    Employee grilling delicious carne asada

Friends and I had to stop by los famosos Tacos El Yaqui as soon as we arrived to Rosarito due to the raving yelp reviews and from friends and it did not disappoint! We all had tacos Perrones and we all agreed they were absolutely huge and the best tacos we've all enjoyed!! All employees were super cool and offered great service and the restaurant area was clean. Definitely looking forward to coming back when I'm in Rosarito again!

My favorite taco shop in Rosarito and it's not even close. Been coming here since I was a child. They focus on QUALITY. unfortunately, they went viral on social media (well deserved) so they always have a line now, but it's so worth it. Salsas are great, service is great, and the flour tortillas are so yummy

A MUST... beware you have been warned in advance that you will fall in love with this flour tortilla taco that they call " perrones". Meat (carne asada) beef grilled in front of you over wood. Melted cheese, beans and guacamole compliment your carne. They are larger than a street taco. Enjoy... I can't wait to go back...

This place is amazing! I forgot to take a picture of my taco they make their perrones with fresh carne and homemade tortillas. melted cheese with beans cilantro onions guacamole and salsa, they're delicious. The perrones are large and the quesadillas are literally just fresh tortilla and cheese melted.

Modern taco shop serves carne asada tacos

This place is highly recommended by locals and I understand why. The ambiance is cool on hot sunny days and the tacos are good. I love carne asada tacos and would have ordered them anyway but not everyone wants a carne asada taco (they only serve carne asada tacos...). It'd be great if they branched out and offered more variety. Also it's off the main strip and can be tough to find.

It takes a while to find in the backroad a of TJ but if you see this sign you have arrived!

Las Ahumaderas is a collection of 5-6 taquerias on one side street off Blvd. Agua Caliente, one of the main thoroughfares in TJ. The taquerias offer very solid, relatively cheap tacos and tend to stay open until super late at night (often until 4 am). Las Ahumaderas is famously nicknamed "Taco Alley" and gained some international recognition after being featured one of Anthony Bourdain's travel and food shows. I've been several times but last stopped by Las Ahumaderas in September. The most popular spot there (and my personal favorite) is Las Tres Salsas - would highly recommend checking out that taqueria first if you've never been. The most highly regarded tacos here are the adobada (pork) tacos (my personal favorite as well). Ordered two adobada tacos, one suadero (cow belly) taco, and a Sprite. The nice thing about the food and drink at Ahumaderas is that a lot of the basic items are priced the same - each taco and the sprite were 45 pesos (around $2.50 USD) each. The tacos were all well-portioned, tasty, and filling (as usual). One thing a lot of tourists don't know is Las Tres Salsas has two levels, with the second level sometimes having a decent, relaxing view and atmosphere depending on the time of day. So I ordered and ate on the second floor (ordered from the server for that floor). Cash (dollars or pesos) are by far the most common method of payment but credit cards are also accepted at Las Tres Salsas and I think the other taquerias at Ahumaderas as well. If you don't speak Spanish there's usually someone at the register who speaks enough English to get by though the server I had that afternoon happened to speak very good English. Right after Las Tres Salsas I went to Tacos El Paisano, one of the other taquerias in the establishment. Ordered 1 asada (steak) taco, 1 cabeza (cow's head) taco, and a Fresca soda. Like Las Tres Salsas, all of the items were 45 pesos each. The tacos here were also good, though not as good as Las Tres Salsas; both of the tacos fell apart a bit due to being slightly soggy (though again they were good). I'm a picky eater but there are a wide variety of tacos, quesadillas, and other items to try between the handful of taquerias at Ahumaderas. Las Ahumaderas is about a 13-15 minute walk down Agua Caliente from Telefonica Gastro Park, another excellent foodie location in TJ. Must visit if you've never been before!

Go in a armless tee and cargo shorts and you will be out of place. They have an amazing selection of food. They have sushi, empanadas, steaks, tacos and all sorts of small plates. The moment you walk in, there are multiple servers greeting you and escorting you to your table. You know right away that it's going to be a memorable evening. I actually did not know that there was Japanese fare here too, and I tried to concentrate on the local Mexico dishes. I am not a big eater so in order to taste a variety I tried to choose appetizers and small bites. The evening began with complimentary salsas, three of them, with chips. What is unique is that their chips are long rectangular strips of different composition. The salsas were fresh. I liked the green one the best and once I had finished these, they brought another batch of chips, but these had a mild but satisfying cheese taste. Both of the chip varieties were spectacular. My first choice for food, was the almond crusted green beans that are drizzled with sweet and sour sauce. This clearly had a Japanese tint to it. It is a large potion I only finished half of it. My only comment on this dish is that I couldn't taste the almonds. It looked more like it was a tempura type fry. The sweet and sour sauce dominated the dish. My second selection, was the popular (according to my server), the Taco Richi (ribbeye, cheese crust, pork cracklings, and avocado). Comes as one piece. This was superb. Finally, more Tacos, the Beef Steak Gaonera (Hand-made tortillas, guacamole and pico de gallo). Comes as two pieces. This too was equally good. I also succumbed and ordered a side order of french fries too. At the end, they surprised me with a complimentary dessert. A small potion of their cheesecake, which had four caramelized macadamia nuts on top. It was different. Overall, it was a dining experience that was unmatched and one that can give LA restaurants, serious competition. I had at least five different servers taking care of me right through the night. Needless to say, the service was outstanding.
