Toucan Taco just celebrated their 50 years of being in existence! Once known as Tippy Taco's, the name change came after the franchise agreement expired and the owners decided to rename with a tribute to their pet toucan. We decided to stop by while in the area, and you can either call ahead and do a order pickup, order for a carry-out, or seat yourselves for a table service. We opted to dine-in, and ordered the following: +the San Antonio - comes with two tacos with a choice of protein, a quarter pint of chili con queso or guacamole, and salted chips or tostados; we opted for the bean and the ground beef, which came topped with lettuce, cheese, and tomatoes, in a hard shell (one can opt for a soft shell, too); we weren't asked for a choice between salted chips or tostados, and were automatically given the salted chips (which looked and tasted like broken tostada chips); the refried beans were a little overcooked so it had a hardened film on it; the ground beef was very wet +an extra taco - with the spicy chicken; this definitely had a kick, but the chicken was not even warm +a small size of guacamole - it was stated to be freshly made, but you can tell that it was made a day or two in advance due to the browning color and with its runny consistency There was a bottle of hot sauce on the table that you can use. Unfortunately, the tacos were just not that great; the shells could be more fresh, as it tasted ever-so-slightly stale. The marinades and the seasonings of the proteins were forgettable. The chili con queso tasted okay, but it wasn't smooth and sort of plastic-y, and it was clumpy throughout. Service was friendly, and I loved the retro vibes of this place, with all the parrot/bird decor. I overheard one of the customers saying that they've been coming here for years, first with their grandmother. I'm glad I was able to give this place a try, but most likely wouldn't return. Plenty of parking in their private lot. +private lot for your vehicle

Came into this haunt again for first time in a very long time. I don't get down here much. When I say that nothings change, I mean absolutely nothing. Good or bad. Crisp tostadas and glorious queso. Sunken burrito. Memory lanes. Its just their glory has worn off once you spend time in San Antonio.

No muss, no fuss. We always stop by here every time we're in Laurel. Today I had 3 Beef Tacos, nothing fancy, just what it is, 3 beef tacos served in a basket with a side of Queso.

Had an old friend come back home to Laurel for a visit. We had to take a trip to good old Toucan Taco because he cannot get tacos this good where he lives now. It was a Friday evening, so as we began to eat the place started to get full of customers. My friend was happy to see that the decor of the restaurant had not changed since the last time he had eaten there. I ordered my usual Beef Sunken Burrito with lettuce and tomato, and a medium tub of Queso with tostadas. My friend ordered a Beef Sunken Burrito dinner with refried beans and rice. We also ordered the Beef Enchiladas. The food was as amazing as always. I absolutely love the spicy Mexican gravy. The queso was as mouthwatering as the first time I ever had the privilege to taste it. I had never had the Beef Enchiladas before, and was not disappointed. They were very tasty, and would definitely recommend them. The staff was on the money with our order, and drink refills, and made us feel extremely welcome. Always a good time when I bring a friend to the best taco house in Laurel, Maryland. If you have not experienced Toucan Taco you are doing yourself a disservice.

The gravy is a mexican beef gravy.

Taqueria Los Perez Laurel

Taqueria Los Perez Laurel

My first time coming here, and it was definitely the right choice. Since it was Cinco de Mayo, the…read moreplace was packed. The parking lot is small, and there's no sauce stand--which is probably my only downside. Because of the holiday, the wait was about 30 minutes for four tacos, which was a bit longer than I would've liked. That said, it was worth it. Taqueria Los Primos has always been my go-to spot and, up until now, the best tacos I've had in Maryland--but Los Perez takes the top spot for me. I was a little thrown off seeing the hot sauce come in a plastic packet, but it was actually super fire. I'd come back here all the time. This place could easily hold its own against some of the best Mexican spots in Los Angeles. Highly, highly recommend if you haven't been yet.

The chicken was seasoned well and the carnitas were flavorful, the accompanying sauces - salsa verde y roja were incredible! The tacos were filling and accompanied with limes, cilantro, and radishes. My husband enjoyed both the cabeza and the asada, he especially loved the cabeza as it was very juicy and flavorful. We did pickup from the restaurant, calling the order in ahead was straightforward, and it was ready within 15 minutes. The ambiance of the restaurant is very special, beautifully decorated, with plenty of seating. Would definitely go again!

The special Apple Cider Reposado margarita was good but we didn't taste any of the cider, just straight up tequila but it was good. You can also order margaritas in passion fruit, mango, strawberry, and hibiscus flavors. They get extra points because of the passion fruit flavor. The complimentary chips were okay, but the salsa stood out, it had an authentic/in house made flavor. For the main meals, everyone at the table was satisfied. We had an order of the shrimp and chicken fajitas, beef floutas and the salmon a la parrilla, grilled salmon topped with homemade mango salsa served with mixed green salad, rice & beans. The mango salsa was tasty but I didn't like how runny it was. The staff was friendly and attentive without being overbearing, and the restaurant itself looked clean and well-kept, which made the whole experience more enjoyable. I would come back and try a few other items on the menu. The online menu is a bit different from what we had in person, I didn't see the mussels on the menu given to us in the restaurant. Happy Hour is from 3-7pm. This is a solid spot for a casual night out with friends for good margaritas, authentic touches, and a welcoming atmosphere.

I wouldn't exactly sit down and eat, but to-go, absolutely. I grabbed three tacos (Chicken, carne asada, chorizo). They are served on corn tortillas with cilantro and cooked onions. The cooked onions were a bit different for me as I'm used to the raw diced onions. Oommggg...these tacos were packed with flavor and gave me a sense of an authentic Mexican taco. I can't believe I waited so long to for this place a shot. This will definitely be on my frequently visited spots. On top of all that, the gentleman at the counter was super friendly. That's always a plus.

We were a party of three on a Monday, and there was only one other party of three seated. The rest of the restaurant, a large open space with tables and chairs, as well as booths, was empty. There's a bar to the right side, kitchen in the far back. It's clearly set up for shows, performances, screenings, and/or dancing with a raised stage toward the entrance and a projector screen. The service was very good. The server was friendly, knowledgeable, accommodating, and attentive. There was a small language barrier but we overcame it by rephrasing, repeating, and gesturing. My companions ordered the quesabirria tacos, which they both devoured and raved about. The tacos did look visually stimulating, were served hot, and were a large portion for the price. I ordered the huevos rancheros without beef, and it was tasty but not astounding. The side of beans tasted like a shot of vodka was added in it and tasted terrible. I also ordered tamarindo but they were out of stock. They also didn't have tamal de elote, which was disappointing but not surprising since it's winter. I then opted for the lemonade, which was freshly made and does not come come with free refills. Soft drinks are can sodas, not from a fountain drink machine.
