Very good authentic Mexican restaurant located north of O'Hare airport. It was walking distance from my airport hotel (Best Western O'Hare North) and was an unexpected pleasant find. Gratis authentic Corn ships with two types of homemade salsa are served as you arrive where I followed that up with a very tasty large Margarita ($11) and a large El Pastor burrito ($11) which was very good in its own right. The facility itself is clean with a nice Mexican decor and the staff is super friendly, with quick service, nice follow up and an ever present smiling face. So nice to see happy faces versus the dour faces I see too often at some of the restaurants I frequent. Overall it was a very good and enjoyable meal where nibbling on well made chips and salsa and washing it down with a excellent Margarita is hard to beat in my book! Due to the reviews we decided to drive a bit further to taste what the rating were about and we were not disappointed! As soon as we walked in we were greeted with a smile and seated. Dining area is clean, floors swept and bathroom sanitized. There are flat screens to watch your sports team and the owner will change the channel to the game you desire. I always order a shrimp cocktail, filete de pescado with garlic and a ice cold michilada to wash down my meal. The fresh made salsa is spicy with a delicious kick. Team members always go above and beyond to accommodate our dining experience. The fish ceviche is a must too. We will be back to taste the goodness at Los Arcos. High end taste for a quality cost. Came here a few weeks ago after it was HIGHLY recommended on many occasions over the past few years by my friends. My mom works closeby, so we stopped by after she had to swing by her office while I was visiting the burbs one weekend. Every table except one was occupied when we entered, so luckily we were seated right away. The place remained packed throughout our entire meal! Food: + Chips/Salsa: Complimentary. There's a red salsa and a green salsa. Both are pretty spicy, but that green salsa is SO tasty. It must be an avocado based salsa. So delicious (again, highly recommended by my friends). We ended up buying a 16 oz container of it to go for $8 and split it between my friend and myself. + Cheese Enchiladas: Came with a red sauce with rice/beans on the side. This was my mom's dish and she definitely enjoyed it! I had my own in my combo and definitely thought it was delicious. + Sope/Taco/Enchilada Combo: This is what I got and I enjoyed it all SO much! I got a vegetarian sope, cheese enchilada, and rajas con queso taco. The taco was my FAVORITE! So flavorful and cheesy. The enchilada was good, as mentioned above. The sope was okay. The shell was a bit hard and chewy so I ended up just really eating the toppings - it was loaded! Overall, we really enjoyed our meals! The only downfall is the service. It's SUPER slow. We finished eating and waited so long for the to-go salsa and had asked for the check at the same time. We received the salsa but 5 minutes later, I had to ask again for the check, which took another 5 mins to get. I probably have had every taco on their menu, and I have to say they are my favorite authentic tacos in the burbs. Tonight it was the rajas con queso tacos and they were the highlight of a really long day. I remember coming here once with my fam when I was a kid and rediscovering them in my late 20s. Get the green avocado sauce and put it in on everything. You will not regret it. Real nice people too. I just learned today they've been in business for 29 years. This place is a delight and definitely one of the better Mexican restaurants in the area. I went here on my lunch since I work close by. I was greeted by a waitress who asked me if I was dining in or carrying out. I dined in and she asked me to have a seat. She brought over homemade tortilla chips and fresh salsa. Both were very tasty. Food came relatively quickly. Only waited for about 7 minutes. I got a steak taco dinner as my main entree with cilantro and onion only. It was very good. I still give the edge to Los Compadres right up the street but this place is really good too. Nice fluffy refried beans and flavorful rice. I also ordered a 7up. Prices are fair, reasonable and on-par with prices at similar establishments. The waitresses were very nice! I also left my phone there by mistake and they held it for me till I got back to get it. Ordered through grubhub at 8:20. Order was 2 tortas, 4 tacos, side rice, an horchata and a soda total $40 with tip and delivery charge. Was given an eta of 8:50-9:00. Then it was pushed to 9:00-9:15. Ok I get it, sometimes things happen. Food didn't arrive until 9:45. We immediately opened the tortas and they were cold, bread wasn't toasted well, meat was lukewarm at best. Then the tacos, cold meat, grisly steak, just disappointing. Horchata: no ice at all, just watered down. They close at 10. So my guess is the order was made and then left to sit so the delivery guy or whoever could take it on his way home. $40 and an hour and a half wait for disappointing food. Giving this rating was very hard because the customer service is great and I felt like the seafood was fresh ( I had a shrimp tostada) but I wasn't too impressed with asada tacos and sopes. The meat I felt was ground and skimpy whereas a good taco has nice chucks of meat and you visually see more meat than taco shell! I really wanted Jamaica water but they didn't have any , luckily they had tamarindo and that is my back up which was yummy. Small little place in a strip mall, but alright on the inside with super friendly people working there; I wasn't intimidated at all! This place was super authentic... the chicken in my chicken tacos came right off of the bone. The tortillas were packed