Once again Tampico reigns supreme. I just returned from Tucson and hit all my favorite Mexican restaurants. Oh so good. Sonoran food feeds my soul. Having said that Tampico has my favorites from multiple regions of Mexico and candidly I prefer travel via restaurants. The food is good, not my favorite Mexican food dishes are served at Tampico but the food is decent and is ok price wise, the staff is friendly. It's hard to love a Mexican restaurant that doesn't serve street tacos. It doesn't seem to be "Authentic" it seems much more American Mexican food than Authentic Mexican Cuisine. Check the menu before you go to see if they serve your favorite Mexican dishes. It's disappointing to arrive at any Mexican food eatery to find they don't serve your favorite dish. The food is good, better than average. The staff is always kind, it does get very busy at lunch and dinner time do check wait times too before you head out. The neighbors aren't very savory. Don't leave ANYTHING IN YOUR CAR you will probably loose it. read more

I was hoping for better food...we got Chile Colorado and Nachos and the food was bland and greasy. The Chile Colorado was hard, chewy squares of meat in a thin red sauce that totally lacked any substantial flavor. The nachos (I picked ground beef) were smothered in lots of cheese which is usually a good thing except you couldn't get to the chips underneath very well. The cheese cooled quickly and and was just a greasy blob making the chips and meat underneath inaccessible. Again, no real flavor and poor quality ingredients. Not my kind of Mexican food. read more

I love this place. Everyone I bring to it also loves it. I'm going to do my farewell at work here so even more people can love it. You should come here so you too can love it. The only downside to this restaurant is the shady motel next door. There are lots of weirdos hanging out or around it and I've seen a fight or two across the street. Don't let them or the motel deter you, they always stay away from the restaurant and never bother any customers. The food is great right from the get go with the free chips and salsa. The chips are always warm and crisp, and you get two types of salsa (red and green). The red is actually quite spicy, so don't eat too much at once. My favorite dishes are the carne asada and the chimichanga. Both have a lot of flavor and are cooked well. The carne asada comes with tortillas and it's cooked with green onions that add a lot of flavor to the meat. The chimichanga is fairly standard but it's always hot and the beef actually has a lot of flavor. I've also tried the pollo diabla, which was very good and had a lot of heat. It's cooked in a red sauce with mushrooms. The mushrooms take away from the chicken and sauce though, I wish they would use something else. That dish will leave you sweating, so be careful if you're sensitive to heat. I've probably been here 10 times or more and every single time it has been good. If you're craving some great Mexican, look no further. read more

I've been going to another Mexican restaurant for years and have never found anything better. Tampico has stepped up to the plate and knows GOOD FOOD. Outstanding service, quick service, and incredibly tasty. Not a fan of the motel next door (pretty sketchy) but the folks at Tampico make the experience outstanding and the food definitely makes up for it. I will absolutely go back anytime. 10/10 read more

When they mean spicy shrimp, they mean spicy shrimp. I am a lover of all things spicy. This made my nose run. It has to be habanero based spice. Ordered the #40 and I saw no telltale seasoning to indicate the spice. But the heat exploded in my mouth. You have to appreciate a restaurant that only has one bottle of hot sauce on the table instead of four or five. The red salsa was nice and spicy and the green salsa was refreshing. The cadillac margarita was very strong and I became the designated driver for my friend. The area around the restaurant is nasty so don't leave valuables in the car. read more

We have been going here since they opened. I compare all Mexican food to items that I've had from Tampico.

