It was our first time at AT and I highly doubt we'll ever go back. The waitstaff was nice but persistent in taking our order. We started with an appetizer of fried mozzarella which came in a block, no sticks, that was basic, but good. Then, my husband ordered the southern fried chicken meal, and I ordered the meatloaf entree. My husband said the chicken was mostly spicy breading, and my meatloaf was very bland. After reading the reviews both of us were disappointed. It looked like the bar area was busy, so we might have ordered the wrong items (maybe bar bites were the way to go?) Either way, it was fairly expensive and the food left something to be desired. Shall not return. read more

Went to Amici Tavern for Happy Hour. Very lively crowd at the bar and more low-key in the dining area. Our waiter, Billy, took our order and then disappeared intermittently. Unfortunately the food was Meh. We ordered the Nachos and Steak Egg Rolls for starters. Both were just okay. Also ordered garlic Parmesan and Buffalo wings. The Buffalo wings were literally burnt. Good spot for happy hour, or just a drink & an appetizer. I've only ever sat at the bar/bar area but they do have a large dining area. All the staff I've encountered are friendly and nice. Love the free popcorn, appetizers are good. Food can be a hit or a miss depending on what you order. I feel that they would benefit from downscaling their menu, instead of offering such a wide variety. Drinks are decent, and the price point of the place is average with the area. She always tells us that she comes to meet up here with some of her other friends so we finally were able to meet up them to check this place out! Atmosphere/Appearance: From the outside this place just looks like a decent-sized house with a small parking lot in the back. You may need to find street parking depending on how many people are hanging out that day. Once inside you're immersed in the family-owned atmosphere, a true tavern feel and it just feels like a cozy neighborhood bar. From the look of the wooden floors, the big windows letting in lots of natural light and the open floor plan, this place just really invites you in and makes you feel welcomed. Service: I can't remember who took care of us, but we sat at the bar and as wanted, our bartender was awesome. She was a pro, made great conversation and it didn't take long for it to feel like she was just a friend hanging out with us as well. Food: I've heard great things about the wings here so that's what I was here for! I got to try the Buffalo and the Garlic Parmesan. Both were very good and straightforward. The flavors were great, but they didn't absolutely blow me away of anything. I'd still come back for these though. Value: It's a tavern so everything is affordable and straightforward. If you're a drinker, you already know what to expect if you going to be having a few while you eat. This place won't break the bank. My husband and I went for a weeknight dinner just the two of us. It was pretty busy for a Wednesday night in both the bar and restaurant, which was nice to see. He was hoping for a steak but neither the regular menu or the specials had steak even though I had seen other Yelp reviews with nice looking steaks. He ordered a steak & cheese and I ordered chicken & waffle sliders. Not being a spice girl, I knew I was not interested in the honey sriracha so I asked for that to be omitted and asked to have the maple bacon aioli on the side. I should have tasted it before I spread it on half my sandwich, as it also had a kick. Instead of French fries I opted for brussel sprouts, which were plentiful and tasty. I expected they would be prepared as they are listed under the appetizers, but they were not. They were just roasted without any toppings. Food and service were good, but I wish the 3 children that ran thru the restaurant repeatedly the entire time we were there (and at one point almost crashed into a server that had food in her hands) had been corralled by their parents as it was not only disruptive, but also dangerous since they were running out into the parking lot. Nice spot for a drink and some apps with good happy hour deals. A little loud and I felt like my seat on the booth was on a roller coaster every time the person seated behind me moved. I've passed Amici Tavern so many times and finally decided to go there for lunch last month. I ordered the Birria tacos and nachos. I was pretty impressed with my birria tacos as they were much better than I expected them to be considering it's not an authentic Mexican restaurant! On the other hand, I was really disappointed with my nachos. The cheese was barely melted and they didn't have regular salsa for me to dip the chips into. My dad liked his burger and fries. My wife and I love it at Amici Tavern. Even better is that it's just a short walk from our house. They have delicious pub fare and many of the dishes have a nice Italian twist. Excellent apps like their nachos and wings. Great burgers and sandwiches too! We love the "Mama & Baby": grilled chicken breast, avocado, crispy bacon, provolone cheese, chipotle mayo, and then topped off with a fried egg. Now that's a great sandwich!! Excellent craft beer selection too. This poor restaurant has been through so many hard times. A couple of years ago, they had a nasty fire in their kitchen. Just a couple of weeks later, the tornado passed through North Haven and a tree fell on them. We were so happy when our favorite neighborhood restaurant finally re-opened the following year. Now unfortunately, this awful COVID-19 pandemic has affected them. They keep on trucking though. They are offering curbside pickup and free delivery. Way to go guys! Their food is still just as delicious for takeout, but we anxiously await the day when we can sit at the bar again as a friendly face serves up a delicious sandwich and refreshing craft brew. read more

