    tacos de birria

The birria tacos are so bomb here! They make their birria from beef fyi... The salsas hereare freaking amazing too. They also have other meats, I've done the asada and chorizo. They are also good but nothing compared to the birria! Prices are cheap, the service is good, close to zona norte, come down! I guarantee you will love it.

Fresh, made to order, delicious tacos. The condiments they bring out are fresh. Customer service was great! Friendly staff.

We were headed to Galerias Hipódromo and our taxi cab driver took us here instead after stopping to drop us off in front of the beautiful mall since we wanted to eat first. He highly recommended this place better than the place I was actually looking for which was behind us. He was enthusiastic about how "RICO" this place was as opposed to the one I wanted to go to so my boyfriend and I agreed to try it. Upon ordering, we really didn't know what to expect. I think we thought we were going to get the norm carne asada but reading the menu, I assumed it was birrea or grilled beef made with beer? I don't know. My Spanish isn't the best. We were expecting smaller street sized tacos so my hungry boyfriend ordered 5 of them and I ordered 2. We were shocked and surprised when our tacos came! They came bigger than expected but what surprised us more were the BEANS! Yes! These tacos come with BEANS! Loved the freshly sliced avocado pieces in each taco with cilantro and garnishes. We were presented with a caddy of salsas to accent our tacos. If you're not used to hot... be careful, the salsas are hot and I needed water! The tacos are Rico and the beans add a different dimension to the taste of the taco. I didn't mind the beans. The meat was flavorful and delicious when lime is squeezed onto the tacos. The tortilla look freshly handmade as they are a bit charred or grilled and irregular in size which I liked and thought was special. The restaurant inside is clean. They accept visa. No one spoke English in the establishment but it was easy to communicate with the nice and friendly server. There is a small parking lot in the back. It's clean and pretty professional and orderly looking for a taco stand so I recommend this place if you're ever in the area. It's decent. The price is a steal. Unsure if it's my favorite but it was ok. The tacos are alright but it needs either more flavor to tip me over the edge to make it memorable or have a wow factor to make me want to come back over and over again. It's in a wonderful location right in front of Galerias Hipódromo and a block down from the huge Caliente Casino past the mall. I'm addicted to another taco stand chain that I will even wait in line for an hour in Vegas for because it has that wow addictive taste to it but unfortunately these lack that wow factor for me to give it more than an average rating which is difficult since the service, location, cleanliness, set-up are all awesome factors but hey, everyone's tastes and standards fare differently so there you have it. Give it a shot, the real cook may have taken the day off?

Unos de las mejores tacos de adobada en Tijuana. Los tacos son bien servidos y consistentes con la calidad.

    Las Ahumaderas - Adobada taco

Vintage Tijuana spot here! Las Ahumaderas has for decades been one of the better (top 3-5, arguably…read more#1) spots in TJ for tacos - highly recommended by tourists and locals alike. Las Ahumaderas is a collection of 5-6 taquerias on one side street off Blvd. Agua Caliente, one of the main thoroughfares in TJ. The taquerias offer very solid, relatively cheap tacos and tend to stay open until super late at night (often until 4 am). Las Ahumaderas is famously nicknamed "Taco Alley" and gained some international recognition after being featured one of Anthony Bourdain's travel and food shows. I've been several times but last stopped by Las Ahumaderas in September. The most popular spot there (and my personal favorite) is Las Tres Salsas - would highly recommend checking out that taqueria first if you've never been. The most highly regarded tacos here are the adobada (pork) tacos (my personal favorite as well). Ordered two adobada tacos, one suadero (cow belly) taco, and a Sprite. The nice thing about the food and drink at Ahumaderas is that a lot of the basic items are priced the same - each taco and the sprite were 45 pesos (around $2.50 USD) each. The tacos were all well-portioned, tasty, and filling (as usual). One thing a lot of tourists don't know is Las Tres Salsas has two levels, with the second level sometimes having a decent, relaxing view and atmosphere depending on the time of day. So I ordered and ate on the second floor (ordered from the server for that floor). Cash (dollars or pesos) are by far the most common method of payment but credit cards are also accepted at Las Tres Salsas and I think the other taquerias at Ahumaderas as well. If you don't speak Spanish there's usually someone at the register who speaks enough English to get by though the server I had that afternoon happened to speak very good English. Right after Las Tres Salsas I went to Tacos El Paisano, one of the other taquerias in the establishment. Ordered 1 asada (steak) taco, 1 cabeza (cow's head) taco, and a Fresca soda. Like Las Tres Salsas, all of the items were 45 pesos each. The tacos here were also good, though not as good as Las Tres Salsas; both of the tacos fell apart a bit due to being slightly soggy (though again they were good). I'm a picky eater but there are a wide variety of tacos, quesadillas, and other items to try between the handful of taquerias at Ahumaderas. Las Ahumaderas is about a 13-15 minute walk down Agua Caliente from Telefonica Gastro Park, another excellent foodie location in TJ. Must visit if you've never been before!
