The food however is lacking... we order a starter plate of bone marrow and mussels, while the flavor was great the marrow had about half a teaspoon of it and the price is a bit high for the amount served. I order an Italian roll, that one was really good, no complaints on that one. My wife got the Diaz burger, it was really bland and cold... the fries where meh. The 2 slices of bread they server initially, while the bread was good the butter was still cold that you couldn't even spread it without destroying the bread. Honestly-- I was pretty disappointed in our visit to Taft Diaz. We are staying in the hotel-- which has been fabulous. So of course I had high hopes for the restaurant. For the cost-- the food just didn't do it for me. We ordered a cheese and provisions appetizer-- it was ok. Nothing special. For $29 dollars I expected more than 4 cheeses and peppers. We also ordered 2 tacos just to try some other things. Don't get me wrong-- I love spicy foods, but truly all I could taste was the heat. Both tacos-- which were different-- ultimately tasted the same. I just wasn't impressed. So I thought-- maybe dessert can redeem this whole experience. No knock on Mamacita's down the street, as we did not eat there. Too crowded. But for the same exact price, the Huevos Rancheros here was the best I've ever tasted. I was there like two years ago and loved it. There's not a lot of modern fine dining restaurants like this in El Paso. I took my parents there and it was quite a nice experience for them yet. Most Incredible Food in El Paso with an amazing atmosphere!! I had the artichoke taco as an appetizer which was so delicious! I don't recommend sharing as you will want the taco to yourself. There were so many unique dishes to choose from but I got the Salt Crusted Beet Entree. It was unique but made me think I have was eating in cities like NY or San Fran. Michael, the Chef came out and checked on us to make sure we were enjoying our food which was a nice touch. Our Server Cameron was funny and attentive. Most people never take the time to leave a good review when they have positive experiences. Taft Diaz was a pleasant surprise, both culinary and cocktail wise. Initially the service at the bar was a little slow but I notice they were crafting cocktails and these take time. The menu is well balanced, vegetarian options are flavorful and they have trout and escolar which its rarely found at El Paso Restaurants. The combination of flavors and textures on each dish makes you want to prolong the experience as much a possible. I am coming back very soon again. I was staying at the hotel here, and came down for a late meal. I sat at the bar, and Kaza, a hipster bartender from LA made his original concoction... a Japanese Old Fashioned... Suntory whisky, kombucha water (made in house), dates bitters, demara sugar, and a smoked nori... it was a pretty f***in' cool drink. I pride myself on discovering a great Old Fashioned whenever I travel. I think it's the drink that marks a bartender. This was the best Old Fashioned I've had to date. The food was excellent too! I had their burger and a grilled Caesar... it's evident that the chef is very thoughtful in his creations; a truartist. Short rib congee was somehow crispy on the ends, which means - with that fat content - it was accidentally overcooked; the rest of this dish was a messy hodge-podge that I didn't bother really exploring. Booked a stay-cation downtown for the weekend at Stanton House. Hotel is beautiful with tons of Art all around but the best part was the Bar/Restaurant. We had an appetizer and some drinks before heading down to blush for a couples massage. We tried the meatballs and they were to die for. After the massage we went to Anson 11 and after the waiter dumped a whole pint of beer onto my wife's dress we decided to leave and head back to the room for a change of clothes. We then decided to have dinner at Taft-Diaz. Let me tell you it was amazing! Service was one of the best i have ever had. Tacos were AMAZING! Tempura Artichoke tacos are something else! they are a little pricey compred to your regular taco place but oh man are they worth it. Will be coming back for sure. read more

We celebrated my husbands birthday here and I ordered the Bok Choy with green mole. This dish needs some serious improvement and modifications. The portion is extremely small even for fine dining. They literally cut a baby Bok Choy in half and serve it with a mole sauce that also needs serious improvement!! I have eaten well in over forty countries and this is some of the best food I have ever eaten. Anywhere. The short rib on rice congee, the soft shell crab taco and flat iron taco, the Cornish game hen prepared two ways were all incredibly delicious. The preparation of all the dishes was elaborate and novel. And the flavor of every ingredient was identifiable but also blended so well with the other ingredients. The desserts were unique and elaborate and delicious too. As were the wines we tasted. A Mexican rosé? Who knew? The service is also top notch.
