I had high hopes for this place, but overall it was just okay. The tacos were a mixed bag: the meat was flavorful but slightly dry. The rice was standard -- nothing bad, but nothing memorable either. Prices were reasonable, but for the quality, I was expecting a bit more in the flavors to stand out in some way. It wasn't a bad experience, just not one I'd go out of my way to repeat. If you're nearby and craving Mexican food, it'll do -- but it's not worth a special trip. read more

We were in the area and saw the sign that says "Best Mexican Food In Town" so we had to check it out! When you enter the restaurant you seat yourself. A waitress brings you chips and salsa and the menu. We saw at least 10 people come in for large pickup orders. It looks like the building was a Pizza Hut in the past. The restaurant is clean and nicely decorated but could use some updates but definitely feels cozy. The weather is in the 90's and the restaurant is nice and cool! There are several TV's mounted on the wall throughout the restaurant. Two are showing menu items, one is showing a soccer game, one is showing golf. and the last one is just some random tv program. The sound is off and they are playing Spanish music. There are lots of great menu items. I had a hard time picking out something to eat. I have never had a torta and decided to order the Chile Relleno Torta. It was spectacular! The bread was crispy and warm on the outside and soft and chewy on the inside. It was seasoned perfectly and I could taste all the individual ingredients. I would definitely order again and recommend you try it as well. Definitely better then I expected. My husband ordered the Carne Asda burrito Suizo which he orders everywhere. Wow it is huge and the meat was tender and definitely one of the top 5 that he has ever eaten! I am not sure why it has taken me so long to write a review , for one of my favorite authentic Mexican restaurants. I have tried a variety of dishes and they all have been great. This time we had take out and I had the taco salad. Taco salads is one of my go to meal options, and I am always impressed how well they package it . The salad is large, and the taco shell is by far my favorite. My husband usually has their tacos and has tried the carne asada and shrimp. Both are always great. It is generally busy, but the staff always provide excellent service, and are always so nice. The restaurant is not huge, but it has a comfy vibe. I had ordered the Caldo de 7 Marisco and well... It was alright. The thing that made it not so appetizing was the fact there was more imitation crab than anything. I do not like imitation crab... I walked in and went to the hostess counter I was ignored until a white couple came in behind me and the hostess greeted them first then asked me if I had been helped. I said no she proceeded to sit me at a table. I was asked if I wanted coffee and then she walked away. The waitress came by and took my order. I ordered the ham and regular breakfast w/ pancakes. I ate most of it but yearned for another cup of coffee which everyone around me got refills, I was never asked. This place doesn't seem to like my kind so I fortunately don't have to go back. It's located right besides a little strip mall (mighty convenient if you ask me, strip mall--it has a panaderia, small market, and a few other eating goodies). I believe they share parking--I know I parked there with no issues, but don't quote me. After persuing the menu, I decided on the wet burrito, the taco dinner (asada and al pastor), chile relleno taco, and a tamale. I personally am not a fan of the tamale. I found it too dry. Everything else was on point. Wet burrito--might tasty! I do wish the mixed the filling inside a bit more so that every/most bites had a bit of meat and veggies, rather than bites of meat, and then bites of veggies. Not a biggie though, I kind of just mix it up myself. I didn't eat the tacos, but I was told it was good. I did eat the chile relleno taco and that was tttaassttty! First, very hard to find front door. We were told to go around to the other side, but it was an emergency exit. We went back to the opposite side and found the entrance with a metal pull handle. Ok, now we are inside. They are packed with a-lot of families and Very loud! We got waited on, got our water and ordered pretty quickly. It took some time for our food to arrive, but the food was good. We ordered the tostada dinner and the #1 combination. My wife loved her combination and would suggest it to everyone. I got the tostada dinner and menudo, but we're ok. They are very selfish with the beans on the tostadas and the side. Overall, a good place to eat and ok service. I'm going to try this place again sometime soon. I took my food to go, so it wasn't hot and fresh and crispy (for the things that should have been crispy), so I'll need to give it another try. My experience was average. Ordered tacos (steak, al pastor, tripas, and fish tacos). Tripe tacos weren't the best I've had, but that's probably because the texture wasnt there due to taking it to go. I'd try this again for sure next time in the store. Reviews (and also the guy at the counter) said the tripe tacos are excellent. Steak taco was probably my favorite. Juicy, soft meat. Al pastor was a little dryer. Fish tacos were my least favorite. Kind of seemed like it was an American fish stick with cilantro and onions in my taco. ha. Kind of a weird mix. I'd stick to steak and tripas next time. The horchata was excellent. And to top that off, they had cards (compliments of Los Compadres) for a free round of bowling at Elk Grove Bowl. Ok I am giving this place 5 stars because they really deserve it! I was doing a good job of taking photos until our dinner came out- it looked so good and fresh I forgot to take a pic, I just started digging in until the the plate was clean! This is our second time here. The food is fresh and tastes oh so good. My friend did an asada dinner. I did the sopes dinner. The asada is good and the Al pastor is very good! The rice and beans are delicious, no slop here, just some good beans and good rice. The salad is fresh too and you can tell they wash the iceberg lettuce well. The service is great, from the seating hostess, to the server, to the cashier checking us out. We ordered the chocoflan and tres leches to go, the flan is sooo good!!Reasonably priced, good food, and good service. Definitely coming back for more. read more

I cannot imagine what damage it would do to a toddler. Dangerous door. Anyway, when I opened my lunch, there were onions all over it. I had to pick out all the tiny diced pieces. I have to agree with their slogan that they are the best flavor and variety in Mexican food in town! :) They have a huge menu at fantastic prices, it's really hard to pick just one thing! The entire menu is mainly in Spanish and the good news for my coworkers is I came along & am fluent. Bam! I translated some of the veggies & toppings for them so they'd know exactly what they're getting. I had a Lime Jarritos and La Gringa Torta which is appropriate since I'm a white girl and all. La Gringa comes with eggs, ham, two types of cheese, mayo, lettuce, and tomatoes. I absolutely loved this but it's huge! It's $4.99 which is a very good price for the size. After chowing down on the complimentary tortilla chips, I could only muster the strength to finish a half of the torta. I have lunch for tomorrow, woohoo! When you're done, you pay up at the front. I suggest getting a smoothie to go on your way out for $2.50. My friend got the pina colada today and it was Mmm Mmm Delicioso! Update 9/15: The Asada taco was the best I've ever had!
