It feels part upscale restaurant, part members club, part bar, part swanky lounge. My favorite part is the fact that there are different areas with distinctly different seating and atmosphere. When you're stuck waiting for a delayed flight (or just arrived absurdly early in case of traffic), the Virgin Atlantic Clubhouse will keep things from feeling stale. And the separate entrance/security lines? -Chef's kiss- I didn't make use of the spa treatments or Dom, but had a fabulous breakfast and strolled up to the rooftop garden for some sunshine before my transatlantic flight. Now that most airport lounges are filled to the gills and feature the saddest cafeteria-style food, this clubhouse is an oasis and could be a great model for future lounge differentiation. Though this ticket class is a once-in-a-long-while splurge, it made the price feel a little less insane.

Prob my best experience here to date, this was third time attempting entry and my second time…read moregetting access. Reason being relative to the amount of traffic this terminal gets, the lounge capacity is very limited. The waitlist can be up 45+ minutes and it's not guaranteed that everyone on the waitlist can enter before they need to board their flight. This time it appeared they were giving some priority to people who had to board sooner as long as I was willing to share a table with another customer. In this lounge the staff assign seats to each customer which isn't something you usually see, though made sense based on the small size. Since I had only about 15 minutes prior to boarding time I wasn't choosy about comfort, really just wanted to grab a quick breakfast prior to getting on the flight, so this was fine by me. There's a small bar with breakfast selection of the day being "English breakfast" items: scrambled eggs, baked beans, crispy bacon, sausage. They also had some fruit/veg juices, pancakes (via a nifty little pancake machine), a bar with limited alcoholic drinks, and regular coffee/tea options. Functional enough for a quick stop though less comfortable than some other international lounges in terms of space, but still better than many lounges in the US when comparing quality of food.

But not at all for food. I just don't understand as it is always rammed, so they should make enough money to buy good ingredients... Upon presenting my boarding pass, the woman at the entrance said something about my airline status qualifying me for Clubrooms (adjacent to the No1 lounge and owned by them) instead. As I understand it, it's supposed to be a little more upscale and is adult-only with à la carte food ordered from a server in lieu of buffet fare. It was a totally adequate lounge experience; comfortably roomy and nicely decorated. I was there during breakfast and wasn't super excited by the menu but ordered a bagel with pastrami for some sustenance during my flight. It was horrible tbh, but as a NY Jew I admit my standards are a little high. I had a glass of vinho verde as well which was lovely. They did have some self-serve pastries; I had a pain au chocolat that was actually pretty excellent. Would I personally visit again? Absolutely with PP - who can possibly complain about free food/bev and a nice place to relax before a flight. Do I think it's worth paying the staggering £48 for? Certainly not. Food-wise, I think I would have preferred the buffet in the standard lounge (which also happens to be about 10 quid cheaper). Both times, the service and the food was impeccable. Having a truly relaxing lounge makes you feel more well rested during travel, and Cathay Pacific Airways First Class Lounge delivered well beyond my expectations. The decor here is beautiful. Think rich woods, floor to ceiling windows overlooking the tarmac and ficus trees elevating the space. The lounge on both occasions was moderately busy but not overcrowded. The first visit we camped out in a more isolated area and found some great seats with views of the tarmac and helped ourselves to some really delicious bites. I had a delicious smacked salmon finger sandwich, an Earl Gray Panna cotta, and a raspberry cheesecake in a shot glass. Everything was fantastic and tasted like great quality food. I washed it all down with some reduced fat milk, because if you don't know- the milk in the UK is phenomenal! On our second visit to this lounge a week later, we opted for the dining room experience and ordered some soups and fish and chips. Oh my word- this was THE BEST fish and chips I ever had! It was fresh and the batter was crunchy and perfectly seasoned- then the tartar sauce was off-the-charts good! It was tangy, zippy and was hands down the most amazing tartar sauce. I never knew tartar sauce could be this good! I polished off my meal with a strawberry pavlova at the end and it was a perfect meal! The restroom facilities are clean and peaceful. The lighting is low and relaxing. You have to exit the first class lounge and the restroom is shared between both the first class and business class lounges, but both times, the there were no waits and there were plenty of stalls. Overall, I really enjoyed my time at the Cathay Pacific Airways First Class Lounge. It truly felt luxurious and posh. Best of all, I felt like I was rebooted and ready to continue on with my travel refreshed and in a better state than when I arrived. Well done!

They say it's because they're "too busy" but strangely it looks the same as ever - the only difference is now Alaska is flying into and out of Heathrow. It's a good lounge but I can't rate it if I can't use it. Hopefully they get enough complaints that one world gets up in their business about this.

At LHR, the club is larger than most and spread out with more options. The food itself is good / not great / but airline lounge food. They also have all your Coke options with "heaps" or ice if you gone without during your travels. My only gripe about this lounge is related to LHR itself. You have to walk forever to get here.
