Tampico Grill has the best tex mex food in town! I highly recommend the chimichangas, quesadillas, and cheese enchiladas. We also love their guacamole. There are very reasonably priced. We have been having their food delivered while quarantined. I really can't wait until we can visit the restaurant in person so I can have a big margarita with their delicious food! read more

Ordered for delivery due to the Coronavirus. Burrito bowl was really good but the queso seemed to have spoiled. For the theoretically being liquid cheese it should be hard to screw up. But it was absolutely horrible. It's hard to believe they would intentionally send it. That was $6 down the drain. read more

This place is literally across from our community. It's now our go to and we love the burritos and queso dip. We order the steak burrito and bean and cheese burrito with the cream sauce and it's so so delicious! My daughter loves their Spanish rice. They do it right compared to other restaurants around the area. Will continue to order from them when we crave Mexican food. Plus the food always comes fresh and piping hot! The one star off is because our order gets messed up sometimes when we ask for no beans in the burrito because my hubby is not a fan of beans in general. LMAO! read more

Not a fancy restaurant. I would even say the interior is not very nice. BUT the people and the food and the value are great! You can tell they have a loyal following and have been in business a long time. It is a bit of a drive from our house and totally worth it! read more

After my 3rd visit over the past 5 years, I have come to the conclusion that this place is just excellent. Friendly and quick service, very generous portions, tasty food, and the prices are cheap. Had the pick three combo fajitas and was reminded that they do something that I really, really love - they include cut up jalapeños that have the seeds removed as part of the medley of onions and bell peppers that are on the hot plate. The flavor of seared jalapeños can't be beat in fajitas. One other thing, shredded Mexican cheese comes with the fajitas - seems to be a rarity as I never see that anymore. Unfortunately the tortillas are just the packages kind, but everything else was perfect - lots of chicken (delicious), steak (really delicious) and 4 large shrimp, large amount of guacamole, Mexican cheese, lots of great pico de gallo makes this one of the great fajitas that I have ever had. It's now on my radar to come a lot more often than 3 times over 5 years. read more

We came here for the first time around 2 months ago and have been coming back at least once a week since. Really really good Tex Mex, not greasy like most, always very fresh, and good prices. Service is super fast and it's a nice relaxed atmosphere usually with just a handful of people inside. I highly recommend getting either steak or shredded beef. Their chicken is also quite good. Not a fan of the queso, but they have great guacamole. Verde and chipotle sauces are also great. They have refried, black, and pinto beans (all great) and are happy to swap ingredients for whatever you prefer. Best burrito bowls I've had, great enchiladas, and super chimichangas! I highly recommend this place and am sad to be moving away in a few weeks. read more

Tampico is a hidden Mexican gem in Laurel. From the first bite to the last bite we were in Taco Tuesday Heaven. It all started with the free nachos and salsa brought to the table. The fresh made nachos were perfect, not too salty, not too greasy, just right. Salsa was flavorful and delicious. My Beautiful Wife ordered the two taco platter with a soft and hard chicken and beef along with rice and beans. In a word, wow. The flavor the texture, everything on the plate was on point. I went hard and ordered the Tampico Sampler which came with Wings, Chicken Taquitos, Chicken Quesadillas, and Steak Nachos. Wow, wow, wow. I thoroughly enjoyed the platter. I also ordered a hard shell ground beef taco and was blown away by the flavor. Our waitress Erin was really nice and attentive. I am not sure why we haven't visited this amazing little spot before but trust and believe we will be back for more. Do your taste buds and stomach a favor and take a trip to Tampico for some great Mexican cuisine. read more

