Once you're done eating you can check out the mall and the downtown silver spring area. Everything we tried was fresh and flavorful, and the bar is a nice bonus. The setup is really convenient with multiple vendors and a full bar, so it's great for groups, casual outings, or even a quick solo stop. Here's what I tried: * From Mex Taqueria, I had the steak tacos--really flavorful and cooked well. They also have a great Taco Tuesday deal ($1.95 tacos with chicken, chorizo, or steak), which I'll definitely be back for. * Momo Hub had chicken dumplings that were juicy and packed with flavor. * The jerk nachos from The Champs Kitchen were one of my favorites--very well seasoned. * Claude Have Mercy was a standout. I tried the salmon tenders, shrimp sliders, and rum cake, and everything was really good. For drinks, I stopped by C3 Bar and tried the Watermelon Candyrita, Claude's Crush, and an espresso martini (The Commuter). All were well-made and complemented the food nicely. Another plus: select bar bites are $9.99 and cocktails are $10 when paired, which makes this a great option for a budget-friendly outing. Overall, I'd definitely recommend checking this place out if you're in the area. It's a fun, laid-back spot with a variety of food options, and I can see it becoming a regular go-to.

Mixt is an absolute gem…read more I like the variety of food stalls that are available to visitors; La Michoacana is my usual go to as it offers some great Mexican fare. The other stalls offer seafood, burgers, wings, and pizza options. There's 4-6 food options today and have plenty of variety for those with specific tastes. Mixt is a GREAT social venue; it has a huge U shaped bar that easily seats 25+ guests. The weekday and Sunday all-day happy hours offer some great prices on cocktails, beer, wine, and mocktails. The bartenders are always friendly and attentive. Because the bar is so large, I've never had trouble finding a seat for my group of friends. Perhaps the best use of Mixt is as an event and meetup space; I've been to several gatherings and events here and have had a great experience every time. There is a second floor open space which is perfect for a group of 20+ folks. We've also set up impromptu events around the large bar area; there are so many seating options, it was easy to occupy 10-15 seats without monopolizing the space. Mixt also hosts some really great events; we've been for Halloween bingo and Christmas music bingo. They do a really great job of pulling the local community into their space to enjoy food, drinks, and togetherness. Parking can sometimes be tricky -- there is a small free parking garage that fits about 10 cars. If you're not part of the lucky 10, be prepared to park in the nearby neighborhood and walk a block or two. It's not the worst parking, but a larger garage would be useful. Looking forward to my next visit to Mixt!

As of today, my favorite restaurant is Big Fish. I find myself getting their small fish fry over and over again. The meal comes with different types of fish and they are all seasoned well. The service is also quick and friendly. I've been to MiXt for a couple of events in their upstairs area and that space is nice for hosting small or medium sized events. The bar is also a nice touch and the drinks are good. I've been here many times when the bar is packed out and it seems like a great time!! There are plenty of tables and outlets so this is probably a comfy coworking space in the daytime. There are a few parking spaces in the connected garage and there is free street parking in the surrounding neighborhood.

This place has definitely gone downhill since my last visit in DC.... There was no AC at lunch time…read moreand it was pretty empty. But I do appreciate the variety of food and drinks. I also like that you can just order off a kiosk and pick up your order. This time I ordered a poke bowl, for almost $18, it was pretty good. Lots of toppings, not much fish. It was still super filling and the ingredients were definitely fresh and I really enjoyed my bowl.

Several stall doors were broken or wouldn't lock, and one restroom appeared to be used for storage with boxes blocking access. The downstairs area was dirty, with storage boxes stacked throughout the hallways and even a freezer sitting in a public walkway. It gave the impression that back-of-house storage had spilled into customer areas. Another concerning issue was that there was an equipment/server rack sitting wide open outside the restroom, which didn't seem appropriate or safe in a public space. One thing that surprised me was the food hall concept. While it appears to have multiple vendors, they all seem to share the same kitchen, many of the same employees, and much of the same menu. It felt less like independent food stalls and more like a single restaurant operating under different brand names, where you simply order at different windows. The overall atmosphere felt neglected. Many of the employees appeared unorganized and unsure of the ordering process, and the service reflected that. The idea has potential, but the facility needs much better upkeep and organization. Cleaner common areas, properly maintained restrooms, and a more polished operation would go a long way toward making this a place worth returning to.

I have only had the empanadas from Peruvian Brothers only on three occasions, which are hearty and delicious. I typically come here for social dancing when they offer Salsa nights and lessons. The crowd is mixed in terms of beginners to advanced dancers. And people dance different styles of Salsa as well. For example, Rueda de Casino or Cuban Style, On-1 and On-2, and I am sure there are a few other styles mixed in. I personally tend to come when the DJ plays Cuban Timba for Rueda de Casino. It can get crowded, which is fine. The space is well lit, plenty of open space, and the floor is smooth, which makes dancing easier on the knees. There is a filtered water fountain where you can fill up your water bottle. There are a few industrial fans to keep the air flowing. Parking can get challenging. I still haven't figured out all the places to park. I have always lucked up and grabbed a space as someone was leaving. Very fun place to come for dancing or to enjoy a cocktail, hang out and people watch.
