Luna Hall was okay. It wasn't very crowded, didn't have many vendors, and felt a little empty and run down. Not a very nice or cozy ambiance or where I'd want to hang out. The food was quick to get and decent quality, although a little overpriced considering how low key the place is. I visited on a Thursday around 6 PM. The place has a bar and bakery near the front, which I didn't check out. In the back are ~5 food stalls and each has signs for different vendors, but in reality it didn't seem like all the vendors were still operating. It was hard to tell because all the stalls share the same menu and you order from the same place (two tablets near the front). Tonkotsu Ramen (~$16) and Scallion Pancakes with Beef (~$11). They were prepared quickly. I expected the pancakes to be twice as large for the price. They tasted fine, I liked them. The ramen was served with broth on the side and came with pork, eggs, corn, bean sprouts, and a few other bits. It was pretty good but nothing special. read more

I love the idea, I wish it had more tables and wasn't so hot. There aren't a ton of options, but what they have are all great and a decent variety. I love there's a full bar, bakery, milk tea, poke and dumplings. When we got there at 7 pm on a Wednesday there was a police officer at the door. There wasn't one when we left at 8 pm. You need a code to get in the restroom and it's printed at the bottom of the receipt. There aren't a ton of tables, but we got one and there were plenty when we left. It was hot in July, so if you can I'd suggest grabbing and going. However, the tables by the front are cooler than in the back so it's not bad if you find one by the front. Luna Hall was not in the plans, it was late and we were hungry and there was Luna Hall. We entered and the first thing you see is a little lounge area and a bar to the right, as you walk further back you pass by the pastries and then there are several options of Asian food and drinks, everything from boba to sesame chicken, and noodles and more. We ordered and everyone enjoyed their food. It wasn't the best but it was good! I have to add this is in Chinatown so if you order Chinese is authentic. The downfall here is the seating situation is limited, and the bathrooms are nasty. Overall the service at the counter was good. NOW I'm sorry there are no pics! We stopped by briefly to grab a pastry from Tous Les Jour and to check out Luna Hall. There's a variety of six to seven different food concepts in there plus a bar. The bar menu looked like it had reasonably priced happy hour specials. Fabulous new Asian food hall that just came to Chinatown and I think we have a winner! Starting with the bakery, Tous les Jours as soon as you enter you see beautifully crafted Instagram worthy pastries from sweet to savory. So far, I have enjoyed the croissant sandwich filled with sweet cream and fresh strawberries. On week two I had the sugar covered donut filled with strawberry cream and topped with a small strawberry chunk. Both were delicious 5-star deserts soft and fresh. The baked goods are reasonable on average about $5.00. Next vendor, Dumpling District, where I had the chicken fried rice. Pretty basic and nothing I would go out of my way to get. They will not allow you to add chicken and another protein which sucks. The chicken fried rice ran me $17 and I would not order this again. There wasn't a bunch of chicken in the dish. Maybe I would come back for the pan-fried noodles. But right now, the bakery has my heart! Customer service for both stands was polite and responsive. They also have a bar and seating. Food was incredible with lots of options. We stopped in for an early dinner and I had the chicken teriyaki and my boyfriend had a ramen dish. We didn't talk the whole time which you know that means it's good! He had to go work so I came back for a coffee around 4pm and sat in the comfy chairs in the lobby area to work with a lavender latte. Great wifi and friendly people without being too loud. Then happy hour so started so I moseyed on over to the bar. You cannot beat these cocktails and the happy hour special. The bartender, Zab, is awesome, friendly and helpful. We're staying a couple days so I will definitely be back tomorrow! All in all, a great stop. If anything, I'd just say that the bathrooms may need some love but the good outweighs that by far. read more

Not too crowded on a Saturday night - we dropped in for a quick bite before a Caps game. Ordering on the tablet is easy, and they served it up pretty quickly. The pork and shrimp dumplings were ok, and the sweet and sour pork rib was good. The only option for dumpling sauce is a vinegar-based soy sauce I hate. While not a place I would seek out again, Luna Hall took care of what we needed in our limited timeframe, so I appreciate it. read more

