Salsa plate: Hot Salsa (Lower Left), Red Mild Salsa (Upper Middle), and Green Mild Salsa (Lower Right), including limes and radishes.
    Miguel Andres D.

Upon arrival you see the exterior bar seating and can smell savory the tacos cooking! You enter through a side door into this stylish, medium sized, and warmly lit dining area, and the hostess/cook/server is there to greet you. She was kind and attentive, and brought me right over to a nice wooden table where she gave me a menu to look over, while she attended the other already dining customers. It didn't take her more than three minutes to come by for my order. I ordered three tacos one adobada, one ribeye with bone marrow (tuetano), and one El Taqualli, with everything (guacamole, onion and cilantro). She brought over my drink, a Mexican Coke Zero, and also came with three salsas, an orange one (hot), a red one (mild) and a green one (mild), and radishes to use on my tacos. My favorite salsa was the green one because it is more citrusy and tastes excellent with the fatty tuetano, although it was not spicy enough, so I also used the orange one to add the heat, which was also delicious. When my tacos came they were displayed beautifully on a wooden board, wrapped in paper to aid the homemade tortilla in holding everything together. The charred ribeye and tuetano, red adobada and cheesy Taqualli were a work of art covered with bright green guacamole on each of them. I added salt lime and salsa and devoured them. They were so freaking good, I want more as I'm writing this. The adobada was so savory with a hint of fruit possibly pineapple, but what stood out most to me was the ribeye with tuetano. It had a buttery and sensationally grilled taste, contrasted by the lime and onions, with the chile adding heat and complexity to the flavor, every bite was heaven. The Taqualli taco felt like a remix of just that, and was a good note to end on. This little restaurant really impressed me, and I'm definitely going back before I leave. There was a point in time where I was eating those finger licking good tacos that I picked up my glass bottle of Coke Zero and felt the cold condensation run onto my fingers as I drank it, and coupled with the noises of cooking and chatting customers, and the smell of searing meat, that the entire moment felt holistic and beautiful. As a Mexican-American, in some strange way the Taqualli made me feel home, and I'm from El Paso, so I'm familiar with tacos, but not Tijuana tacos. I loved this place for it's wonderful vibe, excellent service, and remarkable tacos. I hardly ever post Yelp reviews but this one definitely deserves it. Thank you to the Taqualli for an excellent dining experience! Also, they take card and US cash, and all that only cost me about $13.50 USD plus tip (They could easily charge double).

Ever since I was able to finally get my Sentri Pass, I have been taking random trips down to Tijuana to try out some of the local flavours. Taqualli came highly recommended by several people and it's very close to the border to top it off. It's mainly a sit down restaurant but there is also a bar seating area outside as well and you can order directly from the cooks. The inside is very clean, organized and looks up to date. The booth seating at the tables is a bit rough, uncomfortable seats I found as a tall person, don't care for rubbing my legs against cinder blocks. On their menu you can find tacos, quesadillas and other various things like sopes, baked potatoes. Tacos was the main reason we came here though, so that's all I ended up trying. The ribeye taco appears to be their specialty including their "extremexos" Taco loco which includes ribeye, tripa and adobada. Out of all the proteins though, I found the ribeye to be excellent with both flavour and cooked the best. Each taco comes with your standard diced onions, cilantro and guacamole if you ask for everything, what crazy person wouldn't. They have both flour and corn tortillas, I wasn't able to see if they were making the tortillas on the spot, but they tasted fresh nonetheless. Before your food comes out you are given a nice tray of hot sauces along with some veggies to clear your palate. The organish hot sauce was the most spicy for me but not overpowering, which is good. That was my favorite to top my tacos with. All said and done, prices were decent for the amount of food you get here. Service here was excellent, our waitress spoke a good deal of English and they had a decent conversation to USD, because we had no pesos on us at the time. Overall a clean modern taqueria with good food and great service. Good place to stop by on the way back from Baja.

One of the most delicious and urban tacos this side of the border, Taqualli is a great place to go. We hosted an event here at Taqualli and it was fantastic. They have a wonderful staff that takes care of you. They provided us with great tacos and absolutely delicious drinks. They had a lemonade with chia seeds that was so delicious. Overall, I would recommend this place to anyone who wants great tacos at a great price. And if you are looking for a place to host an event say for a Meeting, Graduation, Baby Shower, etc, go to Taqualli, you won't be disappointed.

I was visiting a health clinic and the vato Javier came through when I asked if he could take me to a local spot the gringos wouldn't know about. Their cinnamon water was extremely flavorful at first but I was turned off when I had some bad flashbacks of fireball whiskey due to the similiar power of the cinnamon. Tacos are like 30 pesos and are fresher than the MET Gala. These guys were peeling marrow off the bone and rolling tortillas to order. Place is lit and best of all, Montezuma's revenge has not cursed this taqueria.