What can I say, if the waiter is honest, I'm gonna try what he likes. I usually get either Pescado Veracruzana or Carnitas plate. They had neither, but the waiter suggested that teh carne asada plate is the best. Even asked how i wanted it. Started off with some chips and salsa, the tomatillo was nice and the pico de gallo was hot. Both were good. The carne asada plate came and it was scolding hot, it was fresh off the grill. Rice, Beans, Lettuce and tomatoes with Crema on it. 3 fairly large flank steaks with some grilled green onions. The flour torillas were probably store bought "mission" torillas they were not good. Well tasted store bought. I need some home made torts. Flan as heavy and custardy. But tasty. All for $24 including tip. Prety good for dinner. read more

I thought I knew good Mexican food until I walked into this joint. It is SO GOOD. My boyfriend has been coming here since he was a kid and for good reason. Awesome staff, super accommodating, amazing food, stiff drinks and cold beer. I recommend the carne asada! I can't eat it anywhere else now. Come support this local gem!! The food was okay. The service was ok. What wasn't ok was the seedy motel it's practically attached to. There were so many sketchy itchy twitchy tweakers walking around the parking area we were nervous about leaving our car. We also saw sketchy people going in and out of the hotel. For that reason, we won't be going back. The food was just your average mexican food, so there's no reason to deal with that again. We'll just go elsewhere. read more

This was a tough Cinco de mayo for everyone, even Tampico. I feel like someone should have had the forethought that things were going to be crazy nuts during the Covid pandemic, which in this case there was no apparent forethought. I used to live down the road and would come here all the time but hadn't in 7-8 years. I ordered the special which was spinach mushroom and prawn enchiladas. I was going outside my normal few items I'd order at any Mexican restaurant and wouldn't get it again. It had wayyyy too much sauce and not enough filling. Their enchiladas are quite large compared to other places and have a very thick tortilla. My other two family members got the #10 and both liked it but it's a lot of food. I will say their prices have gone up a lot and are a few dollars higher than anywhere else. (What I wanted to get was $21.95 for example) Pretty much anything with prawns or steak will run $18+. The service was still really great but the parking is still terrible. Alfy's has signs all over their empty parking lot saying their customers only, so park at your own risk. They do have blankets for the cold breeze that comes thru when the door fly's open too, which is a nice touch haha. I may come back but wouldn't go out of my way to come in. read more

I love this place. My family and I used to come here and I remembered it and decided to bring my husband. Nothing has changed about the friendly service and the quality of the food and how good it tastes. The chicken is always full of flavor, the chimichanga was fried perfectly on the outside. The chili relleno was not heavily breaded and tasted so great. Rice and beans were great. My husband's pork was cooked really well and had great flavor. If I lived in Everett, I would come back often. But I do know that I will try and eat here as much as I can when I'm in the area. :) read more

Um, I usually don't leave 1 star reviews but the service was really bad for a slow Sunday night. Ordered apps and entrees and everything came out all at once after waiting for 30 minutes. The chicken was very dry and sour. And then we got rushed out after 10 minutes of getting our plates and it was just 8pm. I do not recommend. read more

At first when you see it from the front you think it's must only have 6 tables but the restaurant keeps going and is pretty big. The food is as good as it gets and great service. the bad trying to find a parking space can be a little tough, It is a little run down but that might just add to the Mexican atmosphere. I'll just start with my first impression... It's kinda divey from the outside, and not a ton better on the inside. Historically speaking, for me.. this usually indicates that it just might be a good place to eat mexican food. The 3 strung out tweaker chicks that were leaving the "no-tell mo-tel" next door as we approached the restaurant about made me lose my appetite before entry, but I hadn't eaten lunch. The salsa and chips we started with were fantastic. The chips were warm and very lightly salted, and the salsa... OMFG THE SALSA! It was -actually- spicy! Something EXTREMELY hard to come by in this area. I was totally enamored with this place immediately. I've lived in the states of UT, CO, and CA each for a few years, and while I do not miss those places AT ALL, there's one thing i do miss that they all had and my home (Western WA) seems to lack. Good mexican food. It seems nigh on impossible to get a "smothered burrito" done right around Seattle! Well, last night i had the "2 burritos, enchilada style", filled with chili verde, and i have to say i was VERY pleasantly surprised. They were nice flat, sloppy burritos covered with so much sauce and cheese, i wasn't sure where one burrito started and the other ended. Not like these places round seattle that give you one 3" round monster of a burrito that's dry and filled with... well, "filler" (rice and beans and who knows what other garbage). These were all business. Beans and rice on the side.. as it should be! My lady had a chili relleno (not all that impressive) and a chicken chimichanga which was pretty darn good. The service was OUT-F**KING-STANDING!! Water glasses 1/3-1/2 down were replenished without hesitation. Chips were replenished before the basket was empty. We devoured the salsa so quickly, they brought two dishes of it, rather than one when they brought more chips. Pretty awesome. I wasn't left wondering "where's my food" or "where's a waiter"?. Not even for a brief moment. I was going to give 4 stars, as i've had better mexican food, but this deserves 5, considering the local competition. read more

