The tacos here are really good! The service was also very fast and friendly. They load the tacos with lots of well seasoned crispy meat and generous amount of guacamole. After the first two street vendor taco crawls, Taco Isabel was our (with Yelp Buddies Ran C. and Isobel L.) third street vendor taco crawl/stop before hitting up Avenida Revolución. Ran had eaten here before and he liked it, and so of course, I wasn't going to pass up the opportunity to try out their birria taco. When in Rome (well, Mexico, lol!)... Side Note: The first two vendors do not have their own Yelp page nor permanent spot locations. First vendor was Tacovarios La Guerita ($1.25 breakfast bistec con papas taco) and the second vendor was Tacos Veloz ($2 for birria taco + Mexican Coca-Cola). For $1.20, their birria was tender, meaty and a generous portion too! Dipped in the birria's juices and topped with cilantro and onions, I would get this again! Served with two corn tortillas, I especially, loved that they fry them up a bit. Not only does it give that yummy and crunchy effect, but it also holds up the fillings nicely. I would have gotten the Adobada (similar to al pastor) as well, but I needed to save room for the rest of our trip, hehe! Service: The staff here are friendly and quick. Just tell them what kind of taco(s) you want, and it'll be ready within less than five minutes. When you're done eating, you can give them back the plastic plates (a lot of the street taco vendors recycle their plastic plates - some have plastic bags wrapped over them while others rinse them out). You'll also pay after you're done eating (opposite end of the cart). Taco Isabel accepts both American money and pesos. Ambience and Décor: Al fresco, street dining, hehe! Watch out for cars. They have a few chairs to sit on behind their cart. There's also a counter (standing room only) in front of their cart. Definitely recommend checking out Taco Isabel. A monthly trek to Tijuana to volunteer at an orphanage is how and why I end up at Tacos Isabel. After all, it's a short walk away from the border crossing and the tacos are so, so delicious. It's street tacos. it's cooked and prepped there on the cart, there on the street. You can take them to go or if you're lucky, there's a few seats, but no tables. You eat your tacos right there on the street. No service - just order, wait and eat. It's clean and fresh. And the prices aren't bad at all. - $1.10 or 17 pesos. read more

These guys are amazing. I love coming here for my carne asada or adobada fix. I even enjoy standing in the smoke on purpose just so my hair will absorb some of the smells for me to take home and nap in it. read more

What you will love about Isabel is the convenience, Birria and Adobada. It's located on a prime corner, right near the border, actually sort of just as you come into Mexico or lastly as you leave. The Adobada is excellent, heaping amount of meat, great color from the Achiote, good char if you want, though you have to sort of ask for that extra extra if you know what I'm saying. The guac is creamy, but not spicy, needs garlic. Cebolla and cilantro. The birria has just enough gaminess, but a tennis ball sized amount of meat. I don't suggest the guac on these as the profile doesn't accentuate things. Salsas are good, not too spicy, rich. Love the fresh squeezed limes which to me go much better on the asada, I will say the asada is tender. The tortilla's are pretty sturdy, but I ask for a little extra time on the plancha. Though it's not my favorite taco here, I usually get 1 of each to top off my stomach as I cross because lets face it by the time I get home I'm hungry again. Prices aren't the cheapest, but they take us dollars and it's easy to communicate if you don't speak Spanish. read more

Tacos at this place are really good. During the mornings they serve birria tacos and stew and during later hours carne azada tacos and adobo (pork). The birria is cheap and very delicious. The portions are abundant. The carne azada is great. The meat is juicy and tender and it is topped with guacamole, cilantro, onions, salsa, and freshly squeezed lime. As far as the adovo tacos go, i have not tried them but they look very yumi. read more

I go to Tijuana monthly, and on the way back from clinic, we always stop here. Clarification, the rest of my group goes to the sit down place, but now that I've eaten at Tacos Isabel, I can't eat the tacos at the sit down joint. Tacos Isabel's carne asada and al pastor are so flavorful, so juicy, so hot off the grill or spit, and the guacamole and salsas are amazing. To stand there after a day of work, smoke in your face, miles of traffic jam behind you, drinking beer and downing taco after taco is one of life's more subline pleasures.
