I have eaten here twice & absolutely love the flavor of their food! I was honestly shocked by the poor reviews and felt compelled to write one. We ordered breakfast last week- a steak & egg burrito and tamale plate. Burrito was delicious and their salsas are fantastic! Had to go back for tacos tonight w/ cilantro and onion. Steak is by far my favorite- excellent portion, well-seasoned & not dry. My new favorite in the area, I think. Al pastor, carnitas, and chile relleno were also great. I don't usually leave reviews like this, but this experience missed the mark across the board. I ordered the gringo burrito, and the fries inside were soggy and somehow still semi-frozen in the center. On top of that, the meat portion was extremely small--definitely not what you'd expect for the price. The tamale was another letdown. It was overpriced, tiny, super dry, and wrapped in plastic, which is honestly concerning. The rice and beans tasted like they had been cooked weeks ago and reheated multiple times. There was a noticeable styrofoam/plastic smell, and the flavor came off artificial--almost chemical-like. It barely resembled real food... more like PlayDoh. The only reason I'm giving 1 star instead of zero is because the salsa (verde and roja) was actually good. We have tried them twice , it's just never been good at all !! This past time we just ordered 6 tacos, 2 burritos, 1 quesadilla and chips with salsa ! The chips were greased filled and so stale I could have broken a tooth. The pork in the tacos lacked taste. Also the quesadilla was folded in 4 and stuck together was just a blob. read more

awesome place! Taco town is located in a strip mall in Arlington Heights. You order at the counter. They have multiple tables inside if you choose to dine there, however I personally ordered to go. It's your typical quick service restaurant. No frills but clean! I always order steak tacos with cilantro & onions from any Mexican restaurant I go to, and I must say these were delicious. I was hesitant to try this place because, how can a little shop just pop up on Central Rd and be good? Lemme tell ya, every interaction I had with these dudes, they were super friendly and accommodating. The place is super clean, the food is REALLY tasty. The prices are just right. This place is great. The staff was nice and attentive. The establishment was very clean, not used to that so much with hole in the wall taco joints (I was actually surprised how long they have been open since everything looked so clean and new). The steak was perfectly cooked in my Carne Asada Taco. My husband loved the flavor of the Al Pastor and said the Chile Rellino was awesome. We live 20 minutes away but would definitely come back. 08/14/21 - My wife & I were hungry after getting new tires on my car @ Discount Tires & decided to grab some tacos. I looked on Yelp & found Taco Town about 2 miles away. We both grabbed a taco combo plate that came w/3 tacos, beans & rice for $9.95. My wife got 2 pork & chicken taco. I got 2 pork & a fish taco. The unfortunate part is Mexican restaurants are a dime a dozen so when I saw 4 1/2 stars we decide to check it out. Unfortunately the food wasn't very good. The food came out immediately. The pork was over cooked & was precooked & warmed up when we ordered it. The fish was ok but very tiny. All of the portion sizes were small and not very good. My boyfriend and I tried the Al pastor tacos, steak tacos, and breakfast chorizo burrito. Everything was super flavorful and left us feeling very full but not heavy- which is a feeling I experience with many Mexican restaurants these days. Love the regular tacos! Decided to try the birria tacos + consome and I'm sooo disappointed. They're both just so so bland and the consome was mostly oil. The tortilla isn't crispy at all so it just gets soggy and gross. The meat was okay but again just very bland overall. Had really high hopes but there are much better places to get birria, don't waste your money. read more

Taco town recently opened in a strip mall in Arlington Heights. The restraunt is geared more for take out, even though they do have indoor seating. The girl who took our order was very friendly and polite. I tried a chicken taco salad. It was packaged very well and was in one piece . The salad had rice , beans, avocado, chicken and sour cream. The taco shell was flaky. My husband tried steak and shrimp tacos. They had cilantro and onions and were on corn tortillas. Overall, they were very good. They could provide a larger portion of salsa, it definitely was not enough. I'd also recommend for a new place, they offer some specials to entice customers to come in. read more

Great quick grab if you have something going on at melas park. The place is small and has four or five booths and they are reduced in space if you a bigger person like me but they have chairs just in case. When I walked in I was greeted by the girl at the register. Also, something I didn't like was there was a smell that was funky and that my reason for four stars. The food on the other hand was very delicious and you can see the cooks thru the window cooking your food. I got 3 steak taco dinner, birria ramen, steak burrito no rice, steak and al pastor burrito, and steak torta. The portions were really good the steak tacos were marinated very good. The steak and al pastor burrito was very delicious I would have liked the al pastor a little well done because it has a better taste but it was delicious regardless. Also, the rice inside the burrito takes it to another level very good my favorite out of everything. The birria ramen was just a tapatío ramen with added birria and cilantro and chopped onions. If you are a ramen person you would enjoy it. The steak torta was really tasty as well. The price for the food is reasonable. They have horchata and jamica water and jarritos, Mexican coke and canned pop. They have dessert like flan, tres leaches cake, empanadas and sugar buñuelo. I was so excited to see Taco Town opening in the neighborhood. This area needed some new flavors, especially with the closing of a couple very long time running other restaurants in the same plaza. Taco Town has a fairly common menu of tacos, tortas, burritos, tostadas and other items in familiar configurations as you would see in most places. They also have a nice selection of "street breakfast" items consisting of breakfast burritos, tacos and plates. Now that I have been here several times to try a variety of their menu I have to say this place is very consistent and tastes good. I really like the chorizo tacos and and pork tamales in particular. The place is spotless, I mean really spotless. They keep this place clean from front end dining area all the way through the open kitchen. The staff is super friendly and always greets you with a welcoming smile. If I had only one complaint (and this might sound funny) it is that the place is almost too clean. I am looking forward to several months down the road once they get the grills good and seasoned and it feels a little more like a local taco joint. It just feels and at times feels a bit too sterile. They are very good now and I have zero doubt they are going to be great. I will certainly be there quite a bit to help them break things in. Good job Taco Town. Our first visit was great! We thought we had found the perfect local spot for a quick, filling, tasty burrito. Our burritos had a fair amount of what they were supposed to have in them. The burritos that we got today didn't look anything like the ones we got before. They looked flat! That's because they were essentially tortilla burritos. Mine had plenty of tomatoes and shredded lettuce. No cheese, no sour cream, one bean and a tablespoon of asada. My husband's was worse as he asked for no lettuce. $24 for 2 cans of Diet Coke and 2 burritos. Afterwards, my husband said, Where are we going next to get some food? So, you may be lucky and get the person who made our first burritos or unlucky and get today's burrito maker. This place is bangarang. My kids both got ground beef tacos and loved them. Husband got the Gringo Burrito with steak -- again, delicious. I had the pastor and chorizo tacos -- chorizo was super flavorful without being too greasy. Pastor had lots of flavor and was very juicy. Cilantro and onions were fresh, and the homemade salsas were really good. They also gave us extra spicy salsa, which we enjoyed. I just ordered for the first time last weekend and I was more than surprised by how amazing the food was. I'm always on the lookout for delicious nachos and these are definitely my favorite out of all Mexican restaurants in the area. Perfect chips to hold up to the toppings and it was overall so good. The Asada fries were perfect. The balance of the cheese with the other toppings worked so well. I'd recommend this to anyone. The steak for the tacos steals the show. The seasoning was amazing, the streak was cut to the perfect size and the meat was tender. I can't recommend this enough! I ordered delivery and the service was fast and everything packed so well.
