Lovely little mom & pop Thai spot tucked away on the second floor, easy to miss but definitely worth finding. Since it's a bit hidden, it's usually not too busy, which makes it feel extra cozy. the food is made with care by the chef, and the presentation is beautifully done too.

Came here for their $15 lunch special, which is a great deal for this part of the city! The meal comes with an entree and either a soup or salad. Service was fast and the food was good as well. The drunken noodles and pad thai were both good. The restaurant is located upstairs and has a decent bit of seating. We went on a weekday and it wasn't too packed. Would recommend for lunch!

I had been on a Thai Food kick for a while, but I hadn't had any for a year. A friend of mine was visiting from Florida and this place seemed to have solid reviews but it was kind of a "hole-in-the-wall" spot. There's no elevator and the entrance is very unassuming. That being said, any legit New Yorker knows that some hole-in-the-wall restaurants have some of the most slamming food. Tam Mai held the standard. My friend was vegetarian so he had some veggie stir fry. I went with the masaman curry with sticky rice on the side. I washed it down with some Thai Iced tea. They don't have a full bar here, but honestly, you don't need it. You come for the food. Beyond that, the service was all about efficiency. The waitress didn't stand around to chit-chat. She was actually moving very quickly, and I'm not mad at it. Temper expectations on the ambiance and service. Focus on the flavor of the food, and you'll have a great experience.

Food quality and interior kinda gives fast food food vibes rather than sit down restaurant. First time in my life as an avid Thai food enjoyer where I did not finish my pad Thai because it tasted bland .. and missing something The server also rushed us and gave us the bill before our dessert came which I found very strange. We had been there not even for an hour

Tam Mai Thai is in an interesting location. The entrance feels like an apartment entrance but when you go upstairs you find the restaurant. It's a narrow restaurant but they get the job done in their space. I tried the Pad Thai for lunch and it was missing something in my opinion. It wasn't bad but it tasted somewhat bland. Maybe some of their other dishes are better.

The chicken pad thai was good here. for some reason I was expecting the basil chicken to be more like a grad pao which is wasn't.

Such a good find!!! Their lunch special is super good, coming in around $15-$18 depending on what meat you want. Despite the good price, their food quality is so good. I haven't had Thai this good in a while. The drunken noodles are nice and savory without being too salty and the basil fried rice has a Thai kick to it which I find most fried rices don't. I love that they fry basil leaves on top as well. The only thing I wish was the fried rice has more kick to it. The lunch special also comes with a tom yum soup that is good as well. Besides that, the interior is very cute. It's a bit difficult to find though. It's an inconspicuous location and you have to go up a set of stairs before you see the restaurant. Overall, solid lunch deal and very good Thai!

I guess Bengal Tiger moved out and found a much bigger spot, making room for this new Thai restaurant. I am impressed with what Tam Mai did with the space and reconfigured the space for better access as the space is super tight. For drinks we got both the Thai Tea ($5) and Thai Coffee ($5). Both tasted delicious and not overly sweet full of syrup. The coffee will keep you up. For appetizer we tried the Soft Shell Crab Summer Roll (2 rolls) ($19), which is a rice paper wrapping mixed salad with soft shell crab and a side of special dressing. I love soft shell crab, but I would have to pass on this as the crab felt like it was over fried to a crisp. The entrees were a home run. My favorite was off of their new menu item called Pad Pong Karee ($30). This is a stir-fried shrimp dish with their special curry sauce and egg. That curry sauce was really delicious. It's worth packing the sauce alone to use for other leftovers. The other entree we ordered was the Pla Nueng Manow ($33). This was their steamed seabass filet in a spicy lime sauce with fresh garlic, mint, and cilantro. I loved the unique taste of the lime sauce, which surprisingly goes super well with fish. It wasn't really spicy to me, so I would not sweat over that if that's a concern. Of course we had to end with a dessert and got the Mango Sticky Rice ($10). They serve this is the condensed milk in a pouring cup, but the milk was super hot, so we had to let that cool down, otherwise we were burning our hands trying to pour the milk out. This is as good as any other mango sticky rice you can get. Overall this was a great experience. The highlights were those entrees due to its spectacular sauces they used for their respective dishes. I did take the curry sauce from the Pad Pong Karee with me and used it for other meals and it's just as good as when it came out of the kitchen. Would highly recommend coming there if you're in the area looking for a lunch or dinner spot.

