Found this trailer on my Lime scooter exploration of East Austin & I had the best experience. There are several benches with umbrellas to sit & enjoy your meal. Yolanda, pictured, is the only cook and owner of her trailer since 2013. Her recipes are full of flavor, warmth & pride. The tacos did not disappoint and she'll make them however you want! I recommend you make sure to have one of your tacos with beans and that you also save room for her amazing & tummy/soul warming fideo! Yolanda checked in on us to see how we liked her food. Was looking for a backup taco spot close to Juan In A Million in case the line/wait was long. Very glad we came here! Very authentic, had it's own lot, and prices were affordable. The house made salsas were great! Salsa verde was mild and salsa rojo was super hot. I got the migas taco and potato and egg taco. Both were loaded, tortilla was soft and thin, and the lady working there asked if we wanted cheese or not (yes please). The lady spoke Spanglish to us but it wasn't a hindrance to order. I have driven past this trailer for years on my way elsewhere, and now I mildly regret that curiosity didn't get the better of me sooner. One Sunday, at about 2:30 pm, my friend and I were hungry, but all the standard taco spots I would've gone to were either a) closed or b) about to close in the next 30 mins. I hate to be that person, so I quickly searched on my phone to see what was "open now" in the way of tacos. We pulled up and parked next to the truck, and one person was there, giving us time to scope the menu. I saw the old lady at the window and knew these tacos were legit. You will need some basic Spanish to order, but it's not complicated. The lady was super sweet and asked me how my day was going since we were the only guests. I ordered 2 tacos (bistec and carnitas) and he got 3 and a medio litro of Coke for a total of $24. Both tacos were great, but I think the flavor of the carnitas was perfect. A young couple rolled up as we were finishing up our lunch, and I heard them practicing their Spanish. However, they didn't have cash to pay. I don't think she ever misses a day of work. Austin is a town that has many gems but this is in the top 5 of said gems. Solid. It's as if you're eating right in abuelita's home kitchen that's how authentic it is. The menu offers several nice offerings that include a variety of breakfast and lunch tacos as well as antojitos (street-style snacks). The tacos are filling. One and done for me even though my brain tells me to keep going, my belly says no can do. My brain wants to keep going because every bite is packed with flavor. I absolutely hate anything that's over salted or under seasoned. Both salsas were on point & the lady was sweet (agree it's like your own abuela making homemade tacos so service was ). Wow wow wow. This place is truly a gem. I know there are a million taco trucks in Austin, but this one is pretty special. We stopped in and split a few different tacos: chicharron and egg, al pastor, migas, and chorizo/egg/cactus. The chicharron was really tender and went well with the egg. The pastor was crazy good. It was shredded and had a lovely marinade and pineapple flavor. The chorizo was fantastic because it wasn't super greasy. Finally, the migas was super good and came with their homemade refried beans. I'm pretty sure the tortillas were homemade or at least tasted like they were. Their three salsas were really great too. The older lady working the truck is so sweet. She gave us great service and cooked up ridiculously good food. It's like someone's little abuelita made us our meal. :) We will 100% be returning for more. Truly a hidden gem. This food truck is not located where the other trucks are parked in a lot. This bright orange stall was parked on its own in a smaller lot. I've found a new favorite taco spot. You can't go wrong with a sweet old woman flippin' your tortillas. Her English is limited, but just enough to understand the basics of your order. My husband and I love breakfast tacos, we've never had a breakfast taco we didn't love until we came here..... This taco truck shares a lot with an insurance place. There was horse poop in the parking lot, empty cat food cans, and cat bowls underneath the taco truck - this should've been my sign to run away but we continued.... We ordered quite a bit of tacos, we ordered 7, total was $28. This place is cash only!! The tacos were so bad that it makes me sad. The tortillas were soft and tasted store bought. I'm prettty sure she put butter on them too. The eggs were burnt . The chorizo did not taste fresh at all. The potatoes were greasy and hard. And the salsa did not have a kick to it at allll. We didn't order chicken but the person in front of us did, I watched the lady put the chicken breast on the grill to crisp up the sides and then put it in the microwave to finish cooking..... We came here because a lot of reviews raved about how 'authentic' this place was.... I'm sad to say that it isn't. The only reason I gave it any stars was because the lady that worked at the truck was so very kind and I could tell she was really trying.