Loveeee having a food hall in this area. They just opened a sushi bar at the bar counter area that is well priced ($14 for 2 rolls). I got the shrimp tempura and the spicy salmon roll. The spicy salmon was sooo good and had a nice crunch from something they added to it. The worker was extremely sweet and gave me a piece of crab salad sushi to try, like icon. I went while on lunch break from jury duty around noon on a Monday. It wasn't busy and my food from District Dumplings came within ten minutes. The rainbow dumpling platter was tasty and surprisingly filling. There are many tables for groups and a few are near outlets to charge your phones. There's Wi-Fi throughout. It's been awhile I stopped by a newer DC establishment. Chinatown use to be thriving until it when downhill. So to bumped into this hall was a treat! My nephew caught it while walking to our car. Luna Hall is an Asian food hall that has various vendors on site - Luna Bar, Kung Fu Tea, TKK Fried Chicken, Dumpling District, and Pollo Aria - they will also have a ramen spot soon. There are bar counter seatings, a lounge area, as well as tables throughout the back. Restrooms on the main floor is usually out of order, but there are restrooms down the stairs. It seems as if it doesn't matter if you dine-in, as all your food will be automatically in to-go containers. We came here to check out their Dumpling District, and even though we noted that we would be dining in, ours came out in to-go containers; it was a little disappointing, as we thought it'd come out in the usual bamboo steamers. This place is a hidden gem. A central location that can check off multiple birds with one stone. If you just wanted to grab a drink and have something to eat whether it be dumplings to chicken this is the perfect place to meet your needs. You can have boba tea which is unbiasedly the best I've had worldwide to date. There's an overwhelming amount of options and makes you feel like you have no clue what to get. But you can do as I did and simply choose the one in the picture which is what I did. I still don't recall the name but will include pictures of it. It was with coffee, boba and some other milk base. But the shot of espresso was on the bottom. So it was unique and great. The soup dumplings are an absolute must. The chicken is huge. So if you go, have company you're willing to share with. The portions are great. Definitely get a bang for buck. The service was great, swift and irrefutable to give them top ratings. When they can continue to serve and keep it coming before you can finish it's you as the customer that can't keep up with the service which is always a good thing. Luna Hall is a cool, chill food hall in DC Chinatown that has some chains many are familiar with and brings some extra good, fast and more diverse eats to the neighborhood. Location is great, right next to metro and in the former Vapiano space (next to Walgreens and Motto hotel). TKK is a Taiwanese fried chicken chain and adjoined to it is Kung Fu Tea for that classic boba & Taiwanese fried chicken combo. The chicken is nice and crispy and you should try it spicy. Good sides like curly fries, shishito peppers, and churro sweet potato fries. Dumpling District: Try the rainbow soup dumplings to get a variety of flavors. My personal favorite is the truffle one! They also have other takeout staples like stir fry noodles. I liked the shredded chicken and hot and sour soup. Pollo Aria (Peruvian chicken): I got a chance to try them during a yelp event and it is a tasty choice too! The bar has a creative cocktail menu that includes fun-named drinks that are also great. Some examples: BTS: For sweet cocktail lovers, you'd be surprised it is gin! and it sparkles!, Soju espresso, boba shots! Tony is the best bar manager and very hospitable! He is always improving upon the menu and taking/incorporating customers' advice. There is a happy hour that has $5-6 beer and $10 cocktails. One thing to note is they do not serve water at the bar and you have to purchase a water bottle. It looks like they will add more businesses and host more events here in the future and they are expanding more throughout the DMV so definitely check it out! read more

