Tamal oaxaqueño rojo

The tamales oaxaqueños are delicious and not too big if just trying them for the first time. They even have Tepache! Very hard to find authentic tepache. Service is quick and efficient.

Went here for lunch with a group. Fast service and great food. If you like trying out hole in the wall restaurants, this place is for you. Love the authenticity of the place.

This place is so amazingly tasty. Pure authentic food. I was so hungry wish I would've taken a pic of the huarache I devoured. The steak quesadillas are BIG. Everything is made from scratch. Highly recommend this lil hidden gem. You won't be disappointed

Love this spot for its tamales, very traditional wrapped in banana leaves. Hubs had the steak torta, free chips when you start and had the horchata. This is my new default tamale spot.

Quesadilla de al pastor

Okay so I was so excited to try this place out and was dissapointed. Don't get me wrong, there are some good things here but I think it fell short. It's authentic food and the atmosphere says it too. The tamales are okay but have a good kick to them. Carne asada is a hard one to get wrong but it was such a lack in flavor, spices. So of course the taco de carne asada lacked good flavor. If you want good tasting carne asada, you've got to go next door. The quesadilla is very good, especially al pastor. Torta de Milanesa is good even though it was chicken instead of steak (see note from picture) Plenty of other things you won't find in just any Mexican place so try some things out. The agua de horchata and mango taste homemade so a plus for that!

A Memela de Tinga de Pollo. Very good!
Victor P.

I had the Memela de tinga de pollo and it was great. If you're looking for yet another taco joint keep going. If you are looking for something a bit different then you found the place. They specialize in foods from the State of Oaxaca. You will not find tacos or burritos here. You will find Tamales Oaxaca style ( wrapped in bannana leaves insted of corn leaves), tlacoyos, Pambazos, and memelas among other things. This place is very genuine. Will not say authentic as that is an overused and loosly qualified term. If you want genuine food such as what you would find in any kitchen in Oaxaca, then this is the place to go. The Pambazo is also very good. It is a torta with chorizo and potatoes and it is douced in a redish sauce. Yum!

Quesadilla de Flor de calabaza Conzome de Borrego Tamales oxaqueños rojo y verde
Gavi P.

Very good food at very reasonable prices. Had lunch here and We ordered the conzome de borrego(lamb stew), quesadilla with squash flower and the traditional red and green oxaquenos tamales all good. I enjoyed the Agua Fresca de Nopal(fresh cactus water)Definitely will return.

My husband got the two taco sampler platter, and both his Baja and carne asada tacos were very good. Overall, we are both excited to come here again. We especially loved that we got to sit outside next to a little fire pit and my husband especially loved that he got to watch the football game. I don't regret it at all ! I'm genuinely surprised that there weren't more people considering the weather was nice and they had alfresco dining. I was greeted warmly by the hostess and my bartender Alex. The short rib empanadas and tuna tostada were fresh and amazing. The sauces were flavorful and different than what I am normally served with my empanadas. But the stars if the show were the margaritas !!! The flavors were distinct and the margaritas were refreshing. But the blood orange one was carefully crafted. You could taste the flavor on your lips after each gulp. It is definitely something I would return for. Christian introduced himself , the chef made sure I was enjoying my food , and Parking was ample as which was a plus considering the intersection is busy. Great food and vibes

Food: 4 stars Service: 2 stars…read more My husband and I made a reservation for 6:30 on a Friday night for the Patio. This restaurant is downtown Mount Prospect along the Metra tracks. They have a nice sized outdoor seating area. The inside also looked cute. We were excited to see that they had a singer. At first he sang mostly Spanish songs but then switched to various songs and genres. He was very good. I'm not sure if he's a regular performer there or not though as this was our first time. We were seated and looked over the menu. We ordered chips and salsa (great chips and salsa btw). Then we ordered Dahlia margaritas. Chips and salsa came out quickly. Then we waited and waited and waited for our drinks. I saw a guy walking around with 2 not very appealing looking margaritas. He unsuccessfully attempted to deliver them to multiple tables, then finally came to our table and said "2 traditional margaritas" and we said no, we ordered Dahlia margaritas and he goes "Oh ya these are Dahlia margaritas." I looked at the margaritas and they had no salt and just looked meh. We kind of hesitated and he was like with no salt? And we were said no, we said salt. So we sent them back. Guys, I NEVER send things back...ever. Then we waited some more and finally the correct drinks were brought to us. We ordered our food, shrimp tacos and steak tacos. Then we were just chatting and we realized it had been awhile since we ordered. It was busy so we kind of just shrugged it off. Then our server came over and apologized that it was taking so long and said it should be out soon. We waited and waited and waited. We noticed that no one else around us seemed to be having delayed service. Then some girl who looked about 18 came over and apologized for the wait and asked if she could get us anything.... I wanted to say our food, but I did not. No joke, we waited 45 minutes for our tacos. All that was offered was a "sorry for the delay". When our food came we had to ask for silverware and then also ordered another round of margaritas (also side note the Dahlia Margarita is just meh and not worth the higher price). Our margaritas took 15 minutes. We were almost done with our dinner by the time they arrived. The shrimp tacos were really good minus the crazy amount of oil that dripped out while eating them. I held them sideways to try to drain as much out as I could. My husband enjoyed his steak tacos. Over $100 for 4 margaritas and 2 taco meals. Which is the standard nowadays. I will say the only reason we will not be returning is because of the service and the fact that they didn't seem to care that the service was so poor. Otherwise this would be a new favorite place of ours.

Alright I've been eating at this place for as long as I can remember whenever I needed something…read morecheap and quick for dinner, from their original location across the street next to the Moretti's to the current one. I'm not gonna gush on the glory days of this restaurant because it would be too much but man let me tell you a few years ago before they changed owners, it was special. Anyways, the restaurant itself is very clean and good looking on the eyes. The color scheme is relatively simple but it does the job of being presentable. There's a good amount of seating around the place along with the salsa bar on the right side which is always a plus for me. Haven't had any issues with employees, they are nice people. The food? Well honestly majority of the time it's pretty good. I'm a simple guy and I always get the asada tacos with corn tortilla with cilantro and onion. It's usually tasty and juicy from my experience but there are sometimes where's its overwhelmingly dry or rubbery or it has some weird taste in it. I have tried other menu items though like the Quesabirria tacos which were actually quite good in my opnion. Nothing exactly to rave about but they were juicy, cheesy, and the birria was just so tender. The consommé that comes with it too is nice and hot for dipping. Aside from just the food, I've tried their drinks as well, in specific the horchata and Agua de Jamaica. I'd say both drinks are pretty average and nothing worth really talking about. They are serviceable in their own rights but you can honestly get better horchata or agua fresca from other places if you really need that fix Regardless, I think the tacos here are solid for what they are compared to competitors in the immediate Rosemont area. It's no mistake that Cilantro taco grill managed to outlast Guzmen Y Gomez and Taqueria Invicto. The prices are fair for the current economy but I do miss when they were cheaper. I think it is justifiable though given how good the tacos can be.

I ordered online for pickup and burrito with double rice, elote and horchata. I should have not assumed they had silverware in the bag and checked my order. I got back to my hotel and there was no double rice and no fork. I couldn't go back because they would be closed by then. The burrito was solid and full which I enjoyed. The elote was just okay could have used more of the cheese. Looks like a decent place to dine in but it had a very terrible smell when I went it. Overall it feed me but not the most satisfying job of that.
