but solid. For that I'll give an 8/10 for following the recipe book. The wings were supposed to be Thai basil flavored. Personally they did not taste like Thai basil wings and I've had my fair share of them. I'd say more Cajun. They came out hot but the chicken was rubbery in my opinion which threw me off. 5/10 for those. The dessert was honestly disappointing. Truly lacking in favor. It really didn't give crumble...Because of that I would have skipped the peaches entirely and just had the ice cream which was decent quality. 6/10 for that. Overall D+/C. I went here with a group of six on 1.3.25, at 6:00 PM. I had the elote appetizer, the guacamole, an old fashioned, and a salmon sandwich. I was pleased with my food. Others at the table had mixed reviews on the food, but all the drinks were good. The cantalope margarita was very good. The reason for the 3 stars was the slow service. We were the second table in the restaurant, and we still waited until after apps for our drinks to arrive. The overall experience lasted 2 hours. The server(s) were incredibly nice, there was just no efficiency to the process. There's no doubt more drinks would have been ordered and more money spent if not for the long delays. My advice would be to work on the efficiency of ordering and delivering. read more

We made a reservation over 3 weeks in advance, and when we arrived they said that it was a last minute reservation and needed time to put tables together(party of 12). There was one server, one bartender and one person in the kitchen--on a Saturday night! We are a group of women who get dressed up and go out to celebrate life together once a month and were so excited to support this black business, but really regretted our decision to come here. They were out of French fries(!) and a few other sides, even ran out of ranch dressing for the wings. Everything was SO salty. Our evening was honestly ruined by the food and food service. In all fairness, we recognized that it was not the server's fault--it seems to be a bigger issue here . The owner should have been called to come in or something to help or get more supplies. The cantaloupe margarita and the DJ were the only redeeming parts. They did remove most of our food from the bill, but it's really unfortunate because you only get one chance to make an impression and It's a no for me. read more

A must-try in the Twin Cities! We stopped by about 2 weeks after they opened. I was blown away by the decor of this place. You can tell every detail was curated beforehand. You get a Tulum-inspired aesthetic right in the heart of the Northside. They also took their tome with crafting a great drink and food menu. I asked one of the chefs what I should order, and he said, "you can't go wrong top to bottom" on the menu. I rarely believe that, but he was right. We tried more than 10 dishes and loved all of them. The Legendary Dry Rub chicken wings were a 10/10. I don't usually like Hush Puppies, and I would order these every visit. The cantaloupe margarita was a fave for everyone at the table. It was refreshing and not too sweet. Other honorable mentions; Mac & Cheese, Brisket Loaded Fries, anything with the fried Catfish or Salmon. Tbh you would close your eyes and pick something out and you wouldn't be disappointed. I think north Minneapolis finally has a great place to go eat at! The inside of the restaurant takes you to a different place. The vibe is very chill. The music is on point! The chicken wings are so flavorful and crispy! The deep fried catfish was also crispy and tasted amazing. The collard greens help balance the taste with the meats. The Mac and cheese looked a bit dry, but when you bite into it, it's actually not dry at all. It tastes great!
