Our waitress was very friendly and tried to a good job. Unfortunately that is the only good thing I can say. The place was pretty bare and hot, I mean we were sweating while eating our food. Not too enjoyable. We waited a good while for a drinks which made the heat that much worse. My friend and I each ordered the frozen margarita and we also both got peach mixed with strawberry, so you'd assume a nice frozen margarita would come out with orange and red swirls, right? No, it was not even frozen. And we had to ask that they take the drink off the bill when they made it incorrectly. For food I had the carnitas, however I had to ask for the sides and tortillas that come with it, again strange. My friend had the chicken burrito, it had no cheese inside and was super soggy, she couldn't eat it. Our son's both that the super combo, again just poor quality, their food was burnt and looked like a bunch of slop thrown on a plate. We also tried the queso which tasted strange. I really wanted to like this place but I did not. I will not spend my money here again as I already spent $100 on bad food. I cannot in good conscience recommend this place. read more

Tampico 's was a great place with a great atmosphere good drink prices. The sauce is awesome and don't forget to try their chicken wings and hamburger queso. Hamburger queso is not on the menu so be sure to ask for it. Definitely worth it. Also, a little known fact is that they have some of the best cheesesteaks in the area! I wish I had gotten our server's name because he was so great and so patient. He's young and had a nose ring. When you first walk in the restaurant, you're immediately greeted with a homie hospitality vibe. It's spacious and just looks like my abuelas house but restaurants style. When my party of 3 arrived there weren't many people in the restaurant but by the time we got our food (which came out fast) it got busier. Now the best part of my experience here was to see the young waitress handle 7 tables, without a note pad during rush hour by herself (this wasn't due to a shortage of staff, she was just handling it...I asked out of concern) . She was amazing because it looked like she was really enjoying what she was doing. Everyone got that exact same cheerful, bubbly, intuitive personality from this young waitress. Even the table next to us bragged about how much they were going to tip because of her service. Of course we tip nicely because she was just that good. It's TACO TUESDAY! My all time favorite place to go when I don't feel like leaving the house. The steak burrito is so delicious I can't even explain how juicy the steak is! This use to be a great well managed & well mannered staff. However over the last year or so it's been horribly disappointing. You have bartenders that don't want to serve you based off the tip you leave. (Tipping is optional for one & when a person does tip it's based off service if you don't give good service a good tip shouldn't be expected.) this has happened multiple times was reported to management & owner still nothing was done. I've been going here 10+ years after last situation I will not be recommending them or returning. Food is hit or miss was served spoiled sour cream beef tacos was cold and dry. So my son is getting married and he and his bride chose this place for their rehearsal dinner. 16 people. It's a small place but they had no problem accommodating our party. Chips and Salsa , homemade guacamole were on point. Entrees and drinks were VERY reasonable. I was not disappointed with my fajitas. Maybe not the best I've had but just fine for the price. Tonight my wife and I ordered carryout from Tampico. It was our first time trying it and we were pleasantly surprised. I heard from other people in a group I'm in that their cheesesteak was good but there weren't photos anywhere so I rolled the dice. It was really good. You can tell that it's quality steak and they put a chipotle mayo on it that is really good too. It also comes with fries that were crispy and good as well. I think it's safe to say May 5, 2020 will go down in the books for this business. We ordered online, waited the 20 mins recommended to show up, and a huuuuuge line awaited us. I was like ahh, this has to be the people waiting to order. Hahaha...NOPE. Everyone had already placed an order by phone or online! Truthfully, if it were not for having already placed and paid for my order we would've been OUTTA THERE. Our dedication to enchiladas, chips with guac, and a pitcher of margs cost us an 2 and a half hour wait. All I kept telling myself was that this BETTER be worth it. I was really concerned about the potential cold food. From ordering to finally being at the counter took us a full 3 hours. There had been stacks of orders waiting behind TN e counter, as this business wasn't really prepared for the volume given the Pandemic (can't blame them!) I thought for sure mine was sitting cold and soggy somewhere but mine showed up hot and ready! Unfortunately my order was goofed, got ground beef instead of the shredded chicken, but I was willing to be understanding. Plus it was