5 stars from beginning to end. I've eaten at several James Beard winner restaurants and Michelon star establishments and Tanière ranks near the top. A Michelin star is in order! There is no point describing the food because it will change within the week. However, feel comfortable allowing the chef and bartender to bring what they think is best. This is not just a restaurant, it's a 3 hour experience, you will love it.

Honestly I've eaten at many michelin star restaurants and Taniere rivals the best of the best. Great experience, great food. We got the non alcoholic drink pairing and loved having a delicious and creative option since we are not big wine drinkers. Hubby and I both said we'd come back to Quebec City again just to eat here!

I don't even know how to describe this experience in a way that will do it justice. It was an experience unlike any other and we are still thinking about it 2 months later. I recommend the chef's table for a more personalized experience. It's worth the extra $50 to do that. We didn't do a drink package because I really wanted to just have the flavor of the food, but might consider it in the future. Overall, it was one of the most memorable nights of my life with great food, great service, and a gorgeous atmosphere. The night we went, there were 18 courses served. We thought we would not be full with such small portions, but by the end I think we may have left dessert behind. It's amazing. If you're even slightly considering it, just go. You won't be sorry.

It is really really hard for me not to give Taniere a 5 because they GO ALL OUT in terms of immersive environment/experience and service. As in you are literally moved between 3 different gorgeous locations in the restaurant (1 for apps, 1 for mains, 1 for desserts), their are a couple of fun games/tricks they incorporate into the meal (can anyone say locks and keys?), and you even get a multi-page personalized menu at the end that looks like a clue out of National Treasure. In addition to that, the visual construction/presentation of the dishes is GORGEOUS. As in 2-3 Michelin star level looking dishes! The reason I can't give Taniere a 5, however, is once you strip away all the bells and whistles, what matters with food is the taste. And far far too many dishes at Taniere just didn't wow me. In fact, other than an AMAZING absinthe flamed pork belly and cheese skewer appetizer, I'm not sure a single other dish at Taniere made me say "wow, that's delicious!" Most all of the dishes were average to slightly above average. For a restaurant that clearly is trying to be 2-3 Michelin star level, and at a price point of about $200 per person without drinks, you have to deliver on the tastes. The sauces just weren't strong enough, the creams not heavy enough, the sweets not "drool-inducing" enough, the spices not tantalizing enough. As an example, in one dish, you spend about a minute shaving a pepper over a dish on your own, but despite that effort, I couldn't taste the pepper at all (and I was very liberal in my shavings). I'm not sure if the new Taniere is just too new that they haven't perfected their dishes, or more worrying, the chef actually just can't hit peak flavors, but despite enjoying the experience and a couple of dishes, I probably wouldn't go here again (and a place like Legende at half the price is just far more tasty).

My friends and I had such an amazing experience at restaurant tanière. We were amazed at how each dish was carefully curated for each room (yes, we changed rooms at different parts of the course). Each dish tasted fresh and had great flavor. My favorite dish was the caviar with cream on the bottom (it was their signature dish). I definitely recommend the "experience" wine pairing as it really elevates each dish. At the end of our meal, our last server ordered us a taxi, which was very sweet:)

    Every dish had perfect presentation

This is a true food journey prepared by the best. My husband and I love a tasting menu but this was next level in so many ways. The atmosphere of each of the rooms we were able to dine in throughout the evening were intimate and beautiful. The wine and cocktails were unique and paired perfectly throughout the night. I forgot several times that every dish was comprised of only Quebec grown ingredients, which is even more mind blowing. Very grateful to have been there during tomato season as they provided a dish serving 9 completely different tomato preparations on one plate- it will haunt me! This is a must for any foodie and a dining experience we will never forget!

A fantastic, unique experience. I was looking forward to visiting but also a little nervous, as the experience sounded like it might be more style than substance. Fortunately I was wrong, the experience worked and the food was incredible. The meal is split into three phases in three rooms. Each room is unique but great. The first, warm and cosy, the second, a vibrant dining room. The third, a good way to wind down. Food is great, many different flavors and very unique preparation. Some were mind blowing. I was particularly happy with the breadth i]of dishes, seafood, lamb, venison, duck, seemed like a little of everything and it all worked well. I was also happy with the wine pairing but actually envious of my friends who had the non-alcoholic pairing, which showed a tremendous level of creativity and care to meld ideally with the meal. When Michelin makes it to Quebec, easily 2 or 3 stars.

This restaurant is really interesting and it take you the journey in exploring ingredient used in Quebec. Service is smooth and staff are polite. The env is quite artistically decorated with very comfortable seatings. There are many food courses and each course can be paired with an alcohol or non alcoholic drink package. I personally feel don't bother with the non alcohol package because from my opinion, only a few drinks do compliment on the food course and the cost is $85 for the non alcoholic drink pairing. The dish presentation are very pretty and also taste very good at the same time. I like the fact they move you to 3 different area during appetizers, main courses, and dessert phase. So u have different vibes based on what u r eating! But it is expensive and we also get the alcohol and non alcohol pairing, this meal is the most expensive meal I ever had in my life for two! so u better visit this place hungry so u can enjoy all courses with a hungry tummy . I really do enjoy the night and the meal but the bill at the end.. ouch ! but do give it a try!

The eggs were cooked perfectly, the toast buttered and fluffy, the hashbrowns were cooked well and seasoned well which is such a bonus as I find sometimes hashbrowns are lacking a lot. We cannot complain about that. Our server was friendly and very charming. The meal was beautifully paced. The restaurant itself is very noisy. The food itself was disappointing. On the recommendation of our server we started with the carrot doughnut. The doughnut itself was lost under a mountain of ricotta. I would not have known that it was carrot, except that she had told us. We ordered two other starters : I ordered the foie gras pate and my boyfriend ordered the fried oysters. The pate was served on a small layer of sunflower butter, which was unnecessary. The pate itself was surprisingly flavorless. Homemade bread and blueberry jam served alongside was quite good. The fried oysters were completely drowned in buffalo sauce, another green sauce and "blue cheese foam". I would not have even known they were oysters. They were served underneath some cucumbers and peppers and lettuce. For our main course, we shared the blood pudding, which, despite the crazy number of ingredients actually was delicious. It was the best thing we ate. It was served with homemade bacon, a roasted artichoke heart, and some mussels croquettes. Seriously a lot going on. For dessert we ordered the spiced orchard dacquoise. Another complex, and I thought overly complicated dish, that my boyfriend felt worked well. It was presented nicely, and I remembered to get a picture of it. All in all, it seemed like there's just way too much going on in each dish and no particular flavor stands out. Two of the dishes, the fried oysters and the carrot doughnut were just sloppy and smothered. The boudin and the dessert were both beautifully plated, and the flavors worked better as well. The foie gras appetizer was unfortunately bland, and the main ingredient did not shine. Maybe it was an off night? Maybe we didn't order the best things? Evidently, they're doing something right because they've been going for 50 years, but we just didn't see that.
