Corn Tortila Quesadilla with chicken, very good.

How come this place only have two reviews?? I had been wanting to check it out ever since a fellow yelper mentioned they have eyeball tacos (something you just don't forget) and became a fan after one visit. First of all, they have home-made horchata, Jamaica (with "j" pronounced as "h", of course) and tamarind drinks. Even my beloved La Michoacana doesn't have this Jamaican flower drink (water flavored with roselle, a kind of Hibiscus). It was very refreshing with a perfect balance of tartness and sweetness. The only Jamaican place in town serves a similar drink called Sorrel. With Taco Borolas, our Parkway Villagers don't even have to drive north of 240 to satisfy our cravings for exotic drinks, woohoo! I never ordered quesadillas in a restaurants since they are so easy to make at home, but a corn tortilla quesadilla was new to me. The corn tortilla shell was unlike the corn tortillas for tacos but similar in texture to what you will get for sopes -- fried cornmeal dough. It's thicker than regular corn tortillas but not too thick, not greasy, great texture from the cornmeal...making my home-made quesadillas seem lame by comparison. The chipotle chicken and mushroom filling was very savory and satisfying. There is a side table with three different kinds of home-made salsa and taco fixings like radish, onions, cilantro and whole grilled jalapenos. Salsa was a little runny. I tried the one marked as Very Spicy, and it wasn't deadly since I survived to tell the tale. I do wish they could keep the salsa on ice though. There are some specials written in Spanish on the blackboard near the entrance. Now if I knew what eyeball is in Spanish... Oh, the La ilusion Bakery next door might be the biggest panaderia I have seen in Memphis. Taco Borolas is quite special in my book.

I was in an area of town in which I never travel and of course, I was hungry. Lucky for me, I ran across this really good authentic Mexican restaurant and decided to give it a try. I am glad I did! I decided to try the Chile Verde Con Cerdo which was really cooked to perfection. The pork roast chunks were so tender, you would swear it was stewed in a crock pot. Also to make it even better it was swimming in a delicious green chili sauce! The sides with this dish included the standard rice and beans, which were also prepared properly. I also had a side of some of the best homemade guacamole that I have ever had and tried a few of the homemade salsas. They have a salsa bar for you pepper heads with choices that range from barely spicy to light your ass on fire!!! Taco Borolas seems to be a family run/ mom and pop establishment. It shows through the love of their food and the cleanliness of the restaurant. I believe the owner waited on me but the entire staff was very nice. The prices were were very good and inline with type of restaurant. If I find myself in this area of town again, I will definitely give them another go. I enjoyed it!

I like their tacos al pastor y gorditas. Weekends they carry traditional posole & menudo. Both delicious.

The food was excellent and we had a great server (Maggie) who helped us navigate the menu and the array of complimentary sauces. We ordered chips and dip (homemade) and this is not the standard bagged chips with salsa bottle. Crisp and substantial chips with fresh, flavorful, slightly spicy salsa. Really good! Maggie recommended the Birria Burrito with consume for my husband. Wow!!! Loaded with tender and flavorful shredded beef, whole beans, rice, and cheese in a grilled tortillia wrapper with a rich and hearty consume. He has a healthy appetite and still took some home. I got 2 alpastor tacos, which were excellent. Tender and flavorful pork with just enough pineapple. I alsi had a grilled chicken taco that was good, but not as luscious as the pastor. We LOVED the sauces. Yes, you got some mighty heat with a few of these, but they never sacrificed flavor for the sake of heat. Great pickled onion and habenaros, fresh crisp radish and cucumber, smokey, spicy dips. What is not to love!! Churos for desert, sprinkled with cinnamon and sugar. Clean, well lit reasurant. Casual. Friendly service, great parking!! We will be back (and bring friends!)

My feet were sticking to the floor, the toilets were disgusting, there was dust so thick on the partitions it was as if they had never been wiped down. The whole place had a grimy feel/smell to me. The food? No. My hubs got cheese enchiladas, the server suggested he add protein ok-chicken-these had to be the worse enchiladas we have ever tasted. The chicken had a funny taste. I got the Fresco bowl I think its called, no protein. Bland, the little bit of guacamole they had ion there? No taste. The flight of salsa was so so. Hubs wanted to try a margarita. That was the best thing about the whole experience. $70 later for two people the only thing we have to show for it was my hubs waking up from sleep later on sick-three times. He ate nothing else after our lunch besides fruit so you do the math. So yes, our first time will be our last. My daughter has been here with friends and said the only thing she enjoyed was her drink so this may just be a good place for drinks.

The guac was some of the best I've had and made fresh; they even ask if you want it smooth or chunky. Definably family owned and operated as the small grandkids are helping by busing and delivering menu items. Good Vibes served here!
