Incredible road trip stop at Chukis. The food here was incredible and I was so grateful for the flexibility - we ordered off the menu and got calabacitas burritos, mixed flavor agua frescas, along with a couple kids burrito meals and a side bean burrito for our toddler. Everyone was full and happy after our meal. The flavors were incredible. The calabacitas were beautifully seasoned in a light tomato based sauce - both my husband and I actually said "wow!" out loud with the first bite. We eat a lot of Mexican food, were from California and travel to Mexico frequently and even so this place stands out for the flavor, quality, and care put into the food. I regret not ordering a wider range of menu items to share because the narrow slice of offerings we tried were heavenly. Beyond the food, I love the warmth of this small restaurant, my kids got lollipops from the waitress while we waited for our takeout order. I love the salsa bar here! I suggest getting the chicharrones appetizer to try out a few of them! They have a variety of unique quesadillas here so I want to try them all. The quesabirria is super cool because you dip your quesadilla into the broth just like you do with the tacos. It's a fun experience and tasted great! A very friendly woman came over and took our order. I went with the birria tacos and my business client went with a taco plate. I enjoyed the ambiance. It was funky and fun. It definitely added to my overall experience. The food came over pretty quick. Once my food came, I headed over to their salsa bar. Tearing into the food, I was definitely impressed with the quality and taste. Chukis Deli Mexicano is definitely an amazing place. They have fresh waters here (literal translation) to aguas frescas. freshwater that have been flavored to traditional drinks in Mexico. Highly recommend them if you are not diabetic. Nicely located right next to a grocery. Seated fast and attended to many times. It was 330 in the afternoon so it was a little slow. The food was heavy on the Birria being served in at least half a dozen ways. The birria tacos were good and a 4 was more than enough. The delta burrito was delicious but not what I was expecting. I didn't read past the word Carnitas. If I had kept going I would have seen that it was smoked pork with coleslaw and baked beans. That said. While not what I was expecting, it was delicious. I wasn't in the mood for BBQ but if I had been it would have been perfect. The real star was the Guacamole, I would just eat two portions of that as a meal. Amazing. Brightly decorated, and music playing loudly, could have been a little quieter. If I had one less than ideal, the tortilla chips could have been hot and a more generous portion for the guacamole. I've been to Chukis a few times and they've been consistent every time. The food is good, authentic and full of flavor. They don't have some of the dishes that you would find in other restaurants and their menu isn't as big, but they do have a pretty good menu. They have options for both vegetarians and pescatarians in addition to their meat options. I love the fact that they have a mini salsa bar that you can use for your food there or you can take it with you in their little to-go cups. Sometimes the cashier is also the sole waitress, so if you want to pay you may have to wait until they are done taking orders at the table. Another thing to note is that they don't offer free chips with their sit-down meals or their to-go items. You will have to pay for them if you want them, but I feel like you don't get enough. Ate here recently as I was in town for work. The place sits in a strip mall and doesn't look like much from the outside but once inside has decent seating capacity. They also offer to go which is what I got. They quickly took my order of a carne asada bowl, churro, and a horchata. The food was prepared and ready to go in about 5 minutes or so. Carne asada bowl was a large portion with rice, bell peppers, avocado and tomatoes and tasted great. The churro's which were handmade are delicious and I highly recommend as they come with a Carmel dipping sauce too. The horchata was the only thing that tasted a bit off for me but overall great food and if I'm back here again I will make it a point to stop in. read more

It is the BOMB.COM the tacos are corn tacos and has plenty of meat. The consumé was just as great! With every dip and every bite I wanted more and more. my parents live 10 minutes away from this spot and when i come back from college i always have to stop in. the folks that run it seem like good people, and it's quiet enough to hold a conversation but lively enough that you don't feel like you have to keep your voice down. the tacos are good, the burritos and quesadillas are a bit heavy for me but excellent if you're into that sort of thing. but i will ALWAYS ALWAYS recommend the torta especial. i get it every time; it's truly one of the better sandwiches i've ever had. all of their tortas are excellent, just depends on your preference. get a torta folks! and maybe a cookie out of the case on the counter. read more
