Located in a mostly residential.area, the restaurant is cosy. Our server was very good. The great reviews had us so excited, but we were very disappointed. The birria tacos were an embarrassingly small amount, 2 small tacos, for $18. Son said the sauce was more BBQ than birria My pulled.chicken tacos were 3 for $16, so a better portion size, but the seasoning made the chicken taste more like beef. Again, not as enjoyable. The Burger was cooked perfectly, but had no flavor. Husband said supermarket beef had more flavor. The handcut fries were terrific. Cooked perfectly. Came here as a suggestion from a family member. This pub , is very cool and accommodating for large gatherings. Dim lighting and lots of table and chairs for seating . We sat at a booth by the window . I enjoyed the food options, we had steak and cheese eggs rolls , fries . The calamari was a miss for us it had a chili sauce which made it soggy . It was a surreal experience coming here, not due to anything with the restaurant, more so with the fact that most guests were on their way their way to the DethKlok concert just like us... and the restaurant had a definite hipster vibe. Anyway we arrived around...I'd say maybe 4:30 or 5pm. Service was quite prompt as we arrived before the rush. We felt well taken care of...and were slightly distracted by one of the servers who looked shockingly like Kris Holden-Ried. We took our time and ordered waaaay too much food for 3 people, but totally worth it as everything was fantastic. We ordered: Crispy Fried Rice Cake (holy deliciousness) Short Rib Birria Tacos (how do you make drool emoji show up in a review??) Years later Tap and Vine still delivers! This very cool and unique restaurant is about a six minute drive to the Toyota Wallingford Arena and is a hidden gem of great service, delicious food and surprising convenience. It's a tapas bar with small plates but also has a very cool vibe, high quality food and excellent service. We came here to meet a friend and had an enjoyable experience. The food was good and the drinks were tasty as well. We ordered the short rib flat bread, the grilled salmon and the Turkey burger. While the flat bread and salmon were very good, the turkey burger was a bit of a let down. Overall, it was a positive experience. I stumbled on this great restaurant during a business trip to New Haven. The restaurant was comfortable but refined. The staff was amazing, giving me tips to make the most of a fantastic restaurant. I enjoyed a couple Czech Pilsners from their extensive tap list (didn't have any wine, but I'd guess it's just as good). I had a heavy lunch so I chose some dishes that were a bit different from my usual dinner selections, I started with their pickled deviled eggs. The best 2 ways to have an egg combined! They did not disappoint. From there I selected a couple of their sharing plates, neither of which had any major proteins. Next time I go I'll definitely have some part of meat. In any event, their brussels sprouts are to die for, and would be great for a group of friends. My final food was the fried eggplant ribbons. They were sweet and savory. You will almost always be greeted by the owner, Hector when you walk in or see him around at some point of your dining experience which I find incredible. Stopped here for drinks and a bite before heading to the oakdale theater for a show. Did not disappoint. Sat at the bar and were immediately attended to. Great draught selection and a well poured drink to start us off. Decided to split some apps. Sishito peppers, garlic parm wings, and the sticky ribs were all on point and hit the spot. Great find for unique "small" plates (though the portions are not small by any means). We love trying a variety of things and is very reasonably priced to do this. We had the fried rice cake (our favorite!), wings, deviled eggs (special), hush puppies, tenderloin skewers, and the arugula salad. All dishes were exceptionally good! They also have a selection of unique Mocktails, which is nice. Finished off with espresso crème brûlée and coffee. Service is super friendly, and they certainly do not rush you. Tap and Vine has become a weekly staple for me and has consistently provided exceptional food and service. Located on Quinnipiac Street in Wallingford, this restaurant provides a comfortable dining experience with options to dine in their regular dining area, bar/bar area, and in the warmer months, a large outdoor patio. When you walk in you will likely meet Hector, the owner, offering a warm welcome. They offer a large selection of beverages with a rotating draft list, including several options for local beers. In addition to the regular food menu, a specials menu which changes weekly is offered. The staff are knowledgeable and helpful, offering suggestions and recommendations if needed. One of my favorite menu items is the chicken sandwich served with a choice of mixed greens or French fries (Cajun or regular). Pictured below is the crispy fried rice cake which has become another favorite menu choice. It has texture, some heat, and a variety of seasonings which makes this dish extremely flavorful. RACIST. Just walked into Tap & Vine with my daughter, her boyfriend and my grandchild. The restaurant was empty and it was 4:45pm. We asked for a 4 top and she looked around at the empty tables and a reservation book that didn't have a reservation until at least 6pm and told us she didn't have a table for us. We left and then I ran back in, alone, to question the situation and a different person (a man) was at the host stand and I asked for a 4 top and he seemed immediately able to give me a table. I'm white. My daughter, her boyfriend and my grandchild are black. We have been going to Tap and Vine for years now and it truly does get better each time. The food, drinks, and atmosphere, not to mention the friendly and funny staff! I asked if I could have a side of honey mustard and unfortunately, they didn't carry honey mustard. Joe automatically volunteered to make me some. I insisted it wasn't necessary, but that was incredibly kind of him. I continued eating my delicious breakfast burger (try their brunch on Sundays from 12:30-2:30pm!) and a few minutes later, Joe popped out of the kitchen stirring a small silver cup full of homemade honey mustard. What a cool spot in downtown Wallingford! We came early on a Saturday night and had no trouble getting a seat. The parking lot is a bit tight, so you may have to park elsewhere if it's busy. Service was awesome. Our waitress was really friendly and helpful. Her recommendation of the tacos on special was perfect. My wife's salad was good as well. And they have a great selection of CT beers on tap. I thought the dining area was pretty cool. It's an older building with some nice brickwork and hardwood floors. The first time I stopped in was for drinks only. I'm a beer drinker so I was happy with their tap list. I came in for appetizers last Saturday with friends that come here regularly.
