Braised pork belly with fresh sugar cane, sham mash potato, red onion compote
    Megan S.

The first time I came here (about a year ago), I absolutely loved it - sat at the mezzanine table, which was really cool and felt special, and all the food was fantastic. I returned this week, and while it was still excellent, there were a few imperfections, hence the four stars rather than five. I was using my gourmet society card, which meant we got buy one get one free on a 3 course meal, which is a great deal, though I think otherwise this is really expensive. We had three starters between two of us because we couldn't decide! I loved the crispy soft shell crab the first time I was here; while it was good this time, it was lacking a little something. However, I was blown away by the satay duck breast - beautifully pink and the peanut sauce was chunky and delicious. I would definitely choose this next time! My boyfriend was quite disappointed with the roast duck in a roti - this was filled with bland salad veg, which made it more like a lunch wrap than a delicate starter, and overpowered the duck. I had a beef rendang for my main, which was tasty if not spectacular - I'm not sure I think it's worth £16.95, though admittedly there was enough for me to take away some for lunch the next day. My boyfriend was delighted with his pork belly, which looked moist and luxuriant. Like the crispy soft shell crab, I loved the Tom Yum Brulee last time, but this time it was a bit disappointing - the flavours were rather muted and not as striking as before. The plate was also piled with fruit that was a bit wet and unnecessary. The restaurant itself has a great vibe and looks interesting, with varied art and ornamental details. Things are served very prettily in general - I like details like having the sticky rice in a little basket.

The pad Thai was basically just boiled noodles with no flavor at all. Hate wasting food but couldn't help it

There are also some tabletops near the vendor. The second Mink saw them, I knew we were going to grab food from here. Everyone was friendly and spoke Thai but also very good English. You can dine there or get to go boxes. We ended up ordering Pad Kra Pow with pork. Portion wise, it was perfect and leaves you content. They didn't take long to have our order out. The box smelled great but the taste was AROI MAK (delicious)! It tasted better than places back home in Hawai'i and the price is so inexpensive in comparison. It's not Thailand cheap but it was extremely economical compared to our usual standards. If you're craving Thai and plan to visit Borough Market or nearby, you need to check this spot out!

It was the best thing I ate during my trip to London. I couldn't stop thinking about it. And finally I was able to make my return here. The coconut pancakes are still delicious But they didn't give me a fresh batch. That was the difference maker. But it was still amazing nonetheless. I will request it fresh next time I come again. I was a bit skeptical of their paper container and ordering system, but once I had a sip on that soup... I was in noodle heaven! I've never been to Thailand to compare if this was an authentic Thai food, but I saw some Thai girls eating there and also heard the employees speaking Thai, so I'm pretty sure they are as authentic as I could get in London. I had too many fake Asian-fusion food in London so I was glad to know. I went back there again a few days later but they were closed for Easter holiday. I was so bummed. I'm definitely going back there again when I'm in London again!! Please stay there forever.

Hole in the wall Authentic as hell Cheap and friendly Specialist in a few key dishes Delicious and spicy too Just a few chairs and a table At lunch they do take out lunches of authentic Thai curries on rice and sell Thai snacks and sodas off the shelf. Think amazing green, red and massaman curries for a few pounds on your lunch break from the city. After 3pm the order of the day is BOAT NOODLES. Previously impossible to get this done right in London and now available cheap and easily here and just so perfect too. Their normal boat noddles are simply amazing but for a truly authentic version (if you know what I mean) you'll have to ask hard. Send me a message if you're confused and I'll explain off the record. It's not really necessary as its already better than any Thai noodle soup elsewhere in town without the extra unadvertised ingredients. In fact it's the one thing that can surpass pho and it surpasses the best kingsland road pho easily. You've been told!
