We stopped at Taconazo in Playas de Tijuana. Clean and fast service. We ordered tacos but they also have tortas and tostadas. Tacos were really tasty. I highly recommend this place!! The salsa has a kick and extra spicy. I don't eat hot & spicy so if you are the same I'd order w/o salsa. Agua de jamaica was delish. I was told about this place by my pastor. Had to stop while we were in the area. This place is a must visit when you are in the playas de Tijuana. Food was delicious. I got 2 tacos de adobada who's was fresh and the tortillas de maíz. Great taste and delicious. I also had 2 quesadilla tacos de carne asada. Had guacamole, cheese, onions and the meat. These tacos are DELICIOUS! I have tried a couple different spots around here and so far this place is my favorite. You can either stay there and eat or if you drive up they have people who wait outside, take your order, you wait in your car, and then they bring out all your food. They're pretty quick getting your stuff out and everything is warm and fresh. I've had the carne asada, the adobada (my favorite), and the suadero. The adobada has this really amazing sauce that is spicy but totally worth it. The carne asada is fine, and the suadero was melt in your mouth soft! The was okay. Could have been a four star rating but they doused every single taco in very hot haberno sauce. I can take hot sauce but got dam this was extra hot and when I say they doused it, they drowned it in very hot ass sauce which made it hard to eat lol. I went late night at 11pm thinking it wouldn't be packed. I was wrong! 20 Minute wait. I sat outside and it was very nice. They had heaters outside so it felt really good. Food: again it was hard to taste the food because of the ridiculous amount of hot sauce they put. I would like to come back and get the sauce on the side. They should really tell clients that they drown these in hot sauce. Maybe next time it will be better. Also the taco Nazo in Houston texas is much better than this. So...we've driven into Mexican just for TacoNazo, have had a friend who lives in TJ pick us up at the pedestrian bridge just for TacoNazo and have walked across the border, hopped in an uber just for TacoNazo. All their other tacos & options are good but be sure & try the pastor tacos. I've been coming to this place for years & it's usually open pretty late (12-2am). The only issue we had was their meet has a lot of pieces of fat which makes them hard to chew. The prices seems high for tacos too but I get it they need to pay their employees. I've been here three times already because this eatery has really good tacos! They are open late, of course, so you can get your taco fix pretty much anytime your craving hits. We came here after going to a salsa club because we got hungry again LOL. There is plenty of seating and you can see the huge adobada trompo near the entrance. There are lots of people grilling the meats and heating up the tortillas as well. They also give you complimentary cucumbers and radishes with your order. We decided to get a bunch of different tacos, which comes with guacamole and salsas, depending on what type of tacos you order. We decided to take a girl's weekend to Tijuana for the Cesar Chavez long weekend, completely forgetting that it was also Easter weekend. To our horror, we discovered that many restaurants/street stalls were closed, not to mention that many do not serve meat on Fridays. D'OH! After wandering from closed store to closed store for about 5 miles, we finally saw a storefront that looked semi-crowded and hopped in line. Rating Breakdown: 2/2 Stars for Taste -- I don't know if we were just starving or what, but everything was delicious. You have to try the fantasma, which has melted, crispy cheese on the bottom instead of a tostada/tortilla. The tacos vampiros are tortillas that have been griddled until crisp, topped with your choice of meat, cheese, and a spicy red salsa. Delicious. My favorite meat was the tripas and my sister's was the adobada. The cabeza was so tender and juicy too. You really can't go wrong. If you're sweating through the spice, try the horchata to soothe your angry tastebuds. 1/1 Stars for Value -- I really have no scale when it comes to food in Mexico, but we accidentally ordered way too much and our bill was still only ~$25 USD for 4 people. The fantasma came with a full platter (+ beans, roasted pepper) and was 60 pesos. I believe tacos vampiros were 50 pesos and regular tacos were 25 pesos. 