BUT... if you're looking for a nice dine-in experience go elsewhere. Taco Deli has all the ambience of a Walmart parking lot. Green, yellow and red lawn chairs, white boring walls, nondescript concrete floors, grey and black tile (yeah grey), and really horrible "Night at the Roxbury" dance music blaring. Worst of all, there's no alcohol service! (What's a taco without a beer?) For some reason they seem to only be open hours when I'm not hungry, (they closed at 3pm, on a Saturday, during my visit). Wow! $10.55 for two tacos and a small side of black beans and tap h2o. I wouldn't be writing this if the food was worth the price. Maybe I just ordered the wrong thing or maybe I just should have past this place by. It's a great concept,name and location for sure but they do make the customer pay for this location. I ordered the a pollo adobado and the mojo fish tacos. I was not thrilled with the presentation for starters. They could certainly fill up the basket for your $10.55 but you get the basics. Just small portions of your proteins sitting sadly on a flour tortilla. This isn't velvet taco or even close. Take a look at the picture and tell me this is worth the price..? Well the place gets great reviews and is pretty full of customers so what do I know. I do know not to order the pollo adobo again. It was not up to par, the mojo fish was tasty and worth ordering. They need to throw in some chips or something to make your stomach feel full because the portions are small. I can't see ordering another mini taco for $3.95 to feel full and I am only a 150# guy. The food was so so. The flavors of the mole that I got were passable. The beans and rice were subpar and overall it was food that I could eat so I wouldn't be hungry. What sets this place apart is the pork belly tacos, Delibelly! They have that on certain days of the week, Wednesdays and Saturdays. Luckily we came on a Saturday since it was the taco my brother loves and talks about. Delibelly is good. Has a slight sweet sauce on it. Reminds me of the hoisin sauce on a pork belly bao in an Asian restaurant. The onion is raw and strong. I would prefer grilled onion. It was a little over powering. I love avocados, but the creaminess masked the flavor of the pork belly a little. It was still the best tasting taco I had here and would definitely eat it again. My brother loves it so much, he ordered another after he finished his two tacos. And we were very full already! My second go to tacos are shrimp tacos. So I tried theirs. It was okay.... lacked in flavor, very plain. Would not get it again. The sauce made up for it though. I added their signature creamy green hot sauce. Which is so frickin' delicious! I can use it to dip my chips in, which I did. It had a kick and was flavorful. Love that they also have habanero sauce too. I like a little extra kick. And I just absolutely love the fact that they placed the sauce pumps at the bar for patrons to help themselves. You don't have to ask them for little tiny packages or anything. You just grab as much as you want. (I am quite obsessed with sauces) Roberto's brazo fuerte queso- eh.... not great. Too much added stuff that didn't compliment the queso. I would have preferred the original plain queso. The chips. Not sure if it's fresh. It came in a plastic sealed bag. So not really impressed there. Atmosphere - relaxed and laid back. Stand in line to order, sit down, they'll bring you your food when it's ready. Decor was pleasing and not bold in-your-face type. I like that they have a completely separate line for to go orders on the other side of their bar. I don't feel like I'm cutting in front of customers waiting to order just to pay for my to go order if I was running in and out. The workers are very helpful and pleasant. Tacodeli has such a large selection of tacos, including seafood and vegetarian options so everyone can enjoy. I've also had their salads before which are equally as delicious, but let's be real I'll order at least 1 taco with it. They make the softest flour and corn tortillas, which is a common setback of a lot of taco restaurants I try. GREAT tacos, very very good service, love their menu! I had a extremely pleasant experience here. I got: The Chips and Guac- super lime-y guacamole which I love and good corn tortillas chips prepackaged in a bag - love it! The Heather taco- grilled queso fresco, refried black beans, guac, lettuce, tomato. I thoroughly enjoyed this- especially with their hot sauces on top, mmm. My only critique would be for the lettuce to be shredded instead of chopped and the tomatoes cut smaller too. Still a great taco though! A breakfast taco- I customized it to have sautéed spinach, mashed potato, pico de gallo, and avocado. Delicious! My friend got some good lookin tacos too and the pozole looked very good too. We both really really enjoyed our meals and the hot sauces they offered. I got a spinach salad to go not realizing