I spent a week in Elpaso last month and we were struggling at finding good restaurants which became a competition between me and my cousin. I looked at this place and said nah! Well he went ahead and invited the rest of the family which I was left with no choice but go! We ate from their lunch menu. We got some appetizers to share and most of us ordered the tacos. I opted for the 2 tacos and a soup. Ok... they need to do something about this soup because I was about the start chewing the container! I believe the soup was my favorite! It is so good and disappointing all at the same time! Please add an extra scoop! This is like teasing! Ok rant over lol I want to go back to just order a full blown bowl of this soup

The service is always good, yet another great meal with Taft Diaz. I have had the dinner and now the brunch and I cannot wait to make another reservation so I can visit again. The deco is extremely Instagram worthy and the atmosphere relaxing and inviting.

The food was good. The Stanton breakfast at first seemed really basic but the hash browns were really crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. The pancakes were a little shocking at first. It almost seemed to have a taste of alcohol but they were very good. Not usually a fan of pancakes but these were good. The divorciados had the quesadilla on the bottom and it made a good base for everything on top. Service was quick but we were the only table there so no clue how they are when busy.

We're so glad we dined here. What a pleasant experience and great start to our vacation morning. What a beautiful hotel this is. Our breakfast was perfectly prepared and the staff is very attentive. I say simple and delicious always is the correct way to go. Plus we got a surprise when we got tour the art strewn throughout the hotel. What a beautiful place and their library cozy area inspired me for my home library.

I had been wanting to come here for quite some time and yesterday was the day. I have a series of appointments post eye surgery and they have to dilate my eye so I can't drive. I have an Army pal who is retired and they take me to my eye appointments; in return, I take them for lunch. Kit is a win win situation and I get to catch up on all the news about everyone we knew. This trip, we came to Taft-Diaz. We were seated immediately and waited in- what took long was for the food to come out! They have nice lunch specials that are very tasty and small portions- this is perfect for lunch so you are not falling asleep after. Plating was Pinterest worthy and service was great. The ambiance is great for a nice date out.

I will say this place has a very classy air to it but a bit over inflated. The service was friendly and somewhat quick with drinks but food took a bit considering we were the only people there. I came for brunch and ordered the brunch burger and a pineapple mimosa. I also ordered the chocolate dome for dessert. They were good but not something to write home about. I think it's over priced and could have been better.

Power Lunch- Caesar Salad, Al Pastor/ Tempura Artichoke Tacos & Cucumber Sorbet
Helen H.

We came here on a Monday for lunch, and it was pretty empty. The ambiance is nice at the hotel restaurant. I ordered the Power Lunch- entree with choice of small soup or half salad and dessert. I started with the Cesar salad. It came with a house dressing- black garlic Cesar. I enjoyed it, but there was too much dressing. I went with the Al pastor and tempura artichoke tacos as my entree. I loved the artichoke taco. What I loved the most though was the cucumber sorbet- refreshing! Service was great. Our waitress Desiree was attentive. When it came to the bill, there is a guide for tipping at the bottom. Make sure you don't follow it blindly though. We split our check, but the guide doesn't reflect that...

Taft Diaz was on my radar before visiting El Paso, but I wasn't really planning on dining there. I usually have a pretty good idea of where I'll eat whenever I go to a different city and their menu just didn't really grab me. However, I had a bit of time before leaving for the airport to go home, and was in the area still so I looked up the lunch menu. That's when I noticed they have a "power lunch" for $15 which includes an entree, small soup or half salad, and a scoop of seasonal sorbet for dessert. Uh, you can't really beat that, so I walked over to the Stanton House which is where Taft Diaz is located on the first floor. The door was opened for me and I was greeted warmly as soon as I walked in. The restaurant is a small space towards the back of the lobby, but it was airy and bright. The furnishings are soft and neutral, and I felt comfortable even though it's a higher end spot. For lunch I ordered two tacos: one al pastor and one tempura artichoke, as well as the Caesar salad. The salad came out first and was excellent - I've eaten a lot of Caesar salads in my lifetime and this one was a bit different yet still delicious. The house dressing was savory and I loved the crispy melba toast pieces. The tacos were very small, but packed with flavor and really a great value for this $15 lunch option. The al pastor was a bit different than the al pastor I'm used to - saucier and a bit spicy. The meat was tender and I liked the toppings - pickled onion and roasted pineapple. The tempura artichoke was definitely my favorite! I loved the textures and the flavor of the marinated mushrooms (sidenote, I would eat a taco with those too). The tempura wasn't super crispy but I liked the softer fry on the artichoke. It made me think of a fried fish taco, but a vegetarian take. I overheard one of the servers recommending this taco to another guest so I think it's pretty popular. I'd definitely get this again. Dessert was a scoop of fresh strawberry sorbet - it was a little icier than I prefer, but the freeze-dried strawberries were a nice texture and the flavor of the sorbet was great. Overall I was so pleased with this meal and enjoyed it much more than my food at Elemi. I'd come back in the future for this lunch special specifically, but they also serve breakfast, brunch, and dinner.

"A celebration for your mouth!" is what my daughter called the Taft Diaz restaurant, and I wholeheartedly agree! I chose this restaurant for my birthday breakfast, and it did not disappoint whatsoever! The service was above par, and the food was beautifully presented, and delicious! The atmosphere is relaxing and the architectural style is luxurious. We're already planning our next visit and recommend it enthusiastically!

