Tamba Surf Company is a local brand only sold in Kauai which makes giving the clothing line as gifts even more special. Located in a small plaza hosting Holy Grail Donuts and a water dispensary, Tamba can't be missed. Shirts are fairly inexpensive and their style is one of a kind. This place exactly what we needed. We wanted some foam surfboards to go surfing down in Hanalei. We were staying in ka paa. They are one of the few spots in town that do rentals. Service is great shop is very local pricing is very reasonable. read more

One-stop surf stop on the east side of Kauai island, in Kapaa. Been seeing the name on a lot of hoodies, hats, etc. so we decided we needed to at least see what's inside when we saw the large sign off Kuhio Highway. Some really good designs and products. According to the worker, Tamba is a Kauai business - fantastic! I don't surf but my girl is trying to learn how to skateboard so she got some stuff (wheels???) she needed for the board (??????)... I don't know why her board didn't come with wheels already, but dad seems to know what's going on so I let them be. read more

The workers were super friendly, invited my boys to visit the surf shop (seperate entrance) they had fun looking at the surfboards and the cashier gave us a bunch of stickers, my kids were excited for new stickers for their water bottle to bring back to the mainland read more

Easy 5 stars for the products they carry and the aloha customer service... I've had a Tamba shirt given to me by friends who have visited Kauai regularly for years. It's one I always wear to the beach. Its an old print that says TAMBA Kauai Homegrown... I love it. I finally made it to the Garden Isle and wanted to repay my friends by buying them Tamba shirts as well. I got 4 shirts total and the tees were priced at around $23 each. 2 were classic 100% cotton the other 2 were poly blends so they were softer. Not cheap but they are good quality shirts, screenprinted graphics were really nice and you wont find many people on the mainland wearing them. So to me, it's totally worth it... Support local. They also sell hats, boards, leashes, their own board wax, stickers and have board rentals as well. And speaking of board rentals, I had asked the owner if he knew of any place that rented legit bodyboards and he referred me to Kapaa Beach Shop down the way, who rented MS Science bodyboards. I was so happy to find a spot that rented the kind of quality bodyboards I ride at home but was even more grateful that Tamba pointed me in the right direction. That's aloha in a nutshell for me. Just good people. Always looking out for others... I appreciate it and I'll never forget it. Mahalos Tamba! I'll be back soon to buy more shirts... I need a hat too! read more

I have been a customer of Tamba since 2008. Most of the time, I see Saa when I visit. The selection is great and I love the and tees mostly. I have purchased boardshorts, rash guards, hoodies, and stickers as well. Saa really spends the time to speak with his customers and I have gotten to know him over the years. This is a great local shop for clothing, accessories and surf gear. All local designs on the shirts and caps, and they really are nice and quite different from the average touristy stuff you're apt to find elsewhere. We ended up buying quite a bit more than we originally planned but we were happy to support such an awesome local business. read more

Excellent experience renting a surfboard from these guys. None of the Wavestorms or NSP pop-outs that most rental shops stock. You can actually get a proper log, or shortboard, or something in between. Most of them are full of dings, but they're repaired, watertight, and ready to go. When I returned my board they gave it a quick look and sent me on my way-- none of the crazy time consuming inspection I've experienced with other "high performance rental" situations. They gave me some tips on surf spots as well. I can see why people around the world are hyped on Tamba. read more

Omg, got a tip from my local friend that Tamba is the place to go. Great quiver choices fir all conditions and skills!! I teach surf lessons for over 20 years and shaped my own boards, so I'm impressed with their selection. Larry, the to go guy, is easy going and chill as f@ck! Awesome dude! The longer you rent, the better the deal! I ended up rent for two days, giving plenty of opportunities to catch what started pumping on east side when west dude got too windy. read more

Had a good experience with a surfboard rental here. Came in one morning to rent a surfboard, they didn't have many left due to the holidays but I was still able to get a long shortboard that was the perfect size for me. The guy that was working the shop was very nice, and directed me to the closest surf spot, which was at Kealia Beach 1.5 miles up the road. It was a 35min walk with the board. The board surfed well, and I caught a bunch of waves. Brought it back, everything was fine. At the time this review is written, the shop charges $25/day, which is average around the island and not too expensive. read more