it came with bacon on it and they were happy to make a new one for me even though that was my fault. See what I said - awesome service. Ive been there three times and enjoyed the first couple times I went, however the last time I went in it was disappointing. I didn't care for the lukewarm refried beans plopped on top of the lukewarm rice. Visually unappealing like someone barfed or worse. Only one tortilla holding the lukewarm meat in the tacos so of course they fell apart before you could eat them, they should use two tortillas. They also charge extra for chips and salsa. It just seems like a lot of stinginess going on for their price points which aren't cheap. I will say the staff was friendly and nice but that may not be enough to draw me back there. read more

The prices are a little on the high side, but this is typical for Sylvan-Thirty (the location). Honestly, the service is super good. The people are so nice, the servers always ask how we are doing, everyone acts like they have the same level of investment as the owner. When I order chips and queso, the chips always seem to run out about 1/3 to 1/2 way into the queso, but they always spot me additional bags of chips. Organic Chicken! I enjoy eating at taco deli, especially their taco deli salad with chicken. It is loaded with sour cream, cheese, Romain lettuce, organic chicken, avocado, onions, and tomatoe. You can definitely add or remove anything that you may or may not like and there is a salsa bar for you to add a little kick. I really like that they have Maine Root soda. My favorite is the Mexican cola which is made with real cane sugar. Tacodeli has an assortment of tacos and salads and one of the best things is that they offer organic. The seating area is inside and outdoor patios, which makes it great since this place tends to be a little bit busy during lunch. Oak Lawn Coffee (RIP) used to cater these, and I would always get the Jess special (migas, avocado, and cheese) with a boatload of their signature salsa- salsa Doña. I could drink that stuff. To be honest, I was a little disappointed with the taste of the same taco at the actual restaurant. They taste better rolled up in foil, lukewarm, with melted cheese. The pollo en mole, pastor, and shrimp taco are excellent lunch choices. You really can't go wrong with any taco here. The brick and mortar store is in a trendy location, right next to Houndstooth Coffee, Ten Ramen, and Juiceland, to name a few places. DANGGGG!!!! Taco Deli has really brought the taco standard quality of a normal taco to a new and higher level. The original location began in Austin and slowly migrated to Dallas. My sister usually stops by the Austin location everytime she heads home to Dallas. Move over all gas station and Fuel City Taco joints, theres a new TACO HOT SPOT in town!!!! I ordered the Jess special and steak/egg taco which was soooo good. I could immediately tell how fresh the ingredients used to make the taco and it was tasted to perfection. The size of the taco was a bit larger compared to the typical gas station taco which makes it a great deal at an affordable price. The menu provided a variety of options which resulted with how difficult it was to making my decision on ONLY the breakfast options. The salsa is probably the reason why I shall be returning every week and the taste ties the whole taco together. I also got a chance to taste the potato/egg/cheese taco and STRONGLY recommend EVERYONE to try this option. The potato resembled gravy and Im a huge fan of gravy (white or brown).You will NOT regret it if you choose this taco option. Overall: I LOVE LOVE LOVEEEE Taco Deli. I dont think I could say anything negative about the place except for how they need bigger salsa cups so we can DRENCH OUR TACO with more salsa. Jk! This write up is for my breakfast. While my experience in Austin was 5* this location in Dallas is close to 5*, but not close enough. The space is fairly cool, a bit too industrial for my taste. The seating is mostly on hard plastic or wood (chairs, bench and bar stool height seats). The breakfast tacos I selected were the Otto, Migas and the Frontera Fundido. The Migas was my least favorite (not bad just a bit boring) while the Otto was my favorite (refried black beans and bacon are such a wonderful pairing). The Frontera Fundido was very good with the steak perfectly tender and onion and peppers perfectly cooked. But maybe a spoonful of egg makes it perfect? Man it was good though. And their sauces! The Salsa Doña and Habanero are awesome accompaniments. All in all a great visit, far better than my pervious days visit to Torchy's (meh at best). read more

