    Birria Tacos
    Leigha T.

Soooo good. Pulled up to the truck and had food within 2 minutes. The birria tacos were so good. And that green sauce was perfect. I liked the red sauce too but that green sauce was . Also they're open late. I got this at 10:30 on Friday when everything else was closed (that's actually why I ended up here). I've seen this truck a lot but just never stopped by to try it. I'm glad I did. It's parked off w 38th street in the strip mall parking lot of the dollar general and Magoos Pizza. I Will definitely be a return customer.

i'm getting to write this after eating here twice in two weeks this taco truck is in the parking lot of uncle bill's pet across the street from the old red lobster on west 38th/georgetown rd the best part of this business is the use of technology. their online information is up to date, they have an instagram, but most importantly there's a digital ticketed system that displays the order that's ready and an automated voice that says it aloud. my first visit the truck was exactly in the lot where the address lists. there's plenty of parking and lighting. yesterday i pressed my luck hoping i could call in my order. i'm not saying this is a common thing but she took it and gave me my number no problem. the food was ready when the person went to retrieve it. their salsas are more cream like if that matters to anyone. heat is still present. my steak tacos were good

I like a dim atmosphere, but it was hardly lit enough to read the menu. It was difficult to navigate as it was mostly in Spanish. Extremely limited vegetarian options which I'm not sure I can assume were actually without chicken base in the rice, etc. I didn't even see a vegetable fajita on the menu. My vegetarian burrito sans crema and cheese consisted of little more than rice and a couple small diced pieces of avocado and diced tomato. Iceberg lettuce? I saw corn niblets and a pea fall out. Bland. Hot sauce choices not fantastic. What kind of burrito contains no beans?? Everyone else at my table received flatware. I was given a plastic fork. Once I received an actual fork & knife, they kept tearing the paper underneath my burrito. Strangely served with raw cucumber (ick) & lime wedges on the side. Edible at best. The atmosphere looked interesting upon entry, but it felt grungy, the chairs were heavy. I was seated right next to a brick wall/chimney. Service was sparse. Definite language barrier. The dish my companions received was an array of meat in a molcajete. Mixed feedback on the peppers being ungodly too hot & some of it, especially the sausage, having a good flavor. It was massive & messy. It was interesting initially but definitely didn't look appetizing to me. That came with a bowl of beans in sauce with what we later discovered were Chicharrón on top. It looked like boiled mystery chicken skin. A friend from SoCal I consulted online had no idea what it was from my photo as we tried to discern it & they didn't realize it was even Mexican food from the appearance. It was assumed I was at an Asian joint. We had to ask for drink refills far into our meal. I was given a fresh new cup. The server took another person's cup from the table and refilled it in the back. That was strange and seemed unsanitary. We didn't get everything we asked for. I'd say language was the problem except for the fact the server had understood my requests when "crema" was the only Spanish word I used. Ladies' room had room for one person at a time. The sink was backing up. It felt dingy like the rest of the building. I'm glad they had paper towels and not just a hand blower. I didn't choose the restaurant. It was one of the worst if not THE most horrible Mexican meals & experiences I've had in my life. Hard pass. I'd gladly pay more for better fare elsewhere. I can make far superior at home.

We opted for the 2 can dine for 20$ deal. They don't normally have street tacos so wanted to give them a try. It comes with 6 tacos Side of beans Side of rice We both chose to do 1 of each meat option. The steak was chopped up which was nice and had lots of flavor The pork was absolutely delicious and juicy The shredded beef was ok but lacked flavor and was greasy Rice was terrible and lacked flavor Bean were amazing as usual The tacos needed more onion and cilantro Keep in mind they are small and could use a bit more meat on them In addition we ordered the green chili queso and chips. The queso had a nice bit of heat to it and was creamy and had guacamole in it We also shared the taco of the month which is the Tokyo Drift. It was hands down the best taco they have. I'm adding a pic of what comes in the taco. I do wish it had more siracha mayo Overall great fast and delicious food.

As we moved to the bar to wait for our food, the bartender informed us that he had put away the rim device to salt our glasses. We had already paid, so what were we to do. We said, "ok." Then we questioned what time they closed. We doubled checked, 9:30. It was only 8:30. I don't prefer a margarita without salt but felt stuck. Also, it wasn't as if we were the last ones to come in. I counted at least 6 parties that came in after us. The chorizo queso was excellent. The tacos were decent. However, while it may seem like a small thing, the lack of salt on the rim of my $12 margarita really sunk this place for me. I've never bartended, but I don't feel like it's a lot of work to salt a rim. Even if the stuff was put away (an hour early).

I don't think you can really go wrong with the tacos, and the flights are a great deal that let you try things in a smaller portion (4 inch in the flight instead of 6 inch for a single taco) for a lower price point. I think my favorite was the Jackpot (jackfruit carnitas with BBQ sauce). Appreciated that they had veggie options! If you're gluten free, one thing to be aware of are the taco shells - for the epic tacos, the standard is a crispy corn shell inside of a soft flour shell. I got the Crabby Patty which had a "guacamole cushion," which I learned meant there was guac between the two shells. If no cushion is mentioned, it's just the two shells. IF you or a friend ask for gluten free, it's TWO layers of crispy corn shells. Lot of crisp. Corn fritters were also tasty. Everyone I came with was happy with their meals. :)

For my meal I ordered 3 tacos- the standout was absolutely the new brussel sprout taco. I have been thinking about that taco for a full week. The tortillas had that authentic flavor and texture you just don't get from chain restaurants, and the meat was flavorful, well-seasoned, and packed into every taco. The green salsa was the star of the show for me. Creamy, slightly spicy, and absolutely addictive. I found myself putting it on every bite. The fresh cilantro, onions, and generous lime wedges brought everything together perfectly. Simple ingredients done right. Beyond the food, I loved the atmosphere. It's part taqueria, part Mexican market, which always feels like a good sign when you're looking for authentic food. No frills, no gimmicks, just great food and a steady stream of customers who clearly know where to find the good stuff. If you're in Indianapolis and craving authentic street-style tacos, this place deserves a spot on your list. I'll definitely be back for more tacos and to explore more of the menu. Worth the stop.
