I was hesitant to try this place because, how can a little shop just pop up on Central Rd and be good? Lemme tell ya, every interaction I had with these dudes, they were super friendly and accommodating. The place is super clean, the food is REALLY tasty. The prices are just right. To me it's like someone opened up a place, and they too like to eat reasonably priced clean, deliciously seasoned fresh food. Mission accomplished y'all. Tripas taco, got the half crispy half soft, delicious Asada, Pastor good work Bowl was dope! Taco salad, never had it before...got mine with Al pastor AND chile relleno. Life changing. (Pre diabetes----diabetes) but so what sooo yummy. that crispy shell tho. Tacos are good, very good sear, good tortillas.

Great little taco place hidden in a strip mall. Tasty tacos, rice and beans. Also serve breakfast burritos!

08/14/21 - My wife & I were hungry after getting new tires on my car @ Discount Tires & decided to grab some tacos. I looked on Yelp & found Taco Town about 2 miles away. We both grabbed a taco combo plate that came w/3 tacos, beans & rice for $9.95. My wife got 2 pork & chicken taco. I got 2 pork & a fish taco. The unfortunate part is Mexican restaurants are a dime a dozen so when I saw 4 1/2 stars we decide to check it out. Unfortunately the food wasn't very good. The food came out immediately. The pork was over cooked & was precooked & warmed up when we ordered it. The fish was ok but very tiny. All of the portion sizes were small and not very good. Sorry to say but the food wasn't very good & there is too much competition w/better food

My boyfriend and I tried the Al pastor tacos, steak tacos, and breakfast chorizo burrito. Everything was super flavorful and left us feeling very full but not heavy- which is a feeling I experience with many Mexican restaurants these days. The service was great, everyone was kind and very quick. The restaurant was small, had some seating, and was overall very clean. We'll be back for sure!

Taco town recently opened in a strip mall in Arlington Heights. The restraunt is geared more for take out, even though they do have indoor seating. The girl who took our order was very friendly and polite. I tried a chicken taco salad. It was packaged very well and was in one piece . The salad had rice , beans, avocado, chicken and sour cream. The taco shell was flaky. My husband tried steak and shrimp tacos. They had cilantro and onions and were on corn tortillas. Overall, they were very good. They could provide a larger portion of salsa, it definitely was not enough. I'd also recommend for a new place, they offer some specials to entice customers to come in.

Overcharged due to a glitch in ordering online. Paid $17 for a steak burrito and the burrito was fair. Steak lacks flavor.

We recently diverged from our usuals and tried the sando with pork katsu. It had some shredded vegetable and ketchup-base sauce. I am indifferent to it but I am not opposed to trying the other savory items. We have gone on different days and times over the years. The shelves are almost always well-stocked. Sometimes we would have a brief wait for them to replenish the raisin bread loaves but it is the mister's favorite so it is worth it. The bakery staff are very friendly and quick so the lines are kept moving.

This has been my routine for decades, yet I just realized that I had never actually left a rating for it. What makes this bakery especially appealing is its soft, airy, and smooth bread and buns, which are handmade using ingredients sourced directly from Japan. My personal favorite is the red bean bun. While my sister loves their sandwiches and milk bread, which has an incredibly soft, fluffy, and moist texture. All of their bread and buns are made fresh daily. Many years ago, they even allowed their staff to take home any unsold sandwiches and bread at the end of the day! With increasing competition from newer Korean and Taiwanese bakeries, I hope Pastry House Hippo continues to stay competitive. As a self-serve bakery, it would be nice if the buns were individually wrapped, something many other bakeries already do, to help prevent contamination from careless customers. My most recent visit was on the second day of the new year, and I was happy to see the shop bustling with customers. I hope this little bakery continues to thrive for many years to come.

Initial impression wasn't great... The smell was really the main reason why. The shop itself definitely had a smell, I can't really describe what it was but it was not pleasant. There was one person working, he was polite but did not have much personality. Most of our questions were met with him telling us that we ordered "over there" as he points to the register. It just did not have a very welcoming energy. Only of our kids got ice cream as the flavors did not catch them like they had hoped it would. My Youngest got a coconut ice cream with waffle cone (she loved it), it was a subtle coconut flavor but very refreshing. My oldest daughter got a match drink w boba, hers was also good but not her favorite. I ended up getting the soft serve mix (Tofu/Black Sesame) which was definitely unique and I did enjoy it but no one else i was with did. After checking out, we were offered free stickers which was a nice gesture and I talked about their Japanese Car theme which seemed to liven up the man working momentarily. My family was not impressed but I enjoyed the experience. Very unique compared to what we are used to seeing. I would most likely return, but I am not confident my family would follow.