to the brim with chicken, onions, and tomatoes... mmmm toppings are muy bien, I say! When I asked for lime they gave me a whole lime. Nice! I like it when places don't skimp on the condiments. Well, who doesn't!? Anyway, their menu is huge... pretty much every traditional Mexican dish is on there. No no no NOOOOOOOOO, this place is a huge no. There has to be about 20 little Mexican restaurants within the strip on Algonquin Rd. We decided to give this place a try because it always looks full of people. OMG where we so wrong, the minute we walked in we noticed the place was crowded but with servers waiting for people to come and eat there. We were seated right away and you would think they would come up to us right away since there had to be at least about 7 servers just standing around. Finally someone popped up and asked if we had been served yet. Like really, all of you guys are in front of us just chatting up in spanish about non restaurant things. Nothing against that, my family is from Mexico so I get but there is a time and place for that. Going on to the food part now. Nothing to brag about, I had the Milanesa torta and my brother ordered the sopes dinner. They must be cutting down on food, because they chopped off my chicken milanesa in half and only gave me half a milanesa in such a big "bolillo" (torta bun) it was SO dry and missing so much flavor my goodness i didnt eat half. My brother was also dissapointed with the sopes dinner. Two mini sopes for $16 and a side of dried up beans and crunchy rice. He as well couldnt eat it most of it. We where asked if we wanted to have a box to take home, but we told them no thank you. They could maybe try it themselves because it doesnt taste edible enough. We were loving coming here for lunch until.... One day we came in and asked for two burritos, the server took away our menus. We sat and finished up our meals and placed an order to go. Our boss texted us as we were eating and asked for a seafood soup. We asked the server if they offered a seafood soup and she said yes. This is where we have a problem, the bill comes and we notice that the soup cost $23.. 1. We should have been told this was going to cost us $23. 2. We should have been told this was family sized soup. 3. We should have been told there is a 20 minute wait for seafood soup. We were shocked, and tried to cancel our order but the server said we couldn't do that. All of this should have been communicated to us prior to ordering. Don't assume servers here know how to do their job, ask questions before placing order. The server knew we were not happy with this transaction but did absolutely nothing to make us happy, not even an apology was offered. Figuring out what they had that was vegetarian was harder than it had to be. We were tired and very hungry (2 international flights with a long layover in between), and this place was about to close in an hour. We quickly Googled the restaurant and found what we thought was a menu for the place, and I chose the first vegetarian thing that sounded good. Husband gets there, only to be told that this location doesn't serve whatever I had originally wanted (chiles rellenos, maybe?). So screw it - what else do they have that's vegetarian? Cheese enchiladas? Get me cheese enchiladas, then, and a strawberry licuado. Sold, because I'm too tired to care. So my tired husband finally arrives back to the hotel, barely hungry because he's so exhausted, and plunks the food on the bed. We settle in with our food. My enchiladas were pretty good. My husband was so-so on whatever he got, but again...poor guy was tired. The licuado, though, was a bit odd to me. First of all, nothing like the milkshakes I'm used to - this was, well, liquidy (should have guessed by the name?). Then, it seemed like they added cinnamon or something weird to the strawberries. I ordered a large, and I got a massive licuado that I couldn't even finish with the food. It's not a terrible experience. I just wish they would upload a picture of their menu or find a way to have Google point to what's on *their* menu, not the general menu that they apparently pick and choose what they serve from. In 2017 (at the time), they should know by now that people expect an internet presence that spells out what's available there. Maybe I'm expecting too much of a taqueria? (California certainly didn't have a problem with it, even the mom-and-pop ones.) They could stand to bulk up the licuados to be a bit thicker, and the cinnamon in it is completely unnecessary (I understand it in the chocolate licuado, but not the strawberry). I just had Los Arcos deliver me 3 tacos through Uber Eats - and I've got to say, it was a great experience! Delivery could not have been more seamless. Tacos arrived warm and delicious. I got 1 Al Pastor, which was little less spicy than I would have liked, but it came with little hot salsa containers, so I spiced it up to my liking. I got 1 Cammaron, with plenty of spicy shrimp on it, this one was the definite standout. It had pico de gallo, it had spicy shrimp, plenty of bright veggies, it was awesome! And I got 1 steak taco. That one's on me, it was plain and I didn't totally love it, but I ordered a plain taco, so what was I thinking? All in all, great experience. Came out to like $13 for a delivered lunch. Ordered from here on grubhub on Friday and my boyfriend and I both had mild food poisoning to follow. Both of us got a steak burrito, he got two tacos, and we split rice and beans (these are ordered a la carte by the way so that's like an extra $5 which I think is crazy). Decided to try Los Arcos for an inexpensive Mexican dinner. It was exactly what I was looking for. Chips & salsa were very good. Had steak, chorizo, and tripe tacos. All were very good.
