This was my first time dining inside, and I'm glad I decided to. The front counter staff didn't greet me when I walked in, but they were friendly when taking my order. The menu is extensive, with plenty of options like fish, shrimp, tacos, chimichangas, sopes, quesadillas, breakfast burritos, and even chicken nuggets for kids. Everything is clearly listed in English and easy to read, which makes ordering simple. They have a self-serve area with chips, salsa, cucumbers, and carrots, which I liked. After placing your order at the counter, they give you a number to take to your table. My food came out in about 10 minutes, and it was good as always. I went back to Taqueria Express again, and this time it was around 10:30pm. I wasn't sure what to expect that late, but the food was actually even better than the first time! I ordered three steak tacos on flour tortillas, and they hit the spot perfectly. The steak was juicy, flavorful, and freshly cooked--even at that hour. The tortillas were soft and warm, and everything was seasoned just right. You can tell they put care into their food no matter the time of day. I'm honestly impressed by the consistency and quality. Came in around 10pm with no expectation whatsoever - it was one of the best street tacos experience outside CA scenery. Asado, pastor, babarcoa, and queso birria, all were superb, and the tortilla chips (always expected to be greasy and stale as F) were the crown jewel. Great services from the staff, prompt and nice. First I love TACOS! Second, I enjoyed the atmosphere of the restaurant. The drive thru line stayed packed but they we very efficient on keeping the line moving. My son and I went on the inside to order since it was our first time visiting. I was highly disappointed with the cashier. Being a first time visitor I guess I expected more than what was offered. The young lady was watching something on her phone with a earbud in her ear. I was trying to ask questions and she kept having to remove the ear bud and asking me to repeat myself. I've been looking for the best taco place in town and this is one of the best I've found so far. It's fast, inexpensive, authentic, and delicious. I've tried the Steak, Spicy Pork, Fried Pork, and Chicken Tacos and the Sopes. The meat was flavorful and tender. The sauces they have from the sauce bar on the side are all great. If you don't like spicy, be careful because they are on the spicier side. I love spicy so it was fine for me. I also love they give a pepper on the side for an extra kick. read more

Every single time I order here they get it wrong. The people working the drive through do not understand how to work the register when adding and removing items. I asked for no onions on my daughter tacos they added extra onions. I asked for onion and peppers on my burrito and the girl asked "what do you mean" just another restaurant who doesn't hire trained people. Do better! read more

Well, really not much to say about this place. I had two chicken and two shrimp tacos. The chicken tacos were really small and bland. The shrimp tacos were worse. The shrimp were so dry and over cooked. The lettuce nor the ingredients were fresh. They are rather cheap, but in this case you really get what you pay for. I definitely wouldn't go back and would be strongly more likely to go to another taco spot in that area as there are many! The line was long and slow. I really miss the Pancho's here. The food wasn't really all that great, and they had microwaves, but it just became a spot for nostalgia. This place is so much better than its former glory! Found this little gem on Yelp. This is now on my list of favorite Mexican restaurant in Memphis. It's just a little hole in the wall that has really good food. The carne asada can be a bit chewy, seasoned well with good char flavor, the carnitas are well seasoned with moist and crispy pieces. I was pulled in by the long but manageable line of cars, Latin music played by customers, and sign advertising 99 cent tacos - I knew this was my kind of place! I ordered al pastor (which they called spicy pork but it's the same) and carne asada tacos which are $1.25 each - 99 cents is apparently only for chicken. Carne asada were good but the al pastor was definitely the star of this show. Absolutely delicious and authentic and they come topped with everything you'd want. I'd describe it as street taco quality in a sit down location. They also have a drive through, although I haven't tried their take out. Tacos are $0.99 each and are delicious. We came here for a late lunch/early supper after it popped up in a quick "near you" search. We walked in and immediately realized we were in an authentic Mexican eatery. The place was very clean and inviting. We perused the menu and ordered a carnitas platter for him and a carne asada platter for me. I went to the hot sauce bar and selected some of each of the sauces available. Chips and salsa were brought to our table, followed not long after by our meals. Each came with a tin foil package of corn tortillas so hot and tasty I could have eaten them all! The portions were large, the food well cooked and flavorful. But I saw that they were selling $.99 tacos so I had to try it! I ordered three tacos: one steak, one cabeza, and one beef tongue. They were kind of on the smaller side but they were all tasty! I really liked the steak taco; I would definitely recommend it. I would say you can get a pretty good meal for 5-6 tacos and be satisfied. I ordered a shrimp fajita for $15.00 and this is literally all I got. I counted 6 shrimp and barely anything else for the fajita itself and then there's a little lettuce and guacamole. Like this is disappointing. I got it through Uber eats but they've never been a problem. This is the restaurant itself. This is the best restaurant find for me in a long time for several reasons. I had three carne asada tacos, a bottle of water and they brought me chips and salsa. Food quality was excellent. Great flavor, no grizzle. Salsa was fantastic with good heat but not overwhelming. The place is small. Don't mistake hole in the wall for dingy, it's a clean restaurant.
