    Combination Soon Tofu
    Allison H.

I am happy they opened one of this Korean restaurant in this plaza! I quite enjoyed their food and the comfortable seating. The servers were kind and patient. The food arrived hot and delicious. I ordered the Galbitang, Kimchi Fried Rice, Combination Soon Tofu, Korean Fried Chicken (soy) and Bossam (small). My favorite dish was the Bossam. I made a lettuce wrap with the pork belly, veggies, sauces and kimchi banchan and it was A-mazingg!! I liked the soy garlic flavor of the fried chicken but I thought the chicken was a tad bland on the inside. Perhaps more sauce was needed on the chicken. I loved the complimentary banchans! The pickled cucumber and eggplant were my fav! Highly recommend! Great selection of food! Great service! There is plenty of parking. It's a great place to sit down to eat after shopping.

Tang Jip is where my companion took me for my birthday lunch. I've always told him I regretted not trying spicy raw marinated crab when I was in South Korea. He wanted to take me here to try it since he knew I was curious. We came to this location of Tang Jip on a weekday afternoon. I can't speak much for the inside since we sat outside with my pup. But the inside seemed pretty spacious and modern. The outside was breezy and decent amount of space between tables. They took good care of my pup but had limited interactions with us in terms of checking on us. The food came out staggered. We shared the Kimchi Pancake, Pork Bulgogi, and Yangnyeom Gejang. The kimchi pancake was good, tasted typical to others. The bulgogi was also tasty, flavorful, spiced, and well cooked. Now for what I was most excited about, the crab! It was so spicy and well flavored. The texture was super soft almost like jelly. It was hard to wrap my head around but it tasted great with rice. Companion and I both agreed we were fans of the portion size and left stuffed! Tang Jip took over Bowl'd and is a great spot for Korean food in Alameda. Located in South Shore there's plenty of parking. Happy I got to try a new food and celebrate with my companion here.

Ordered Dolsot Bibimbop via DoorDash. I was pleased with the presentation and how it arrived. The beef was savory and the egg was cooked perfectly and I love they packed banshan. My only feedback is that the rice did lack a bit of seasoning and was a bit too overcooked. I think this is something I should have ordered at the restaurant vs takeout. Overall I thought this was tasty and a good value!

I grew up in Alameda and this has always been one of my staples in South Shore. I've always defaulted to getting the bibimbap with beef...and it never misses! Really solid portions and I loved how fresh all the ingredients tasted (bean sprouts, sliced cucumber, mushrooms, carrots, pickled veggies, etc). We also got the seafood pancake (with real pieces of squid) which was also so incredibly delicious (and may have become my favorite), but it was a little more oily than I'd have liked. Make sure you eat some of the bonchon as well (my fav was the fish cake + kimchi) The staff was so nice + the ambiance of the restaurant felt very modern. Definitely will be back!!

I've been to Tang Jip a few times since their change of ownership. Employees have turned over but the food and service has been maintained and improved upon. We always get the Bossam, the Spicy Tofu Soup and the Spicy Pork. Occasionally we'll get the Cheese Corn and The Banchan has also improved with the addition of Eggplant! Also a free fountain soda with Yelp Check-In. My goTo place in Alameda for Korean food...actually there's only two place in Alameda.....

The food here doesn't seem to coming out pipping hot. The Soon Tofu was decent but not boiling hot enough to cook the raw egg. I simmered the egg and broke up the yolk so it got cooked. The kalbi was pretty good. We also ordered the seafood pancake which was pretty good. My cousin got the marinated raw crab. She said it was good. Service was a little slow and basically just 1 guy running around serving us. He said the other server had an accident so it was a little unexpected. The place got pretty busy after 6pm. Our dinner reservation was at 5:30 pm.

Overall I think this place is decent but the price is a little higher than it should be for the quality. There was no one in the restaurant on a Thursday around 7pm. One other party sat down a little after us. It's a trendy place with a large bar area with a large tv that was playing kpop videos. We ordered Galbi, chicken wings, and raw marinated crab. The raw marinated crab was good, that's the main reason we came. I've been craving it awhile. I wish they also offered soy marinated crab. Galbi was decent, it was slightly dry in my opinion but I liked the flavor. The chicken wings were good and there was a decent portion. What we thought was strange was that when we asked for a second round of ban Chan, they all seemed a little old. The potato salad seemed dried out and the radish weren't crunchy like the first round. I think there are quite a few other Korean restaurants I'd pick for dinner but I would object if a friend wanted to come try it out.

The staffs were nice. We were greeted and offered seats right away. What we ordered: Seafood Pancake- It was pretty good, a bit thicker than other places and sauce was okay. Donkatsu- The pork was good and portion was good for the price. Pork Belly BBQ- It was a tab dry and a bit bland. Wasn't my favorite. Banchan- The plates are cute but made the portion of banchan very small. Banchan were good, we had to ask for extra. Would come again if I'm in the area and try something different.

This place was soooo freaking yummy!! Downtown Hayward is glowing up bc of spots like these. My favorite was the Bossam (steamed pork belly) as it tasted super clean but so flavorful. +10 for pairing it with the radish that's included! Their seafood pancake was also super delicious and a must try when choosing an appetizer. We got seated right away on a Tuesday night and surprisingly it was busy but the place was spacious and filled with many tables to sit at.

Came here on a Thursday around 5pm, no wait no crowd, only two other parties came in after of us. This place is a popular chain and they have a location in Concord and Hayward I believe. The bonchon was delicious! I ordered the beef tofu stew with a brisket combo. I liked the soup, but the brisket wasn't my favorite. Definitely nothing too special but you can never go wrong with tofu stew :) This place replaced Bowl'd BBQ which used to be another Korean spot. There's free parking in the shopping plaza.

