    Quesadillas Dinner
    Tammy C.

Hubby & I tried Los 2 Pollos while visiting the Chicago area. We dined in and the service was friendly. The chicken taco was delicious. We also ordered a couple quesadillas with carne asada and chorizo. The tortillas are made in house. The quesadillas were more like tacos but tasty. Everything was so good we didn't even notice we didn't order a side of sour cream. I highly recommend the horchata as well. If I lived here, I'd be a regular.

We ate here a few years ago when it was Los 2 Amigos, it is now Los Das Pollos. We were planning on ordering and taking out, but we decided to eat in. We were greeted immediately and offered a table, which is what changed our mind. A basket of complimentary chips and salsa were offered, and they were good, but not outstanding. My husband had the carne -skirt steak tacos. Each had a good amount of steak and were topped with onions, cilantro and cheese. I decided to try something different and noticed the other customers were all eating the chicken ,so I tried the pollo asada. It was half of a grilled chicken , served with rice, beans, corn tortillas and lots of french fries. I was not expecting the fries, but they were very good. The chicken was very flavorful, juicy and enough for a second meal. Their selection of non-alcoholic drinks was limited and on a cold, winter day the the restaurant was a bit cold. Even the food was good, nothing in particular stood out from other Mexican restaurants we have been to.

I've been here a couple times now and it's a great place for affordable authentic Mexican cuisine. It's clean, modern, nicely decorated, and quality of food make it 4 stars. If you dine in you receive a basket of complimentary chips and salsa. They also have daily specials listed on the white board next to the kitchen window. We had the three tacos special with can of soda (choice of chicken, pork, chorizo, or steak) great price and delicious for $6.50, al pastor burrito (had lettuce, beans, tomato and cheese), it was ok, and chicken flautas with rice and beans (loved it) . Ask for additional items on your dish if you wish I'm sure they can accommodate. Good service and they also have take out.

We decided to sit outside on the patio, which honestly wasn't much different from other restaurant patios. The cocktail Paloma was marked on the menu as "the most popular," which is why I ordered it, but I simply didn't enjoy it. The same goes for the food. I ordered the Salsa Verde enchiladas, and I can't really say they were good either. They tasted somewhat sour to me. One great touch, though, was the complimentary chips with three different dips served as an appetizer. While we're not huge fans of that kind of snack, many people are, so it's definitely a nice addition while waiting for the main course.

So, I stopped in during the week, just after lunch time and found this little hole-in-the wall of a restaurant conveniently nestled in a shopping center next to the local Walmart. Even though I walked in and the restaurant was completely empty, the pure vibrancy of the decor and the cheerfulness of the staff encouraged me to stay. Not to mention that the aroma making its way out from the kitchen was absolutely mouth-watering. I took a seat at the bar while I perused the menu and was delighted in the simplicity of it. You know the food is about to be fire when the menu is simple and a restaurant focuses on what it does well. In addition to the excellent service, the food was absolutely phenomenal. I started off with some chips and salsa.... which was delightfully flavorful and perfectly crisp. Then, I had a bowl of the tortilla soup. Each spoonful was like deja vu. Each bite made me feel like I was in my grandmother's kitchen as a little girl all over again. The broth was perfectly seasoned and each bite came with a chunk of chicken and an assortment of veggies... truly perfecto! Once I was done with the appetizers, I made my decision to try two tacos from the menu. The first was a salmon taco--and it didn't TASTE FISHY. It was grilled to perfection and then paired with an unexpected yet delicious topping of crispy potato strings and chipotle aioli. I ate every bite of this. It was the perfect combination of crunch and flavor, I just couldn't get enough. Then I also ordered the carne asada a cabron taco. Simple, yet dynamically flavorful. I was so full at this point but took this one home to eat at a later time. Still as amazing as the day I ordered it i'm sure. While I neglected to have any desserts or margaritas here, I was assured that they are just as remarkable as anything else. I had a wonderful meal, excellent service and I greatly look forward to going back if i'm ever in the area again for work. 10/10 Highly recommend!!

Abby was funny, fast, attentive, and somehow managed to appear at our table exactly when we needed something. More importantly, she made margaritas that tasted like they had been blessed by a tequila wizard. I'm convinced she put extra love in mine. Either that or she saw I was from out of town and decided I needed professional assistance. At one point I started wondering whether Abby actually works for Lady Dahlia or if she just travels the country improving restaurant experiences one table at a time. The food was solid.
