An interesting option for me. While it's not really as flavorful as some of the other Mexican restaurants nearby it does offer a clean spot with very reasonable prices (particularly on Taco Tuesday), spacious dining room, and nice seating to socialize with friends. It's also fairly easy to park here and service is pretty quick and friendly. The menu is not super adventurous which helps appeal to a wide audience, but at the same time offers 15 protein options, which is more than enough choices to make repeat visits interesting. In addition to being a pleasant spot to hangout with friends, the reasonable pricing here -- particularly with the option to make the meal quite healthy, is something that will draw me back for repeat visits. The portion sizes are pretty good as well and the churros are a great dessert to finish the meal. Overall, a solid option to enjoy Mexican cuisine in a nice setting. The meat could use a little more seasoning, and the salsas could probably be kicked up a notch as well (even the spiciest option was pretty mild for me), but still enjoyable. read more

I only subtract one star because this location is slightly lacking in comparison to the Rosemont location - it's not as big and they don't have a self serve sauce/pickled vegetable bar. The food itself is pretty good - the steak has a lot of flavor in the tacos and it's a large portion size, the same with the taco salad. If you're in Wheeling and want a good quick service Mexican chain restaurant, I'd recommend Cilantro in Wheeling. read more

Absolutely terrible. I never leave reviews you can check my history, but the steak was inedible. It's right next to the Westin hotel which is where I had my annual chess tournament and they were unprepared for us when they clearly had a year's notice of the event happening. read more

A New Mexican restaurant that I'd stop by and try it really clean the menu is decent. It has a lot of other things that you dont normally see in a chain restaurant. They have pretty good reviews ordered three taco combination.. I ordered chili relleno was good Cecina was not great lengua excellent . I was waiting for my carryout order and the lady came over and brought it to my table. Great service Had a pretty good crowd. The food looked amazing that I did see that came out. I drove past this Cilantro a day earlier and noticed it was new since my last visit to the area. I was in a hurry for dinner the following evening, and this worked very well. This is evidently the newest location of a popular taco chain in the northern Chicago suburbs. . I ordered a taco dinner, which is 3 tacos of your choice including Mexican rice and beans, plus a side of chips and salsa. The order was ready in about 7 minutes. The salsa is chilled but fresh, and about halfway between regular and medium. Containers of salsa of various spiciness are available on request when you pick up your order. Without extra garnishes, your tacos come with chives and a lot of fresh cilantro (which I appreciated), and the soft tacos are double wrapped (which I also appreciated). A variety of cold beverages are available, including Jarritos, which I'll always get with tacos when available. Service was friendly and fairly fast, but it slowed down a bit as more customers entered. My first visit to Cilantro was in advance of its grand opening -- because who can resist a new taco place in the neighborhood? In addition to tacos, the menu includes burritos, a taco salad and some larger entree plates. You order at the counter, and when your food is ready, you pick it up and bring it to your table. Our order took awhile to prepare, which was surprising because the place was not at all busy, but again, they'd just opened days before. I was tempted by a few items, but decided to try tacos on this visit since the restaurant is named for them. I had a choice of several meats, and I liked that each one was the same price -- $3.95 per taco. I opted for a pollo taco and a fish taco. They came topped with cilantro and onion, and bottles of sauce were available at the counter upon the request of dine-in customers. I chose one of the milder sauces, and it still delivered a nice kick. The tacos were good -- I liked the fish better, but also wouldn't hesitate to order chicken again. Like they are at many Mexican restaurants, the tacos were pretty small. All three of us in my party also asked for water, and were a little surprised that tap water wasn't an option. Instead, we paid $2 per bottle of water. I would have rather put the extra $6 toward another taco or two! We ate in the restaurant, which is decorated in cilantro green. The tables were clean and we didn't have any complaints other than it seemed a bit on the pricy side for the size of the portions. While we enjoyed our food in the moment, the tacos weren't particularly memorable. I'm hoping there will be coupons or Taco Tuesday deals or something to keep people coming back. I love Mexican food and was looking forward to try out a new restaurant in the area. Ordered 3 tacos, a burrito and 1 beverage and requested no sour cream on the burrito. It was a to go order and the wait was long although nobody was in the restaurant. Took so long with our to go order we left and remembered they never gave us our drink and my burrito had sour cream on it although I asked a few times no sour cream. I didn't like my burrito this time. Overall not the best experience at Wheeling's Cilantro location but there's always room for improvement. I would try them again in the future. read more

I came in to pick up my order. After returning to work, I reviewed my receipt and noticed that a tip had been added. Why is there a tip charge when I picked up my food myself? I provided my card number, and the card was charged without my physical card being present. When I called back for help, I was told there was no manager on site and they didn't know when he would return--"maybe tomorrow." I asked who was in charge while the manager was away and was told there is someone in charge, but they do not speak English. How is a business run this way? How are customers supposed to address issues if there is no one available to assist them? I was also told that the cashier could not add a tip themselves, which is not true, since I never saw or interacted with the payment screen--the transaction was handled entirely by the cashier. I stopped at Cilantro in wheeling Sat after work. I ordered Taco salad with Pastor and a coke. The meat wasnt good. It must of been old it had a funny taste to it. I called the restaurant but the manager wasn't in....I called again Sun but no one answer the phone so I left a message for the manager but the manager never calles me. Really happy all around with our experience. I took my kids and we all had tacos. They were delicious and I was happy they were heavy handed with the fillings. Honestly, you could have made two tacos out of what they gave you in one. They brought a variety of sauces to the table that were all tasty. The service was really bad, and the workers were rude. We came into the restaurant, and we were the only ones there. We ordered our food, and more people started coming in. Everyone was getting their food before us. We only got a few things, nothing out of the ordinary. We at first said do you know how much longer because 20 minutes had gone by, they said, " Oh, that's because those are called-in orders. That was not true because people were ordering off the menu. Then 30 min. went by, they were doing all the drive-thru orders. People were getting bags of food. Finally, we asked if we could just get a refund. The woman looked at the counter, opened a bag that had been sitting there for 20 min. and handed it to us. No joke, no exaggeration. She did not appologize nothing, just handed the bag to us. The quesabirrias are so good here! We've also tried their burrito dinner plate and burrito bowl. The portions are very good, and I've never been to Mexico but I think they taste pretty authentic, less "americanized" compared to other places I've tried before. Since this location has opened up, I have eaten here 3 times and everything from the food and staff have been above and beyond the best and I've been eating at Cilantro Taco Grill since 2018. The new location has great decor and is very clean with a fun vibe about it. I had a chance to meet the owner who was really friendly and down to earth.