Sadly, I have to downgrade my review. I made an online order and the experience was horrible. To top things off, the food was terrible. 0 minutes - I receive an email showing my order was approved and processed, and the food would be ready in 35 minutes. 35 minutes - I arrive at the restaurant and call to see if my order is ready. They told me that it wasn't and it would be another 10 minutes. I stay in the car and wait. 45 minutes - I go into the restaurant to pick-up my food. They tell me it's not ready. I figured since they told me it would only be another 10 minutes, 10 minutes ago, I stand near the door. After waiting inside a few minutes I go back outside since people are coming in and out. I eventually go back to the car and wait. 1 hour - I go back inside and ask them if my food is ready. They can't find my food. I tell them I had the order with the chicken chimichanga, 3-item fajita, and queso. The guy asks if I paid. I told him of course I paid, I made the order online. (Duh!) After a few minutes of looking around they hand me a bag. I go outside to check the bag and it didn't include my order; it had the chimichanga and something that looked like mashed potatoes. I go back in and tell them this isn't my order; where's the rest of my food. A different guy tells me that the fajitas are in there because the order included a salad fajita. Mind you there's no lettuce or other salad fixings in the bag, and on top of it I didn't order a salad fajita. I tell them, again, that I ordered a chicken chimichanga; fajita with shrimp, chicken, and portobello; and large queso. I ask them where's the rest of my food and if they lost my order. Now they're looking for my order and the ticket. They find the order information from the register and continue to look for my food. One of the cooks eventually comes out from the kitchen to figure out where my food is. 1 hour, 20 minutes - I finally have my food. I'm angry when I leave because they couldn't even apologize for the snafu. I know things happen, but saying sorry would have made me annoyed and not angry. This story doesn't get any better. I get home and open up the containers. (I took a quick glance before I left to make sure everything was there, but didn't really check to see what the food looked like.) The fajitas consisted of onions, onions, and more onions. There were 3 slivers of bell pepper, 4 shrimp, maybe half a portobello or maybe it was a small portobello, and a few pieces of chicken. The rice with the chimichanga was hard. I also asked that they not add pico de gallo in the chimichanga and they did. The chimichanga was ok - there wasn't a lot of filling in it. In fact, there wasn't a ton of pico de gallo either. So after waiting 1 hour 20 minutes to get my food that according to their email should have only taken 35 minutes, the food was mediocre. Whether the overload of onion in the fajita was done purposefully, I'll never know. All I do know is that I won't be going back, ever. read more

This place has some very good AUTHENTIC food. I visited this place for the first time tonight with my son, boyfriend, parents and siblings and everyone was blown away by the food. We had steak tacos, arroz con pollo, and a variety of nachos. Definitely will be back. read more

Tampico Grill is one of the best restaurants in Laurel! I usually don't indulge in Tex-Mex. Their food is so delicious it's changed my mind. I ordered the Steak Chimichanga that comes with rice and sauce. It's the perfect blend and tastes great! What I love the most is their exceptional customer service. Each time I've visited I am greeted with a smile. They make very good drinks too! This is a quiet spot where you can get a great meal and great service! The prices are fairly reasonable. I'd highly recommend Tampico Grill to others for good Tex-Mex food. read more

I had a "large" three-meat fajitas, and frankly I would have been downright mad had I gotten the small. For $18 I expected a mountain of delicious food (considering most other items are $8-$10) but instead I got just barely enough to make me... not hungry. I should have ordered a couple smaller items, in hindsight. As for quality, I felt that it was pretty "generic" Mexican food; nothing groundbreaking, but also not terrible. For $10 I would have been pleased; for $18 I expected better. read more

I ordered a chicken quesadilla and the large Tampico sampler which came with wings, taquitos, chicken quesadillas, and steak nachos. I enjoyed the sampler with the exception of the taquitos. They weren't nasty but I just didn't care for it. I also ordered a small queso dip with chips. The dip consisted of pickled jalepenos, beer, fresh tomatoes and other spices. The dip would have been better minus the beer. I didn't realize it had beer in it till i ate it and tasted a distinct taste. I then read the menu and realizeded "ohhh, thats what that is". When I left i saw a couple and they had drinks in their hand. I asked them what they were drinking and he mentioned Horchata. I asked him what that was. He said "you know when you eat cinnamon toast crunch? Well it tastes like the milk from that. So I said bet, turned around to get some. When I went in I asked what other drinks they had. He told me Horchata, Tamarindo and Marañon. I decided to try the jugo de marañon and figured, I'll be back to try all the flavors. When I went to pay for it, I handed my card to the older man and he asked if I had cash. I told him no. He seemed to be a bit annoyed and said something about it was a low amount to put on my card. So in my head, i'm thinking you either gonna take this card or not but that's all I got for you. So the lady behind me said, don't worry about it to put the drink on her card and she wished me a Happy New Year. When she said that, he was actually like no, going back and forth and she said, its fine. Now that was very off putting for me. I thanked the lady and went off on my merry ole way. read more