You know how "I wanted to like this place is over used"... well I DIDN'T want to like this place. why, you ask? Well... this is Oak Cliff... with an authentic taco joint on every corner. We get there during the breakfast taco only time frame and the line is out the door. Ok, gives me time to look over the large menu over the counter to chose. My first bit of agitation comes when I realize the non breakfast tacos look so damn good and I can't have one. Secondly I had to hunt for the breakfast taco with any meats... ok, found them... ate them... shit... these are good, no... these are damn good, great. A bit of angry face and my friend laughs at me. I sneak off a few days later for the lunch tacos... I mean I just had to right? I mistakenly order a "daily special" item on the wrong day... drat. Ok, I order a couple other piggy related tacos and also got a chips and salsa to try. That dang tortilla... yes, you can have corn, but as a gringa I ordered the flour. They must make these things in house, because they aren't like those thick store bought kind... they are yummy as hell. So much so I ordered them again! Another thing... when I've eaten tacos they have always been kinda dry. As in you needed a bit of salsa to make it more edible... here you will want to leave the salsa off. The tacos are so moist and tasty all on their own. Then you will be conflicted because the salsa they make in house is so tasty you want to add some. Oh drat, what do I do? To add or not to add? the chips and salsa was good because they make the chips and then you get to satisfy that salsa issue... I recommend anything, because they were all great.. Atmosphere 5/5 Service 3/5 Freshness of food 4/5 Food as a whole 3.5/5 We got the Migas royale and the black beans were a great flavor, the queso was nice, but they forgot to add the potatoes and the eggs were over cooked. It also only came with 2 tortillas which I felt wasn't enough. The horchata had good flavoring but was very watery. It has good potential but missed the mark. I've been to Tacodeli down in Austin several times now, and as is documented in my reviews of those locations, I honestly wasn't a fan especially when you compare the chain's tacos to some of the wonderful options in Dallas and Austin alike. The Dallas location of Tacodeli mimics the Austin locations brilliantly, and arguably even improves on many of those locations with more floorspace and a great contemporary location. Even so, I still don't really think the tacos at Tacodeli really compete with some of the elite tacos in Dallas like Good 2 Go (http://www.yelp.com/biz/good-2-go-taco-dallas), Velvet (http://www.yelp.com/biz/velvet-taco-dallas?osq=Velvet+Taco), and Come (http://www.yelp.com/biz/el-come-taco-dallas). Bottom line? If you absolutely love Tacodeli down in Austin you will be smitten with the new Dallas location. If not, or if you've never been to a Tacodeli, you might be more inclined to agree with my A-OK marking here. Star 1: How were the service and atmosphere? As I touched on, the Dallas Tacodeli location is brilliant, with abundant floorspace and a streamlined and friendly service pipeline keeps the lines manageable even during peak hours. Speaking of hours, the fact that Tacodeli is only open for breakfast and lunch keeps it busy pretty much throughout the opening hours, so be advised that seating may be a bit limited even though it's abundant. Star Granted. Star 2: How were the portions relative to the cost? While Tacodeli could probably charge a premium being a hot new Austin-born kid on the block, they keep prices more than reasonable, and my tacos ranged between $3.00 and $4.50 even though they were pretty large. Chips and queso were sub-$5.00 as well, and the trend continued across what is a very broad menu. Stars 3 and 4: How was the food? So here's the breaking point. At the end of the day, both here and in Austin, I think Tacodeli's tacos are really nothing special. The standard options like Carne Asada and other traditional street tacos have decent flavor and the traditional onion and cilantro combination, but it was the breakfast tacos that I was really excited about, which were nothing more than plain. You can tell even by the picture that these are made assembly line style, with the eggs, jalapeno, etc. cooked separately and then stacked, which in my opinion is far inferior to cooking everything up together. I get that the partitioned approach allows them to come out faster, but at places like Good 2 Go and Velvet you can tell that everything is made to order together all at once. I will say that the queso was very, very good - as were the chips, so tack them onto your order if you're inclined. Single Star Granted. Star 5: Would you eat here every day if you could? Again, if you love Tacodeli, you'll love the Dallas location. If not, like me, you'll stick to the Dallas classic spots. No Star Granted. read more

I made the long drive for this little slice of Austin and it was worth it. The tacos are fresh the service is quick and the space is large enough for people to gather and still be intimate. I love their sides to tacos. I mean they have mashed potatoes on tacos. How can you not love that.
