Dined in for Wednesday lunch. Good service. Watermelon agua fresca was very good. Veggie tacos were solid. Glad that the refried beans were lard-free and black beans. Churros were a bit greasy and bland. Only real downside was that each menu item was $1-$2 overpriced, but I suppose that comes with the territory on the North Shore. read more

They are curbside only during COVID. Well, you can go up to the door. So they are very conscious about being safe. Biggest challenge I have is they close at 8pm. Because their tacos are delicious. After everyone raving about this place I knew I had to try it! we came here around lunch time on a Friday and it was somewhat busy. They took my order right away. We ordered veggie tacos and added chicken, steak, or grilled shrimp to the veggie taco. We did this because we heard that the veggie tacos are insane but we wanted protein. We got a side of guacamole (medium spice) and fries jalapeños. The tacos were dank. The shrimp one was REALLY fishy, to the point where I couldn't eat it. The chicken and steak ones were good. The quality of the meat is pretty decent. The medium spiced guacamole was spicy so only get that if you truly like spice! The fried jalapeños were, of course, delicious!!! For the 6 tacos, guacamole, and jalapeños, we ended up paying $50 which seemed rather high. But the food was worth it and we will be returning! read more

Found this spot while visiting some family in the area- sorted by highest rated in the area and landed on Taco Vida. Let me tell you it did not disappoint. We ordered up and everything was delicious. The carne asada, pastor and pollo tacos were all 10/10. Normally tacos are pretty small but these were so generously portioned I couldn't even finish my order of 3. Sides were also on point- guac, beans and plantains- highly recommend. They're also doing a great curbside pickup set up due to the pandemic and you don't even have to get out of your car. Quality of food was really good, logistics of ordering is a little cramped and on busy days expect a long wait. Prices are fairly high for tacos - minimum $3+/taco but the menu has a rotating "taco of the week" which is inventive with quality ingredients. I am a fan of al pastor tacos and sadly would recommend skipping that taco here - the few times I have ordered it the tacos were really greasy. Other tacos (chicken tinga, shrimp, ahi tuna) were really good. Also recommend the habanero sauce - will make you sweat! UPDATED to correct that this is not a sister restaurant of Taco Nano, the owners were formerly the mgmt team of Taco Nano. Apologies! The tacos and quesadillas are stupendous! The crispy camarones live up to their name! My two favorite tacos are carne asadas and the crispy camarones. The cheese quesadillas are amazing. Last night my husband and I went to Taco Vida for a rare night out. The food was delicious; we had vegetarian tacos, street corn, black beans, guacamole, and watermelon water. The only shadow on the evening was the self-important a$$ at the next table who felt it was his duty to loudly dictate his dissatisfied yelp review into his phone. As it is a small restaurant, each customer, and all of the staff were forced to listen to his opinion. Despite being trashed, the staff was gracious and attentive. My advice to him, stick to Taco Bell and Chipotle. read more

This restaurant is a larger version of Taco Nano in Northfield with a slightly expanded menu. The food is just as good with great service. My go-to order usually consists of al pastor tacos with a side of beans and plantains. They normally have a featured taco like ahi tuna or brisket. I haven't had a bad dish yet. read more

I just had one of the most disrespectful encounters with customer service in a restaurant that i have ever had here by the owner named susan. I ordered 3 tacos to go ahead of time but decided to eat them in the restaurant so i paid and sat down and realized there were no limes so i asked for some, they bring me 5 dry limes that i used up in 2 of the 3 tacos (i really like limes) then i am out of lime for my third taco so i turn around and get a white lady's attention and ask politely "can i have 2 more limes please" she turns to me and says "we cant give out unlimited limes" then proceeds to walk away from me... i look at the other workers who are shocked and someone gets me 2 limes and she begrudgingly brings me them. At this point i do not feel welcome so i pack up the rest of my food that was not cheap might i add, i ask onther worker if they had seen how rude this woman was to me and she says "she is the owner you will have to talk to her" i shake my head at the thought of the owner being that rude to customers. She sees this and says "oh dont shake your head" i turn and say "have you ever heard of the customer is always right?" She says "well i am the owner so i can limit the amount of limes i give you" again i am shocked at how rude the owner is being to me, i have spent countless lunches here. I look at another man who i now know is her husband freddy and the other owner who has always been very nice to me and i say "can you believe how rude she was?" And he goes "im sorry i will talk to her". If she was just an employee i would not be upset but the fact that the owner lacks customer service and was completely rude to a paying customer is ridiculous. read more

I knew what to expect as I have dined at Freddy's last two previous establishments. High quality ingredients everything made from scratch. Horchata is amazing. Crispy camarones my wifes favorite. Ribeye special this week on point. Al pastor won't disappoint done the authentic way. For those who gave or read the 1 star review by all means give it another shot. If you have any issue with the food take if up to the wonderful staff or Freddy himself (hes actually there most of the time believe it or not!) I promise they will take care of you! This is a top notch place, with focused and driven employees. Finally for those looking for a Michelin star taco experience this is the real deal. I recently went to Topolobombo Rick Bayless's 1 star Mexican staple in Chicagon and Rick has nothing on Freddy's flavors or taco shells. Great margaritas and glass. read more

It looks simple from the outside but SO cute and pink on the inside. If this place was in Chicago it would definitely be a hot spot! The tacos are on the pricey side ($3-$5) but you can probably fill up with two tacos since they are packed with filling. The Crispy Camarobes was my favorite!! The carne asada was plain and I needed to add red and green salsas, which were sooo good. I got the al pastor for my bf and he said it was pretty good. The owner/cashier was very sweet. My only gripe was that they have a fridge full of red and green salsas but only employees can access and they didnt give it to us until we asked for it. I am addicted to the ahi tuna tacos! Since discovering Taco Vida 3 weeks ago I've been there 6 times! I had to return the very next day after my first visit because I couldn't stop thinking about the taste sensation I experienced. Nothing like it! The fresh, crunchy, marinated veggies and the soy chili aioli kick the perfectly seared chunk of tuna wrapped in a homemade corn tortilla out-of-the-park! The guacamole, street corn, & queso dip....all delicious! And what's not to love about pairing it all up with a tall cold watermelon water, sometimes with Tito's! And there are a few tables outside to make a perfect summer meal. OMG I love this place....can't wait to get back there in a few days, only because I have to pace myself. read more