I opted for the burger, ok it was a double burger, burger was good though I felt it was missing something. The description stated there was a tavern sauce on it, I didn't taste anything, saw a sauce like substance, but no additional flavor other than the perfectly cooked burgers. Have to admit, I'm all about the sauce. I like a lot of flavors!!! The French fries were very good. Nice crunch with a soft center. Washed it all down with an Aligash White. We were looking for a caterer for our wedding and had heard good things about Amici Tavern. We met with the owner Steve and manager Megan who coordinates all of the catering. They helped us plan out a multi-station menu for approximately 100 people - and they cooked EVERYTHING on site in a huge trailer outside. (The venue where we had the wedding didn't provide catering, so every little thing needed to be brought in, from ice to salt-and-pepper shakers.) We had passed hors d'oeuvres -- mozzarella "shooters" sticks in little cups with marinara, antipasto skewers, melon wrapped prosciutto... steak and cheese egg rolls and fried chicken sliders with pickles. Oh, that was just for cocktail hour. Next we had the "Italian station" that had THE BEST chicken Marsala, plus penne vodka and bolognese and eggplant rollatini (vegetarian option), plus Caesar salad. Next up was a New England station with crispy fried calamari and HUGE shrimp cocktail... plus passed scallops wrapped in bacon and crab cakes. (Are you drooling yet?) Our guests were ready to roll out the door, but wait, more food! Next was the carving station with prime rib sliders and passed ham and cheese croquettes. We had a light dessert of sorbet - I didn't have any because I was too full but I heard it was lovely! And then, because we wanted to ensure that everyone had a snack before they hit the road, we had a "frites" station with different dipping sauces. (Frites are French Fries.) The staff were friendly and attentive... and so easy to work with. I can't say enough good things about Amici Tavern. We were looking for something in between Waterbury and the shoreline. This place has come up a few times so we gave a try. First off, the driveway has 1 entry/exit and cannot fit 2 cars passing. But there is off street parking. We had a party of 6 and, despite a whole diningroom being empty, there was only 1 table that could accommodate us. It was a tight fit, but doable. Fresh popcorn on the table to start is a nice touch. We got waters, ordered drinks, menu looks great; lots of options. My husband got a spiked arnold palmer....lemonade, iced tea, vodka. He said it wasn't good, mostly vodka. We ordered nachos and fried brussel sprouts. Everyone agreed that the brussel spouts were delicious! The nachos would have been great if the chips weren't covered in salt. The chili was perfectly spicy. The guac was delicious. Lots of cheese, but the chips had so much salt, you could see it. By this time we needed another round of drinks, or at least some water refills. Our server was no where to be found. Every water on the table was empty, including the drinks we ordered. By now our dinners were coming out a few at a time. All was looking good. But, 1 person in our party needed a gluten free meal and she discussed this with our server. She ordered tacos and reminded the server to make sure everything was gluten free. Her tacos came with fries. The fries appeared to have a coating or a breading. This usually means they have been floured. Being skeptical and cautious, this was mentioned to the server who argued that she knew they were gluten free. Not taking the chance, we asked for the sweet potato fries instead. The server complied. As meals go, nothing was outstanding. The mac and cheese was very cheesy and tasty. The Cordon bleu was good and the plate was finished. As for the sandwhiches, mostly they were bland. The cuban was dry. The steak and cheese just ok. The California chicken panini, my dinner, was fresh and hot, but I felt like I needed to dip it in something. It needed more flavor. It took a while, but eventually we got another round of drinks. Our server was just not around when we needed something. We did finally order dessert...creme brule and chocolate peanutbutter mousse. Both were pretty delicious. Then we sat with empty glasses, again, and waited about 30 minutes for the server to walk by so we could ask her for the check. All in all it wasn't a bad experience, but it wasn't a fantastic one either. The food wasn't bad, some was actually really good. It just wasnt consistent. The service wasn't great. Great meal! We have been before for a drink and decided to go back for a meal based on other reviews. We were not disappointed at all! We had a difficult time deciding what to eat for dinner. The menu and specials all looked delicious! We started with the empanadas for an appetizer. So good! I had the cedar plank salmon and my husband had the Broadway chicken for our entrees. Both were great and we ate every bite. We had the peanut butter mouse cake and special cappuccinos to top it all off. Definitely recommend!!!! read more