I'm eating keto and they made me a no tortilla ribeye plate!

Crazy delicious tacos made with home made corn tortillas, or flour if you prefer. Great service and very little wait time. So glad I found this place.

Excelent tacos! Every time I go to TJ my husband and I always stop by this place. Staff is very friendly and everything is always clean. They have the best baked potatoes and amazing rib eye. Highly recommend Taqualli taqueria

This place is amazing! I'm here from Texas so my friend can have surgery at MI Doctor Hospital and this place is right around the corner. Food is amazing and the staff spoke English and was very helpful on what to order and they even have WiFi. I be honest I have ate in Matomoros, Mexico and always said there and the Rio Grande Valley have the best tacos, nope! This place is absolutely the best I have ever had!

Haha, all the tacos I ordered were so delicious! I especially enjoyed the adobada taco. When we ordered we told the kind server we wanted our tacos with everything (con todo). The adobada taco was super flavorful, juicy and addicting. It came with a complementary cilantro-looking sauce that made the taco even better. The Suadero was soft and flavorful as well with a spicy kick. The Asada was flavorful and came with lots of guacamole/avocado. They also give you a small plate full of limes and slices of radishes to enjoy with your food/tacos. It is a very spacious restaurant with a VIP side (maybe for locals or etc) and a regular side. Las Ahumaderas is a collection of 5-6 taquerias on one side street off Blvd. Agua Caliente, one of the main thoroughfares in TJ. The taquerias offer very solid, relatively cheap tacos and tend to stay open until super late at night (often until 4 am). Las Ahumaderas is famously nicknamed "Taco Alley" and gained some international recognition after being featured one of Anthony Bourdain's travel and food shows. I've been several times but last stopped by Las Ahumaderas in September. The most popular spot there (and my personal favorite) is Las Tres Salsas - would highly recommend checking out that taqueria first if you've never been. The most highly regarded tacos here are the adobada (pork) tacos (my personal favorite as well). Ordered two adobada tacos, one suadero (cow belly) taco, and a Sprite. The nice thing about the food and drink at Ahumaderas is that a lot of the basic items are priced the same - each taco and the sprite were 45 pesos (around $2.50 USD) each. The tacos were all well-portioned, tasty, and filling (as usual). One thing a lot of tourists don't know is Las Tres Salsas has two levels, with the second level sometimes having a decent, relaxing view and atmosphere depending on the time of day. So I ordered and ate on the second floor (ordered from the server for that floor). Cash (dollars or pesos) are by far the most common method of payment but credit cards are also accepted at Las Tres Salsas and I think the other taquerias at Ahumaderas as well. If you don't speak Spanish there's usually someone at the register who speaks enough English to get by though the server I had that afternoon happened to speak very good English. Right after Las Tres Salsas I went to Tacos El Paisano, one of the other taquerias in the establishment. Ordered 1 asada (steak) taco, 1 cabeza (cow's head) taco, and a Fresca soda. Like Las Tres Salsas, all of the items were 45 pesos each. The tacos here were also good, though not as good as Las Tres Salsas; both of the tacos fell apart a bit due to being slightly soggy (though again they were good). I'm a picky eater but there are a wide variety of tacos, quesadillas, and other items to try between the handful of taquerias at Ahumaderas. Las Ahumaderas is about a 13-15 minute walk down Agua Caliente from Telefonica Gastro Park, another excellent foodie location in TJ. Must visit if you've never been before!

The Zona Rio location has a small dining area, that is very popular with both the locals and visitors. It is easy to see why. Their menu does not over dose on the standard morning and afternoon items that you would find anyplace. However, this is the first restaurant I've been to in Tijuana, that does not have an English menu.... so I had to labor through the Spanish menu. But, they do have unique dishes, thus making the visit adventurous, because it is difficult to choose. I went back and forth, and finally settled for their 3-egg omelet with asparagus and sheep cheese. It came with refried beans, strings of carrots and beets, small fired up tostadas and fresh tortillas (both blue and yellow corn). A small side of soggy chilaquiles was also served. A small flavorful salsa tray is also provided with 3 options, ranging from mild to hot. The asparagus spears were thin, cut up into small pieces and sautéed with mild spices. The outer egg covering soft and not overdone. If anything, there was too much sheep cheese, in certain portions of the omelet. I say this because it was an asparagus omelet, and it, instead of the cheese, should have been the star. Still, it did not take away from the other commendable aspects of the complete entree and its accompaniments. Before the meal, a small refreshing fruit plate is served.