Location was ideal - directly across the street from Capital one. At 4pm on a Tuesday (over Christmas break) it wasn't busy. We were able to put our dumpling order in easily and order a boba while we waited. Both were delicious and good deals for the price. Plenty of seating for groups and couples. Luna Hall opened sometime in May or June, and according to my friend (who's been at least seven times now), it's still in the soft opening stage. We were able to talk to Tony (the bartender at Luna Hall) while we were waiting for our food, who was really nice and shared some plans he had about Luna Hall -- very cool! The food hall is a cool concept and the interior is super chill and clean, with lots of tables and seating. Currently, there is a bar and four food & drink vendors available: Dumpling District, TKK Fried Chicken, Kung Fu Tea and Pollo Aria. I believe there's poke and ramen stalls opening in the near future. Overall, neat idea and glad to see more real Asian restaurants and food halls open up in Chinatown. Good. So a prior reviewer is right. It seems like there are different counters. But you can order anything from the little kiosks. And it seems pretty fluid in the kitchen part. The kung fu tea was meh. The boba is big and hard. 2 folks had the golden ramen. Rated as good. I don't remember which little substation it came from-ordered from kiosk. 2 folks had pork rib soups. So this looks meh visually. But it was quite good. Very tender w adequate chew. Good umami. Good noodles. Good portions. If they added more green stuff --more bok choi or green onions and regular onions just more vegetables/green stuff--- this could be absolutely amazing! Dumplings were the star of the show. excellent. Didn't get a pic. Gobbled up. There are different areas of seating. From the modern area near the bakery to the bar counter seating to the old style Chinese restaurant seats in the back. We did not try the bakery but saw a baker with a fancy cake walk by. It was gorgeous. The restroom is down a flight of stairs and you need your code from the receipt to use it. one of my purchases was on the kiosk and I didn't get receipt from that transaction. So beware. Thank goodness we had other face to face encounters and hard copy receipts . They were able to serve food that the person with nut and sesame allergy could eat safely. Stopped in for a meal with friends on a Tuesday evening. The security guard welcomed me from the sidewalk! The space is fun and lively, lots of colors and lights. We felt like we were at the mall. We chose the armshairs and low table to recline and dine. It was pretty quiet being a weekday evening. We got scallion pancakes, the medley of soup dumplings, fried chicken and fries and a poke bowl to share. Everything was fresh, fast and ample. Two of us got cocktails which were fun and easy to drink, my friend got a beer. What a cool concept! I visited Luna Hall recently prior to a concert at the Capital One arena. I loved the cafeteria aspect of the hall, but also enjoyed their cool bar and plush lounge area near the front of the facility. I also dug the variety of foods available, from boba tea, to poke bowls, to noodles, to dumplings. Payment was easy and all the staff I interacted with were very pleasant. I love the concept of an East Asian based food hall, but nobody in my party left feeling impressed by our visit. First thing I noticed was the poor ambiance, it was weirdly bright, and the tables were all weirdly sticky. The food was presented as being from different restaurants, but watching behind the counter, it was all just one big kitchen with the employees all pitching in across the entire place. Actually getting your food was chaotic because they just called out your order number, but it was so loud inside that it was difficult to actually hear them. The food was fine really, but nothing stood out. The last thing, after I finished my meal, I threw out all of my garbage, and went downstairs to use the restroom, only to find the door locked with a sign saying the bathroom code was on my receipt, which I had just thrown out. read more

I can't believe I stumbled upon this little gem. So far I've only bought items from the amazing "Tous Les Jours bakery" that is in there. I knew of them in NOVA but they are too far from me, I was so excited to find them here. The hall also has dim sum, poke, ramen, fried chicken, bubble tea as well as a bar. I think this is a great-looking food hall and a great addition to Chinatown, as it adds on to the limited Asian flavors that currently exists. In a way, I see Luna Hall as helping Chinatown retain whatever is left of any Asian heritage. That said, everything in this food hall is an Asian business, except for the Peruvian chicken stall - which unfortunately for me as a South American, was by far the least memorable stall, food-wise, for me. The best stall here has to definitely be the one serving soup dumplings. It's worth it! I would come back again for drinks (yes, there's a bar), to chat things up with friends, and for the soup dumplings if I'm in the area. read more