still delicious. The system they had going to handle the crowd/line was truthfully- poor. However, this isn't a club or typically an out the door line establishment and I can only imagine how short staffed they were. Many kudos to them for making it through that day. I sure hope there were margs to be shared by the staff. Overall I was really happy with the food. Crispy and salty chips with very flavorful guac, $8 and some change and there was plenty of both in a large. My boyfriend got a ranchero style shredded beef enchilada which he cleaned off his plate! I ended up with a chipotle ground beef, and was really happy (could've been spicier but still YUM.) I'm hard to impress over margs, especially when places put sour mix or just unbearable sugar in them, not the case here! Margs were awesome, could taste the Tequila and for the price we were extremely happy! We look forward to going back at a normal time, hopefully to dine in, but would never rule out take out. I ordered online for pickup. But prior to ordering I called to make sure I could get a refried bean enchilada. I was told by the woman on the phone to order a cheese enchilada and put in the notes section that I would like a bean one instead. She asked my name and assured me that my order would be correct. After my spouse picked up the order and brought it home we realized there were no beans and the sour cream and guacamole were missing. When I called and told the same woman that my order was incorrect she said I could come back and get a SIDE of refried beans and chips and salsa. Moved to Laurel yesterday and wanted to find a good Mexican restaurant. My girlfriend thought Tampico Grill might be a good option and it definitely was. My girlfriend loved the steak and shrimp fajitas while I loved the El Pastor combo with a steak taco, chicken chimichanga, rice and beans. Our server was friendly, courteous, and attentive. Tampico Grill, located in Laurel, Md, is a very interesting restaurant. It is where dive bar and tex mex, mexican food intersect. Staffwise, you will see 1 or 2 people running around between the bar and the resturant, but the drinks are very good and food is very tasty-authentic. You dont want to judge this place by its cover or the dirty menus (i know i know). The customer service, alcohol ratios, and rhe food quality speaks for itself. Will definitely go back. Update: tried ordering chicken tacos again with no cheese through grub hub, order was completely wrong, they made ground beef tacos with cheese instead of chicken, drove to the restaurant to fix this (yes too late for grub hub to fix and I actually get my food) and the owner or manager refused to refund my money until his son, a waiter at the restaurant offered to pay for it. There was a lot of back and forth on it instead of refunding for the mistake. Eventually the food order was refunded, not the delivery fee though, but I had to argue 15 min for that. Lame service here at best, screams new management. I've frequented this place since 2017-2018. Not a good look. read more

Gina, the bartender, did a fantastic job in service in terms of perfectly dealing with a minor problem that was resolved to satisfaction immediately. Great margaritas and a really nice happy hour. Got food to go (chicken fajita salad) and it was very good. The really nice thing that I miss from many places today is the personal feel of the service. I came here for the first time last week with a friend and was blown away by the delicious flavors Tampico Grill served up. To start off, the chips and salsa were great; warm chips and salsa with a nice kick. I got a combo plate with rice & beans (good; no complaints), a chicken enchilada (solid seasoning; could have used a little more sauce), and a steak taco (OMG THIS WAS THE MOST TENDER, JUICY, FLAVORFUL STEAK I'VE HAD IN AWHILE!!!!). I also ordered the shredded beef flautas and the meat was also really tender and juicy. I would like to try out some other dipping sauces next time with my flautas order. Verdict: SCRUMPTIOUS! So after years of being in Laurel I FINALLY tried Tampico grill a few weeks ago. I can't speak for anything else but the Steak Burrito with Chipotle sauce.... Idk what they do to the steak but I've literally had the burrito maybe 6 times since then. The steak is PERFECTLY cooked and seasoned and just combined with the beans and cheese in the burrito with the rice is just one of the most comforting meals I've had. I really had high hopes for this place based off of the reviews but I was very disappointed. I'll start off with the positives, service was very good. Our waitress was very friendly and the restaurant seemed to be clean. The food however was mediocre at best. The highlight was the warm chips and fresh salsa. We got an order of queso which was very runny and flavor was just ok. I ordered their version of a taco salad and it was pretty bland and not what I was expecting. My partner ordered the steak burrito bowl and we was underwhelmed. There are a lot of other Mexican restaurants in the area with elevated flavor that I would choose over this restaurant. read more