We came here on a cold summer night and were wamed through and through by the hot noodle soup AND Daniel, our server. He was so kind to help us cut the beef rib away from the bones so that I didn't make a mess of myself. He also told us his favorites, which we'll be coming back for soon! Thanks Daniel!

Wow this place for lunch is amazingly affordable!! So glad we stopped by. John the manager/owner and workers were very friendly & helpful. Great portions for lunch, same as dinner portion, just cheaper! I had Katsu Chicken. Crispy & flavorful. My husband had Pork Belly. It came steaming to our table. He seamed to enjoy his dish too. Can't believe all the sides come with all this too. Armsphere, spacious & good vibes. Definitely, stopping here for lunch again in the near future.

Everett and Jones once had a location in Sacramento many years ago and I used to visit often. I loved their barbecue sauce and still buy it in stores when available. I had that in mind when telling my family, 'Let's go!" I was disappointed with the food when we arrived. The first thing I noticed when our food came out was that the barbecue sauce wasn't as thick as I remembered, it was very runny, it's didn't stick to the mean. I also saw a lot of fat on the ribs, but thought maybe the taste would be good, so we prayed and ate. Unfortunately, the ribs were fatty and tough to find good meat. I also tried the brisket, which was a little fatty but VERY good. I ordered mac and cheese and greens as sides, but didn't like either. The mac and cheese had a bit of charred cheese on top (which I love), but I wasn't impressed afterward. My friend's hot link had zero flavor, just texture, which was strange. I was embarrassed because I had bragged about how hot the links were! Sike! Everyone at the table enjoyed the sweet cornbread. We also loved the mango lemonade. The desserts were outstanding: caramel cake, key lime pie, and pecan sweet potato pie. I highly recommend those! I'd visit again but skip the ribs and links. As a family member said, 'Don't eat your leftovers alone--you might need someone to do the Heimlich if you choke on the fat." jkjk

First of all, my order was TO-GO. And let me tell you... when I got home and opened that bag, I was honestly blown away. My food was packaged with so much care, precision, and pride--it was neat, organized, and handled like it actually mattered. That alone told me everything about the level of service in that building. Candalen--YOU DID THAT. The attention to detail on my plate did not go unnoticed. You treated my food like it was being served in-house, and that speaks volumes about your work ethic and pride in what you do. Aaron--listen... that peach lemon drop??? BABY. That was my first time trying one and it was EVERYTHING. Smooth, flavorful, perfectly balanced--you made that drink an experience all by itself. I will be back JUST for that. And let's talk about the vibe--the music, the energy, the atmosphere--it all came together in a way that made the entire visit feel GOOD. Not just food... a whole experience. But what really stands out is this: It has been a LONG time since I've experienced service this genuine, this intentional, and this excellent. Not rushed, not careless--EXCEPTIONAL. Management, if you are reading this--please understand--you have some powerful people on your team. Candalen and Aaron are the kind of employees that elevate a brand. They are the reason people come back. They are the reason I will be telling others. This wasn't just a good experience. This was the kind of experience that turns customers into loyal supporters. From the menu we saw they were out of beef ribs, smoked chicken, rib tips, no peach cobbler, no banana pudding and no kool aid. I come for their brisket and my friend loves ribs so we went ahead and ordered combo plates to share. Mine was the brisket with a side of collard greens, she had the pork ribs, a hotlink with a side of Mac-n-cheese, & cornbread. For drinks we had lemonade and an Arnold Palmer. I'm not sure what has happened over the last few months but the quality of the food, the service and the expectation to pay and tip up front were very disappointing. The greens, Mac cheese, brisket and ribs were cold. The hotlink wasn't BBQ'ed it was pan fried. Everything tasted like warmed up leftovers and we will not return. For 2 of us to eat it came to $100 and we were not satisfied. The dining room is an attractive space, it was completely empty. The staff was unclear about what we ordered, had to be told to bring our drinks, bartender is also working as server and apologized for his uncertainty. I suggest this restaurant hire and train more staff if they intend to keep their doors open.

Do you like the funk?…read more Our server explained to us the Lao version is more funky and fermented, while the Thai version is more mellow. We went with the Lao version. The Thai iced coffee was delicious and strong! As it should be. It did give me the jitters though because I'm a weak sauce. We were a party of ten and I was able to make rezzies via phone for a Friday evening at 6:30pm no problem about a week beforehand. The kiddos ordered à la carte, and five of us adults had the following: - BMV ultimate papaya platter with Lao sausage, angel wings and crispy pork. Crispy pork was legit, papaya salad definitely had that extra funk. The angel wings were crispy and meaty and my friends loved the Lao sausage. One even said "it's like tom yum soup in a sausage". It was very lemongrass forward which is not my thing, but that's my problem. I feel we could have ordered à la carte and that would have been a better deal than $75 for the platter. Some of it was fluff like the cabbage, rice and pork rinds. - Khao soy soup: Fiancé thought it would be creamy and coconut-y like the Thai version but it wasn't. I did enjoy the flat noodles but they were all stuck together. - Pia pla ka pow (fish with basil): Good one. The fish was moist and flavorful. The veggies were al dente and delicious too. - Sakoo: Unique! I enjoyed the chewy mochi exterior and the savory ground pork filling. It needed a sauce. I just used the chili sauce that was on the party platter. - Laab Gai: This fell flat for me. I'm not a huge fan of organs though. - Nam khao fried rice: One of our favorites! The crispy pieces really made this dish. Would definitely order this again. - Mango sticky rice: Served warm. Very sweet mango! - Purple rice with egg custard: Also served warm. This was ok. - Side of rice: HUGE serving! Unfortunately it was clumpy and hard, which means old. Street parking only. Get the nam khao and mango sticky rice!