1/1 Stars for Customer Service -- There was a minor mishap where my sister ordered and I said "share" and the waitress misunderstood and thought I said "same". Eating twice as many tacos as we intended was SUCH hardship (not). When we asked if they sold beer, the waitress sent one of the busboys to the store to pick us up some cold ones. I came here with my daughter, customer service lacks big time. We weren't even greeted, our "server" instead of greeting us looked down on his iPad and yelled "dime" (order). My daughter ordered and he asked in a bad mood "and to drink?" Not even looking at us. I got the same treatment. Tripe: I am an avid tripe taco eater and must say right off the bat this is a place to avoid for that meat. The tripe is greasy, let it be known that the grease its smoothered in is ,not the meat's own grease. It is either cheap, nasty and old oil or manteca. The grease is overpowering and it takes away from the tripe's flavor. The tripe is also not well cleaned and over burnt- burnt not only in appearance but in taste. There is only a hint of that distinguishable tripe flavor. AVOID. Consome de Birria: I've had worst Birria. The seasoning is not bad but it tastes more like barbacoa. After a long day, the food arrived quickly, the waiters were pleasant, and there were many taco options. I had two beef shoulder and one carne asada taco. The avocado and onions in the taco were nicely balanced. The meat was very tasty and cooked perfectly (not dry and very flavorful). The balance of flavors in the tacos was perfection. The soft shell tortillas were flavorful too. We all ordered horchatas with our tacos. The horchata was sweet and refreshing, the perfect addition to our meal. I've said it before and I'll say it again. My favorite neighborhood in San Diego is, well, Tijuana. I know, I know, it's hardly SD but in all honesty it's easier to go out to dinner in Tijuana than it is for us to go out to dinner in a place like Carlsbad or Encinitas. The drive is about the same (probably a touch quicker) and you certainly can't beat the price. Taconazo isn't my favorite taco in the city but they are damn good. Most recently it was the the birria that warmed me on a chilly evening and I loved every sip and spoonful from the unassuming styrofoam cup. The chunks of tender beef and the rich broth is so simple but so complex all at the same time. The soup lover that I am absolutely dreams of this body-warming-elixir and it's always such a treat when we make our way down south to enjoy it. If you're looking for a "taco shop" that's not simply a cart on the sidewalk (if you're scared of that) then this is your spot. I'd actually say that this is more or less of a gateway into Tijuana tacos that will soon lead you to the nooks and crannies all around town with equally as impressive of a product. I'm sure using the phrase "great tacos" down here in Tijuana is like saying 'great burger' in the U.S. but these simply are amazing tacos! I came across this place. By chance. I wanted to get my car cleaned after a dusty drive and Taco Nazo is right next to (or actually part of) the car wash. It's an open air restaurant which is perfect in this moderate climate but there is a nice overhang for the days it does rain. There was meat cooking on a spit and various peppers and other tasty vegetables being grilled as I walked in. I don't speak Spanish very well but they were very accommodating. I've recently discovered Adobada and this is now my favorite over carne asada. I ordered 3 with everything and it was only a couple of minutes before they were brought to my table. They are the typical size of authentic tacos and everything looked fresh. Along with the spicy pork was onions and cilantro and that amazing white sauce. To add a little something different there was a thin slice of pineapple atop the taco but covered in the sauce. Okay, I can say with certainty I've NEVER had a better taco. I didn't get to carne asada or anything else. I wanted to savor the taste of the Adobada but without a doubt I will be back and soon! Unfortunately they do not serve beer, however, my server said I could bring my own beer!!! Okay can I give them 5+? I found my new go-to Taco joint when I find myself in TIjuana again. The tacos here are SO good. I tried the asada, adobada (which is essentially Al Pastor), and birria. My favorite was the adobada. I'm not sure what kind of sauce they use with it, but the taco with the sauce is literally heaven. I wish I could've brought like 20 of them home with me, but I knew they wouldn't taste as good after that 4 hour border crossing wait, plus another 2 hours to LA. The birria was average, but I found the Asada to be excellent. The people here are very friendly and they have a large amount of seating (including sitting right in front of them making the tacos for you). Both of the times we came here, we ordered them to-go and they packaged our tacos perfectly as well as adding tons of cut limes, and cut cucumbers I believe (didn't get a good look). The tacos are reasonably priced ($20 pesos each for the typical ones and more for a few others). I know there are places around that sell them for cheaper, but for this price, it was great. They will also convert USD for you so if you being dollars, don't worry, they accept it. They also accept credit cards as well! They don't speak much English, so if you don't speak Spanish, you might have a little difficulty, but that's what hands and fingers are for! Haha! Will definitely be back! read more