I'm not a huge mexican food fan. Namely because onions hate me but a friend of mine urged me to try this place out and I wasn't disappointed. I had to order out as I was at work so I don't have experience with the restaurants full customer service but the person who took my order was very polite and pleasant. My order was exactly as I had requested and the portions are huge! The prices aren't the most reasonable in town but like I said they don't skimp on the portions, you could easily get two meals out of much of the menu. I'd love to go back and eat in to check out more of the menu and get a better take on how this place handles itself. read more

Went in on a Monday night with a large party - 8, they were very accommodating and quick to refill beverages and take food orders. I shared beans, chips & salsa, and chicken fajitas with a girlfriend and we both were up all night with the worst food poisoning. The next morning I called to let the manager know what we ate & about the food poisoning.. She responded with 'I haven't recieved any other calls about this.. So I don't think it was us. I've had several dishes, and I'm a huge fan of the carne asada and the chile colorado. The service is always excellent. First things first, this place has no bar. However, I went ahead and sat at a booth. Upon sitting down, I immediately noticed that the place was not very clean. There was dust everywhere. I first noticed it when I looked through my window at the view of Le hotel next door, which looks shady. The blinds were filled with dust. I went ahead and overlooked that and ordered a top shelf margarita. It was a Strong marg, & freagin delicious. They immediately brought out chips & salsa, thats right, dos salsas. The Salsa verde was good, heck both of them were, chips were warm. While I was enjoying my drink, a man came in and ordered take out. He wanted a nacho with no cheese. We have old family friends living up in Burlington and once a year we meet here at Tampico for a reunion dinner. I absolutely love this small family owned mexican restaurant. Not a fan of big chains like La Palmera or Azteca. Restaurants like Tampico are becoming extinct in our depressing economy state. From the courteous staff to the exceptional food, Tampico does it right from the start. I switch between fajita and carne asada, but their spanish rice and black beans are to-die-for. Literally. Not too dry, or overly soft. Just perfect. If you need extra condiments, they immediately jump on it. I'd like to make trips out here more than once a year, so next time I'm up in Everett, I'll be stopping in! read more

Due to their proximity, I've been here well over 50 times. Food: They have some great dishes (Burritos, Taco Salad) and some not-so-great dishes (Chile Colorado when compared to other places.) This is one of the few Mexican restaurants in Everett that I had not been to yet. The service was really good- with the owner or manger (I'm not sure which he was, but he was clearly I'm charge) checking in with every customer and working along side the wait staff. They even brought our appetizer on a cool plate so my 4 yr old wouldn't burn herself. (This is shockingly uncommon. Most restaurants don't think about it, or think toddlers have a +10 to fire resistance.) The food was ok. My carne asada was perfectly cooked, but the rice was bland. My daughter loved her beans, but the chicken from the chicken taco was dripping in sauce- a bit too much for a taco. I may try this place again seeing as how there are so many raving fans. read more

Stopped by with a friend and once again they did not disappoint. They are very friendly and fast. So, if you are in a hurry and want some good Mexican food I would still recommend trying this place.
