English Sirloin on the Rocks
Mich E.

We were staying at the Park Plaza Hotel and decided to come to Chino Latino on our last day for dinner. We got the: Calamari Crispy Duck English Sirloin on the Rock The English sirloin was 10/10! It was juicy, flavorful, tender and just cook perfectly on the rocks. The Crispy Duck was definitely crispy and very good. 10/10 Calamari was good but not my favorite. I would have liked it better if there was some crispness to it. 7/10 Overall, if you have the opportunity to come here, give it a try!

Great decorations, services and food. We're staying at the hotel so we have had a few dines in there. Servers are very courteous, food is high quality, well prepared and nice presented. We'll continue eating here until we leave back home...

Espresso Martini for dessert

Staying at the Park Plaza and had to try it out. Ordered the surf-n-turf roll and seared salmon roll, both were great. Service was on point, friendly and the band was great. And they made my wife an espresso martini for dessert!

+The food was great! My favorite was the Chilean sea bass dim sum app. Everything was well seasoned and perfectly cooked. Their presentation is amazing! All the dishes were just beautiful. -We didn't have reservations, but the hostess said she would try to get us in. The restaurant had just opened, so we figured that maybe it would be full very shortly. Nope, it wasn't. It was still empty by the time we left.

I ate a late lunch at the Chino Latino (inside the Park Plaza Hotel) in London, England on 5/21/2015. It was my 1st time there. The decor is wonderful. My beef burger w/cheddar was 14 pounds plus 1.25 for the cheddar. My lemonade (it was a lemon soda) was 3.25 pounds. The best thing was their Miso Soup (Miso Soup is not Chino or Latino!?!) for 4.50 pounds. My server, Anna, did a fine job. Plus, I took photos.

Good atmosphere and service. Room is dark and well designed. Would recommend for sushi but other fusion dishes are variable and poor value.

I loved their bento boxes because you can do many variety of options and pick and choose as you wish. In my case I had all proteins and few vegetables. Our office has avocados and fruits so I didn't feel that I needed that extra layer of veggies. For 9 £, or under 12 bucks, one can get a whole lot more lunch than one would get, say from San Francisco. I also found the decor surprisingly pan Asia which is neat. This is one of the approachable places you could get by Westminster Abbey, and given how sad and limited the food choices are around here, I would give it a four star - simply it's within walking distance from work and it's what you'd expect from an Asian fusion restaurant.

On most trips, I actually keep a spreadsheet of our itinerary. Normally, this includes where we…read morewill be eating that day. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to do that this time. So, we just decided to eat at places based on where we were at. Since we were around Westminster Abbey, I looked on Yelp and saw Firecracker. It was a few blocks down from where we were, but since I was planning on going to the Tesco Superstore later, it was actually on the way. We found the door to the restaurant and walked in. The restaurant was actually down the stairs. We walked downstairs and saw more than enough seating. The place was pretty clean, albeit a little darker than expected. Not good for the Yelper who likes to take pictures. LOL! We were greeted and seated promptly. They took our order and we waited for our food. While waiting for our food, we noticed there was a room next to us that had a karaoke party going on. Being the only Filipino on earth that doesn't do karaoke, this wasn't a big deal to me. I do, however, like watching people have fun doing karaoke and it looked like everyone was having a blast. They picked some really good karaoke songs (Living On A Prayer by Bon Jovi, anyone?). The food started coming out now. We started off with some Salt And Pepper Tofu. It came on a bed of veggies and was topped with fried garlic and slice peppers. We devoured everything. In fact, it might have been our favorite dish. For our main course, we essentially had a dim sum meal with some noodles throw in. We had Har Gau, Pork and Shrimp Siu Mai, Pork Belly Bao, Char Siu Bun, and Gyoza. We added a little bit more with noodles, corn soup, and Kai Lan with ginger sauce. The Pork Belly was super good and it probably wouldn't been better to order a few more. The other dim sum items were good, but living in the Bay Area, I've come accustomed to eating really good Chinese food. The noodles, soup, and Kai Lan were all good, too. The entire meal, as a whole, was extremely enjoyable. Service here is a great. We didn't have a regular waitress assigned to our table as a few people checked in on us. They were all great though. Being in London, of course they had an English accent. My daughter's loved it! They kept trying to copy them. I guess they channeled their inner Peppa Pig!