We were there to celebrate my birthday and the service was good but they took a little long to get our food, considering that the restaurant wasn't busy. The food and drinks were really good, I wasn't a big fan of the dessert we got, I feel like the cinnamon roll was too dry it seemed old or frozen. The ambiance was pleasant!

***209 STANTON STREET INSIDE STANTON HOUSE HOTEl*** SERVICE WAS EXCELLENT! The host and server/bartender were friendly, made me feel welcome, and accommodated my needs and wants. I gave Taft Diaz a three stars because it seems they try to be EXTRA fancy... i ordered the chilaquiles with a side of sausage...I asked for avocado and they put these little dollops of avocado, then I wanted sour cream and they basically did the same thing but in a little cup. Very small eggs on top, which I figured so which is why I ordered a side of sausage. What I did like were the chips they used for the chilaquiles instead of tortillas... I enjoyed the crunchiness. Overall I'd give them another shot based on the service itself. Lavender cappuccino was delicious!!! Try it!

Excellent and stylish restaurant in the beautiful, new Stanton Hotel. Love the menu, fresh ingredients and chef preparation. The soup and salads were outstanding. For main I enjoyed the tacos and my daughter had the chicken. All delicious. Don't miss the interesting wines from Baja Mexico. We had a lovely blend, Ensemble Colina 2016, that was silky smooth with a spice finish ($60). Fun fact, the Baja region where this wine is produced, was where wine was first made in the americas in the early 1600s. They still produce some excellent wine in this region to this day.

The restaurant has a charming French vibe that makes it a pleasant place to sit down and enjoy a meal. I ordered a rosé, but the pour was surprisingly small. It honestly felt more like a tasting portion than a standard glass, which was a little disappointing. For food, I tried the fromage raclette. It was good, but I'm not sure it was worth the $29 price tag. I finished it because I was hungry, but it didn't really stand out or feel like something special. I don't mind paying higher prices when a dish is amazing, but San Antonio really has no business charging that much for something that's just okay. It's not California or New York, and the cost of living here isn't the same, so the value just didn't quite add up. Overall, great service and a nice atmosphere, but the value for what I ordered didn't completely match the price.

They did ask if we had a reservation - we didn't, but we lucked out. Isaac seated us and presented us to Alyssa. She got us our drinks and the kids waters. Now, I'd never say this place is kid friendly, but Alyssa was very kind to them. We ordered a couple of drinks and some appetizers to munch on before Winterfest. They make good drinks. I went with one of my faves, the cilantro and jalapenos margie, refreshing. Liz went with a guava margarita, sweet. The flatbreads were great. Not filling, and a good shareable. The kids split a a BLT. The calamari is also good. Next time I might think about the Peruvian salmon tiradito. It's a classy joint, it's on our go to list to impress folks, and it has never failed us on location, drinks or eats. It's a nice place to take that special someone. Recommend.

I ordered the calamari and the skirt steak. The calamari was very crispy, and came out super fast (like, within minutes). Plate wise, it looks massive, but I could have definitely finished it off by myself. The skirt steak was a different story. It took forever to come out. I was texting a friend from when I ordered to when I received it, and it took 30 minutes. I don't totally understand how since the restaurant barely had any tables... but it was good? In that time though, I didn't know where my server was, and no one has checked in on me so I didn't even know how to ask about my food. Under normal conditions, I think I would be happy with this meal, and would order it again. Would I come back? I think so. The salmon sounded very yummy. I don't think I'd order the calamari again though.

The food was absolutely amazing -- everything we ordered was flavorful, fresh, and beautifully prepared. You could tell a lot of care went into both the menu and presentation. Absolutely loved the bar and hanging pots everywhere. Such a clean restaurant and cute vibe. Our waitress was very nice and friendly to us. So no issues there! For drinks I got their berry lemonade which tasted just like lemon juice. I had to request for sugar to be added since it was so sour so beware. My food had came out and to be honest I'm just a little bit disappointed. The rigatoni was cooked but the sauce for it was really not tasty? Like there was almost not a flavor I can taste. Of course there was something but it was very plain and barely even there. It also was not spicy whatsoever. I added grilled chicken too and oh boy was that dry dry DRY. The burrata personally I'm not a fan in general so of course I wouldn't be a fan this time either but they gave a nice little plate full of it. They added some oiled toasted bread and it was way too crispy in my opinion. My partner got the chicken Parmesan and his dish tasted great! Very juicy chicken and cooked all the way. The sauce was perfect too nice and flavorful and great pairing with the chicken. His butter noodles were just like regular butter noodles so not bad. Finally the crème brûlée. Probably the most disappointing dish we ordered. It took repeated stabs to break the sugar glaze on top. Me and my partner were honestly thinking that they added the cream on top to hide how burnt it was actually. Unfortunately because the glaze was so thick and burnt it made the rest of the cream taste have the burnt flavor. It was sad because my partner was looking forward to this desert. Also took wayyy longer to arrive than our entrées. I will say that the waitress was very helpful and she actually covered the crème Brulé. I didn't even ask she just offered, I think she could tell that we didn't enjoy it and I had nicely told her it wasn't what we were expecting so thank you sincerely. Overall I think this is a perfect spot to maybe try drinks and hang with friends. Food was okay, wouldn't try it again in that regard but overall a decent spot here in El Paso if you're looking for something new. Maybe best to ask what's their best dish to serve. Overall thank you.
