I adore the California fries here and will eat it as my meal. Different chefs seasons differently, so sometimes it's like a gift from heaven while other times it's still good but not quite ambrosia level. The Mexican Burrito is really good but since it has avocado it may not serve well as left overs. It's very fresh and yummy tho. My friend go authentic tacos so I'll definitely have to try those next time we visit because they're legit authentic, not the fake Americanized version. This place has live mariachis that come every other Thursday from 6-9, which is why we went tonight. They will go to each table, take requests, and play a few songs. Stopped for a quick lunch and we were pleasantly surprised by how good the food was. I had the stuffed poblano and my husband had a beef burrito lunch and we both loved our selections. Bathrooms were clean and stocked, too! We'll stop in again when we are in the area. read more

I have been here before and it really never appealed to me. The visit before this one (they were closed on that visit due to being short staffed) they had a sign on the door talking about a "New Menu" and since I am desperately looking for a new place to call "Mexi-Home" I thought I would give it a try again. I arrived to find them very busy on a Thursday night. Apparently, they do Mariachi every other Thursday and I got lucky and picked one of those nights. (Eye Roll) So, I am not from Mexico but I am pretty sure Johnny Cash, Old Crow Medicine Show, and Garth Brooks aren't either. That was mostly what they played. They walked around and visited all of the rednecks for requests and boy that was entertaining. I heard several requests for Freebird, some for Slipknot, Shania Twain, Pink Floyd, and others. No Jorge Alberto Negrete Moreno can be found here folks! My server was either extremely bad with English or just didn't care about my questions. I am pretty sure she could understand me just fine. I inquired about the dinner that had Tamales and Enchilada's together. I asked her what kind they were and she said "beef". I again asked with more clarity, "It's and Beef tamale and Beef enchilada?" Yes. "Can I get a different kind?" "Yes, Beef, yes" was here response. I gave up and just decided to take it as it comes. The chips and salsa are pretty standard for this area. The chips are on the thick side and served warm. The salsa is served pretty cold and is not bad at all. Food arrives and damn that's ugly! Why is there ground beef all over the top of my plate? The rice and beans didn't really have much going on for them and were just kind of tepid. The enchilada was the best thing on the plate but was still just Meh really. The beef inside tasted like that, just beef, no seasoning, just dry tasteless ground beef. It is a shame that they covered the tamale with the same dry unseasoned beef. It was in fact, not beef tamale on the inside though, but was chicken I am pretty sure. It may have been pork but I don't think so. It was not good folks, bottom line! Dry and tasteless... Unfortunately, this is what I remember from every visit here and cannot find anything that I really like. By this time the "Band" had made its way to the large table next to me and was jamming out all of the hits. At this point, Ring of Fire was being blared out of a trumpet about 18-24 inches from my head as I tried to eat my food. This was extremely annoying and just added to my frustration. Unsatisfied with the food, service, and the environment I decided to get up and leave most of my meal sitting there and just eat something at home. I had no check so I had to stand at the front and wait for my server to get it for me. She was running around waiting on tables all over the restaurant and it took a several minutes to get out of there. She passed me four or five times while I was standing at the register waiting to pay. She then whips out the check from her little server book. We've gone here a few times when visiting my sister and her family and both times, it's been great...from the service to the drinks and food. You seat yourself, which is nice. This is sort of a hole in the wall (usually the best kind, in my opinion), but it is so clean! Being a Tex-Mex snob, I sure love all its delicious flavors and the food at this place ranks up there with it! I had the spinach enchiladas, which came with beans and rice and were delicious, so much that I cleaned my plate! The salsa was spicy and cheese dip was so tasty and not thick but definitely not runny either. Since COVID we have been ordering to go and have always requested an extra bag of of chips with the multiple meals that are ordered. When dining in there is never an extra charge for additional chips. Today Mr. Kevin with a terrible attitude charged for extra chips. Mr. Kevin was very rude and disrespectful when I asked about this. Will never return to this establishment. I cannot support a business with employees that retain poor attitudes and are disrespectful to customers. I was told by Kevin that I was more than welcome to dine at McDonalds when I asked about the change to start charging for an extra bag of issues. Like I said I have never had an issue the 100s of times prior to this at either the Olive Branch or Southaven location. Food was kinda good, it was just the service. Had hair in my son's food then had hair in mine. And after I got my food and saw the hair, I took a picture of the hair removed it and didn't touch that side of the food and just kept eating because it was already taking my server forever to check on us . I drunk my drink I had to get up and go ask for the menu to get another drink because the employees were chilling, talking. It was only two tables in the restaurant at the time.. After I paid I told I asked for the manager , of course he was gone. Told her both plates had hair and that I didn't say anything about the second one because I did not wanna be looked at as somebody trying to get free food, I was just hungry (new waiter old waiter never came back). She said nobody knew about the hair in the first one, and lowkey asked me for proof (GLAD I TOOK THE PICTURES EVEN AFTER THE FIRST WAITER LITERALLY SAW THE BLACK STRAIT HAIR ON MY PLATE. Tonight was by far one of my worst dinners here! The staff was extremely slow and preoccupied with their phones and hanging out at their work station. If it weren't for the poor runners- we wouldn't have drinks or food or pay for our dinner. The waitress was only there to write down our order. The food was the most disappointing by far. My husbands fajitas tasted bad - and if he doesn't get sick from it - we'll be surprised. My grilled chicken salad was just ok- but I wasn't expecting much- I mean it's a salad. My son had a dish with beef, chicken and shrimp chimichangas and his shrimp didn't taste good either. There is usually a certain gentleman there-who I take to be the owner/manager- but he wasn't there tonight- my guess is that's why everyone was so lax in their job responsibilities. Wow!!! That would be my word to describe this place!! Great from beginning to end!! I ordered the Carnitas, because I think that carnitas are what separate the men from the boys. The sauce was perfectly seasoned... The meat was small chunks of pork that had obviously been cooked to perfection... Onions were fresh and just toped off the palate with a little different sweet onion taste. The meal wasn't a huge serving, but was plenty for anyone that is hungry. Just a delightful surprise!!! But, it all started with a complementary Taco.... It was without question the most diverse taste I have had in a while. It was served on a corn tortilla... With pork, fresh sautéed onions, and the perfect amount of cilantro. Spicy at first bite, then followed by the sweet onion taste... And right on top of that was the amazing fresh cilantro.... I've lived in this area for 15 years. I love Mexican food. This Rancho Grande Restaurant is very near where I live, but I've only ordered from them a few times because their food is the worst in this area. Their sauces are just simple tomato sauce kinda stuff, IDK...no flavor to it. The beef they serve on their tacos and enchiladas is bland, too. The white cheese they use is...well, I don't know what it is, but it makes me gag. If you're looking for a good Mexican restaurant in this area, any would be better than this one. read more

The chips were warm and the chip salsa good The Sierra Mist had a toilet bowl water taste (I can only assume that's what it tastes like) they did not have bottled or canned drinks. I had to get a Cola to mask the water (I know how flat pop tastes like) The Al Pastor Burrito (seasoned pork) was medium Taste at best The flavor was thick or marinated thick. However I'm from Illinois and a lot of Mexican states may may have different cooking customs as well. While I could eat it and somewhat enjoy it, I don't think the majority of the US/ Non-Mexican customers will enjoy such a thick taste or seasoning I would've ordered the steak but wanted to switch it up read more