I've lived a few blocks away from this place for years now, and hadn't gotten around to checking it out until a week ago. I've already gotten them twice now, and I know I'll be going a lot more in the future; the food's been great (I especially love their queso dip) and the service has been nice and friendly. We've not eaten here in a long long time; The hotel parking restaurant thing is a bit of a turn off to be honest, but once you walk in the door, the folks couldn't be nicer. I grade Mexican restaurants on their refried beans, and their red enchilada sauce. For dinner, I had the red sauced enchiladas, and a sidecar steak taco. Both were excellent- truly excellent. But, the refried beans were just okay. they're not done in the traditional way- they're more like a tex mex soupy bean thing... which might be what you like. read more

Little hole in the wall. Excellent food which is quite a pleasant surprise: it's located behind the Quality Inn (which is not a nice hotel and that's an understatement). But this place makes up for the whole depressing hotel feeling: Being welcomed with complimentary (warm!) taco chips and salsa.... Nice!! Good quality food. read more

One of Laurel's best kept secrets, Tampico Grill is an excellent hole-in-the-wall for Tex-Mex. Great for Carry Out or dine in. The bar area is cool, too and equipped with a few (small) TVs. Piping hot food, ice cold beverages, affordable meal deals and friendly staff. The free warm chips and fresh salsa are a good touch. $15 goes far here. read more

I came here on cinco da mayo and the line was around the coroner but it was worth it . Even though I had to wait almost 2 hours the food and the manager made up for it with a free drink. (they forgot to put my friends order in) they would have gotten 5 stars. i got the fajitas and ate it the next day the flavors were excellent. ill be back read more

OMG, it was Mother's Day and I had the worst experience with a different food vendor who said they delivered my food, but didn't.. so I ordered Tampico on Yelp instead. The BEST decision I made that day! I ordered the salmon stuffed with crab, rice and veggies and when I say I scarfed the whole meal down without coming up for a breather... I did! It was so delicious. I will definitely be ordering again and you've gained a customer for life. I can't believe I never been to this place when it is right down the street from my house!! Affordable, delicious, authentic Mexican food with generous portions. The carnitas were delicious and huge! Took me three meals total to finish them all.... The chicken quesadilla was good and cheesy. I wasn't overly impressed with the frozen classic margarita, it was too syrupy and strong. The place is 1970's vinyl booths and the staff speaks limited English, as long as you don't go in creating an entirely custom dish, you should have an enjoyable experience. Good find! read more

Cute little Mexican place. We went for dinner Monday night. Place was fairly quiet and quaint. Clean, which I appreciate. I ordered a la carte, soft chicken taco and a Chile relleno. So good! Everything is homemade and delicious. The fajitas are amazing. The shrimp are large, plump, seasoned and cooked to perfection. The steak is tender. Try the limeade....it is refreshing on a hot day. Old hojo's has a second life as a great TexMex place. My family has been coming here for years and it never fails to leave us full of good food, good feelings from a great evening, and a good deal. Great place to take a family, lots of people bring their kids. Has a bar side that serves food if bring around families isn't your thing. They also do online ordering for takeout which we have done. Servings are generous both as takeout and served on site. read more

Great little spot in Laurel. The food is always good but the customer service is what keeps me coming back. I have never ONCE been there where I've had anything other than a happy, smiling waiter/waitress. As for food, I get their tacos and on one occassion thee steak and cheese sub and they are always delicious, filling and affordable. YUM!! We got our food delivered via DoorDash and it came within 30 minutes. I enjoyed the seafood enchiladas, I wish the menu listed exactly what seafood came in the enchilada but it was good so I ate it regardless. The black beans have a little spice to them which I liked and the rice was cooked perfectly. The prices aren't too high which I also appreciated. I would definitely come back again. read more

Another food runner immediately brought us water and chips and salsa. The salsa tasted a little bland and felt like it was missing some salt or some other seasoning/ingredient. We ordered another round but it was about the same. The chips were great. The seafood enchiladas I ordered were flavorful and there was a great spread of guacamole, sour cream, beans and rice. The plates were served hot and the kitchen had the good come out quite quickly which was appreciated. We'll be back!