Calamari & Spring Roll (3pcs)

As soon as you walk in the decor is very comforting ! It was empty at first but got packed really fast! Stopped in randomly with a friend (she is vegan) but we got fresh juiced watermelon drinks! Super refreshing & tasty! The calamari was super good and left me wanting another round of food. As soon as I finished my curry (pictured below) was FANTASTIC. I could drink that in a cup all day long with no issues. They offer duck chicken and tofu for subs so I went with duck. Come to this place & anything on menu will leave you wanting to come back with a friend just to show off your new favorite Thai spot !

Cute new Thai spot that opened right near Central Park. We stopped by for lunch on the weekend and there were quite a few people there. We started off with the chicken wing appetizer, a little disappointing bc it seemed baked and just came with some Thai chili sauce on the side. Some wings also had a lot of hair on it. Fortunately the entrees made up for the wings. We had the pad kee mao and the south thai curry. The pad kee mao was very flavorful and came with a ton of basil, one of the better ones I've had in the city. The Thai curry was also flavorful. Staff were nice and attentive. They also have a grand opening special where you can pick a card and get a little discount or drink/app.

If you're near 56th Street, definitely check out Tam Mai Thai! It's a bit tucked away upstairs but absolutely worth the find. The food was so fresh and flavorful, we got the Pad See Ew and a bunch of other dishes, and everything was delicious with really generous portions. The service was also super friendly and quick. It felt like a nice little escape from the city noise to just relax and enjoy some great Thai food. Will definitely be back, and it's also a solid option for takeout or delivery!

Mango Sticky Rice

Near the MoMa, you can find this new spot with a menu where most dishes are under $20. In this economy, it's a steal. The service was excellent upon entering - shoutout to the staff member Eddy! The Thai Tea here is so pretty and only $5!The wings were grilled and juicy. The calamari was lightly fried and not chewy at all. The puffs were flaky and hot. And the rangoons were packed with a crabby creamy cheese filling! The curry was mildly spicy, and so creamy and coconuty. The fried rice had a whole crab omelette on top and fresh cucumber on the side. They also have Mango Sticky Rice here for only $10 and it was a classic way to end a Thai meal. It's small inside but very spacious at the same time. This used to be where Bengal Tiger was located!

The pure vida sauce was a herby green with mustard that was so good. There's lots of seating space with clean bathrooms and polite and prompt service throughout. This is a busy location, and all kiosks were being used, so there was a bit of a wait. I placed my order and went to find a seat - unfortunately all the tables in here had some kind of dressing or trash on them, so I had to make due and clean up after the last person who left. My bowl was ready in about 5 minutes or so, was made correctly and had generous amounts of all the toppings I had picked - though the piece of salmon I got was really small and dry. Overall, not a bad place to eat lunch if you're looking for something healthy and don't mind dropping $20 on lunch. None of that here now with 4, albeit generous, seats facing the window: The expectation now is that during the lunch rush, you're going straight back to your desk or, if it's nice outside, sit outside (so a great use of the car-free section of Broadway). I had the Hot Chicken Plate: It was the special for folks with the SG app so I thought, why not. I picked double quinoa, blackened chicken, sweet potato and everything else you can see in my photo. The warm quinoa and the chicken were fantastic: You know SG is making a play for Chipotle's customers by offering what's basically a rice base with a chicken and salad topping. I was not a fan of the spicy broccoli which I found too salty. If you overload your plate with toppings it will easily go over the Chipotle price point: You'll know what's happening now that you have to enter it all in yourself on one of 3 tablets at the counter that divides the public from the kitchen. Can't wait to see the lunch crowd at the new spot!
