Ordered food for pickup. On the way home got a call that they forgot part of my order. Drove back to the restaurant with all the food and receipt and found they forgot two items, not just one. the server questioned me when I said another item was missing, which was totally insulting. Went home again to find they only gave me part of what they forgot. Went back again and asked for a refund for only one out of the six dinners I ordered because we never actually got it. The guy said he couldn't issue a refund for online orders. What? This is now 50 min later of driving back and forth. The guy called the owner. I Had to explain the whole situation to him. After a lot of hassle I was finally given a refund for the dinner we didn't get. It shouldn't be this hard. I will never go back again. What a total hassle and waste of my time. read more

Taiko sushi is by far the best poke bowl in northern California. The chefs are so friendly and they're incredibly generous with their portions. My family comes here once or twice a week and we're never disappointed. Our favorite rolls are Kong's and the Cherry Blossom! You know the place is good when my husband keeps eating my rolls, and he usually doesn't even like sushi! Seriously some of the best sushi I've ever had! I've tried giving this place a chance, but you'd think they'd have their issues sorted out by now. Been there 3 times, once when they first opened, once a few months back, and yesterday. Each time, our order has been made wrong. Wouldn't be the end of the world if it was a one-off or we were dining in, but each time we've ordered it's been for to-go, and driving back and forth multiple times to get our order correct is a pain. The first time, we ordered in person and spoke to someone - got home and discovered they had forgotten to put part of our order in the bag. Second time, they didn't start our order until we got there, even though we had called ahead, and then they put sauce on a roll that we specifically asked not to put sauce on. Yesterday, we ordered online, super smooth system. Or so we thought. When my partner got to the restaurant to pick up the order 45 mins later (which is the time we were told it would be ready), they were just starting the order. Tried being understanding, since it was a decent sized order and we figured maybe they were busy. Then, they messed up a roll entirely - gave us two pieces with octopus instead of a full roll with fish eggs on top. Pretty big difference. They fixed that. At this point, my partner just wanted to get home since had a guest over for dinner and we all had been waiting over an hour to eat. Gets home - discovered that they didn't include our mochi. We call the restaurant and are told "We don't sell desserts anymore." Yet, the online system let us order mochi and it was not brought up at all during the times the order was reviewed and created (and corrected) in the restaurant. I was told that the manager would "have to look into" giving me a refund for the mochi I was charged for but did not get and they would call me. Wasn't told when they would call me, but it apparently wasn't last night. I was told their "entire system was down" so I'm sure they were having some headaches last night, and I'd like to be understanding, but this seems to be their m.o. I'm hoping I'll be able to get the money back for the food we didn't get without too much hassle and will update if I ever hear from the manager. read more

The sushi chef is quite a host! He went above and beyond for my father and I. We received more than we could have thought of and it was certainly an experience! We went during a weekday so it wasn't too busy and we were lucky enough to have him make whatever he wanted for us! It's always better that way, trust me, (for example, you can say, anything but "unagi" or "spicy"). I tried many things I never had before. Very entertaining and pleasing overall. This is the spot for sushi in Carmichael. I come here all the time for poke bowls, but I also enjoy their chicken teriyaki and sushi rolls. I wanted to give them a special shout out today because one or two servers are running the whole floor on a very busy Sunday night. The wait times were longer than usual but the staff was clearly hustling. I was so impressed with how they courteously responded to guests who were over the top and rude (and probably forgot how to be decent human beings after being cooped up in their houses during Covid). All this to say, that this place has excellent food and wonderful service. I'll be back for sure. read more