The best way to describe this place is a dive bar that's trying not to be a dive bar. If it were only slightly darker and dirtier you wouldn't question it. In regards to food they have a large burger selection which appear to be their staple but it taste like the kind you buy in bulk that are frozen. We come here almost once a week with our two elementary schoolers. The staff is always kind, solicitous, and patient, even when one of our kids wants a number of "customizations" to her mac and cheese order. We always look to find a table near the one tv that isn't playing sports but rather is playing funny videos to keep our kids engaged so that the adults can catch up on our days. The cocktails are good and filled to the rim. And, we always appreciate the rotating specials menu so there is something new to try each time for the adults. Amici Tavern is a great neighborhood restaurant located in the center of North Haven. The staff is always friendly and the food is very good and consistent. The menu is not too large, but is very diverse. It is a great place to stop in for lunch. I have tried most of the different appetizers and I can say they are all very good. The Southwest style eggrolls, steak and cheese eggrolls, and the On-The-Fence chicken bites are probably my favorite. There is a good selection of draught beer along with bottles and mixed drinks available. I tend to sit at the bar and the bartenders are always friendly, attentive, and good at what they do. The food will arrive promptly and hot. It is always very good. For lunch they have a very good selection of burgers and sandwiches. Last time I was there I had Amy's burger. Its like a plate of nachos on a burger. I would definitely order that again. For dinner they have some very good entrees to pick from. The gnocchi or the shrimp and grits are my usual go-to when I visit there for dinner. My wife loves the grilled romaine salad. Depending on what you order it may be a little pricey, but the quality is top notch. I have never had a bad meal or experience there. There is a deck for some outside seating and the dining room is good sized and can accommodate a larger group without problem. You can order and have it delivered through the usual channels. They also have a catering option as well as a pizza truck with drink packages. I would absolutely recommend Amici's Tavern for lunch or dinner. read more

We decided to do takeout on Mother's Day. Our order consisted of Stuffed French Toast, side of breakfast sausage and side of bacon, Beef Meddalions and cheesecake with strawberries for dessert. The woman who took my order was friendly and spoke clearly. I was happy she advised me that mashed cauliflower was out and replaced with mashed potatoes. The beef was cooked perfectly as requested, medium. The Stuffed French Toast was delicious but they forgot to give us the vanilla whipped cream. The breakfast sausage was standard but the bacon was quite tasty. It was spicy and sugary. The cheesecake was creamy and I asked that the topped be carmelized and it was. Unfortunately, they forgot to give us the strawberries. Unsolicited constructive criticism: Please don't have a "Contact us" tab on your website if you can't respond in a timely manner. Likewise for Fb. I do think it would be advantageous to post the Mother's Day menu on your website. I normally check FB pages and there it was. Most importantly, for people who are on a budget, listing the prices should be a given. That is what I had asked online because when I called, no one was sure and they didn't want to give me misinformation. Side bar: I can't believe the potato skins were removed from the menu. Came across the street to Amici after getting terrible service from Ludal's. Greeted with a packed bar and live music on a Thursday night; awesome vibe. Was quickly served and beer was cold (NE IPA G-bot). Quickly provided a menu and lots of interesting food choices. Soooo, we ordered a variety to sample: buffalo chicken meatballs, chicken quesadilla, cornbread, spinach artichoke dip, and steak and cheese egg rolls. All I can say is DON'T DO IT! Where to even start, Lord Jesus. The spinach artichoke dip wasn't bad, if you were looking for the taste of garlic bread with cheese; and chips were stale AF. Steak and cheese egg rolls were GREASY as hell and chucks of grissly meat inside. Cornbread honestly tasted like they cooked the batter with the plastic wrapper; super plastic taste; gross. Buffalo meatballs were definitely from frozen; probably 8 months ago. I won't mention the spiders crawling on the ceiling....ok yes I will (and picture attached)... This is some honestly vile food that i wouldn't feed to my dogs in fear that I'd be at the vet in the morning. Do not attempt! read more

Happened upon this place on a busy Friday night after visiting the Ireland's Great Hunger Museum. Loved everything about this place: the friendly and capable staff, the energetic but relaxed environment, and especially the delicious food at reasonable prices. The baked salmon over rice dish on the menu rocked my world (and I had a tough time choosing among so many awesome choices) - personally I'd pass on the ribs although they are apparently popular - I just think they do other things better. We got the turkey club, which was outstanding. The mac and cheese entree was a joke at $16.99, we got what I'd consider to be an appetizer portion. Not an entree size. This review is from a thursday night around 830. The steak and cheese egg rolls were bomb! However, $10 for 2 little eggrolls? Lol. The tavern burger was dry, but still good. The french fry portion with the tavern burger was honestly sad. The fries tasted old and were cold to the touch. Unacceptable for a place that wasnt very busy at the time. I dont think the fries were being hot held at the required 135 degrees F before serving. The nachos were very tasty and topped well. Waitress was very nice and attentive. The double door to the kitchen from the dining room was very annoying. Constantly noisy with opening and closing. Heard loud swearing coming from the chefs in the kitchen. I understand chef talk, but make it so the dining room cant hear it. Prices are not too bad. I had high hopes, but was nothing special. read more

I really enjoyed my dinner with my friend at Amici. After a workout, we walked over to the tavern where we were greeted by the super friendly (but not overbearing) staff who sat us and took out orders. It was happy hour so all the apps were half priced. I got the mac n cheese and a salmon salad for my meal. The food came out and although I was not a fan of the mac n cheese, the salad was great and filling. Next time I go there, I'm ordering the onion rings because they looked so good at the table across from me. read more

Our first time here as daughters at Quinnipiac and university of New Haven . We chose the Mediterranean chicken , Beet salad , meatloaf and Caesar salad with steak .