Came here recently and bought 2 t-shirts and of course a sticker! This place is laid back but with awesome music played outside and inside. You can't miss that BIG Tamba sign. It's hot in town, but they have a nice AC feel in their store. It's not a big store, but they do carry some really cool products if you're looking to get a souvenir from the islands especially when supporting local companies. They have a nice hat wall and also good selection in men's t-shirts and accessories. I wish they had a little more selection of women sizes that fits a "more-to-love" figure. The sizes they have are little too small. Overall great selection and products for their store. The employee working was very nice and friendly and they have a nice reusable Black/white bags. Need to improve on customer service skills. We asked what they had available on the sales rack and the sales girl just answered "I don't know" and went back to her paperwork. We came here 2 years ago and returned because we wanted to support the local brand and business. But the designs were pretty much the same. Nothing new. And pretty much one design for women on one kind of crop top shirt. read more

I usually get great service here, buy a couple t shirts and a maybe a hat or two, send one back to my brother on the mainland, keep one for my self or kids kine deal. Friendly service usually. Not this day: I asked the young lady if there were any deals on t shirts and she looked me up and down, looked back at her tablet and said "the discount rack is outside, you passed it on your way in" I tried to explain I meant maybe a multiple shirt discount or something in bulk. She ignored me. I took my 10 year old daughter and 4 year old son with me and we spent $125 at Dejah Vu Kapaa. I know it's not much, but it's hard earned for me and my family. Bummed. read more

Stay away from this place!!!! Unprofessional. We came to rent surf boards for our children. They rented us boards but never warned us about brown water which was dangerous on many levels. We sent our kids surfing and ranger stopped us saying it was very dangerous and the surf shop should have warned us. In comparison, we went to another dive shop and they would refuse to rent us anything saying water are dangerous all around the island. read more

Great local surf shop. Lots of hats, tank tops, tees, rash guards, surf boards, fins, etc. They are the only Kauai - only surf shop so definitely give them some love when you're on the island. We bought a tank top and hat for my son - they have kids clothing and even baby onesies too. Easy parking and friendly staff make this a must visit! She had to take an Uber and they sent us coordinates which was weird and she ended up walking a bit because it was on private land. The following is her review: Very cool . would do again. They remembered my name and made sure I had pictures and videos taken of me even though I was there by myself. Very encouraging and helpful on the waterfalls on the island. We did zip lining today and she said she like the waterfall repelling better. So I guess I must endorse these guys, next time I will go as well.

Instead of explaining, he told me I could take $240 or leave. When I questioned it further, he tore up the check and told me to get out and never come back. I was shocked. All i brought with me were my swim fins and an extra bicep leash I had. I was looking for a legit bodyboard rental and the shops I had been to and/or the beach side rental shacks had boards that just werent up to par. I was down the road at Tamba buying tees and the guy there (thankfully) referred me to Kapaa Beach Shop when I asked if he knew of any places that had quality bodyboard rentals. He told me Mike at KBS rented Mike Stewart Science Bodyboards.... The look of shock on my face was probably photo worthy. I couldnt believe the type of place I had been looking for was just down the road. It was already my 2nd time in Kapaa by that point. Kapaa Beach Shop is on your right side along Kuhio Highway if you are coming from the Lihue area. It's right after Chicken in a Barrel BBQ. It has about 4 dedicated spaces out front in its gravel driveway. They rent everything from beach umbrellas, chairs, bicycles, diving and snorkeling gear... You name it. You need it for the beach, he has it. It was jamming with customers the both times I went there but Mike was gracious and helpful with all of us. I was able to rent a hybrid Mike Stewart Science bodyboard which I used at a few beaches on the island. It was great. Thick board with lots of float to it, making catching waves easier. It also came with a Gyroll bicep leash... It was like a setup I would gladly have every day back home. I'm thankful to Mike for the Aloha and just being super cool in providing a quality rental. We chatted it up a bit and you can tell he is legit and really knows his stuff. I HIGHLY recommend you go see Mike at Kapaa Beach Shop for all your beach rental needs. He is the man. Mahalos Mike!