Service - absolutely top notch, from the time we entered, to our amazing waiter who was so good at suggesting dishes, and recommending desserts. Ambiance - very cute place, super central in London, easy to get to from subway. Food - omg, the food was so good!! We had Crab Dumplings (!!!), Black Pepper Prawns, Chicken Satay and Spring Rolls, to start. Lovely Negronis for drinks, and then great bottle of white wine. And my main course was Char Grilled aged ribeye, with a side of crispy baby potatoes. There was nothing left when we were done. Amazing meal!

I ordered the Modern Thai set menu and it came with 3 starters - a spicy mango salad, chicken curry puff and black bean shrimp. All were tasty and moderately spicy but nothing was a stand-out. Entrees included truffle fried rice, curry chicken and grilled sea bass. The fish was perfectly cooked, I'm sad I didn't get a photo. Dinner ended with mango and sticky black rice, which was only ok despite its moniker. Not the best Thai/Asian food I've had but it did the job. Decor is beautiful - stunning wallpaper, Asian decor and tableware. Restaurant is quite large and seems to go up forever. Service was slow, we asked for the last few dishes to be brought together and dessert to be boxed up. Again, this is more our fault than theirs and they were more than accommodating which I appreciated.

In a related and very lovely gesture, the server brought me a complimentary mutton roll (with chilli ketchup) and said they usually send something on the house for solo diners :) The roll was delicious -- savoury mutton without a strong game-y flavour that went really nicely with the mildly spicy ketchup. I decided to have an order of the Lankan chicken kari paired with a hopper. I did not know what a hopper was before then (let alone seen one), so it was an interesting surprise when I was served this unevenly thick, bowl-shaped rice pancake. Fortunately, I did not go wrong with this choice, as the hopper was so delicious. The light rice-based flavour of the hopper paired so nicely with the rich, slightly spicy curry and the tender and savoury chicken, and I really liked the textural variety of the hopper itself (thicker, spongier base and thinner, crispier sides). The ratio of hopper to curry was not quite right, though, so I ended up ordering another roti to enjoy the remaining half of my curry and chicken. The roti was really delicious -- fluffy on the inside and perfectly crispy on the outside -- and similarly paired super well in carrying the curry flavour. All in all, price point was pretty solid for the quality and amount of food. I thought the hopper was pricier than expected, but conversely the curry was less so -- so overall it all seemed quite reasonable. I would love the chance to come visit again and try more of their deliciously fragrant curry options next time.

The starters alone are worth a trip, and there were so many I wanted to try, they're actually all I had. Don't judge. They were amazing. The Pumpkin Croquettes were a slightly sweet and crispy version of traditional croquettes, deep-fried to perfection, with a light and smooth finish. Two will set you back a mere £3.10. While the spring rolls are good, I highly recommend the Vegetarian Duck Rolls, made with slightly sweet tofu skin, spring onions, cucumber, and Hoi Sin sauce. Three of those healthy rolls are a whopping £4.60. Finally, the Chicken Yakitori was also a dish worth it's weight in pounds, char-grilled to perfection and doused in a sweet yakitori sauce. A few skewers costs around £4.10. The rest of the menu is not only enormous, but sure to please any seafood-lover, especially sushi. They serve just about any Asian-inspired dish you can think of, including salads, ramen dishes, rice dishes, noodles of many different varieties, tempura, and sushi rolls, with a perfectly-paired sake menu to boot. But really, those side dishes are to die for.
