I've FINALLY found a SoCal equivalent Mexican food joint and I could not be happier. Best tacos I've had in Colorado so far!

The tacos here are legit. I am from SoCal so I feel like I have a decent barometer. The al pastor isn't from a spit but it's still good, it comes with pineapple in it . The asada, lengua and carnitas are also solid! The guy working the counter was kind and food came out fast. Your typical Mexican restaurant vibes inside. They also have a wall with Mexican chips, sauces and candies! Let's support this Wheat Ridge gem!! read more

Came here for Taco Tuesday. I found great value, a nice lunch and exceptionally friendly and efficient service. On Tuesdays, tacos are $1.99 with a minimum order of two. Hard to beat that. The owner is super friendly and makes sure that he gets anything you want. Hands on kind of a place. Decor inside is functional with a mini Mexican mercado. Worth a visit. read more

We love taco Rico and are happy to have them in the community. The staff are always welcoming and the service is quick. Inside the restaurant there are a few tables and a small selection of Mexican snacks and candy. Sometimes the taco meat can be a little fatty, but it's a solid neighborhood spot and priced right. read more

Taco Tuesday. 4 tacos. $1.99 each. $8.24 total. SAY WHAT?! IN 2024?! A MEAL FOR LESS THAN $10. SAY IT AIN'T SO?! Taco Rico immediately climbed the ranks of my go-to Mexican restaurants. Tucked away next to Jet's Pizza in the Safeway and USPS shopping center. Talk about a hidden gem. When you walk in, the atmosphere is lively. Nice decorations, mostly booths, and loud music. You don't feel like you're in Colorado! You order at the counter, they deliver your food, then you pay at the counter when you're done. I inadvertently came here on Taco Tuesday. Did I want tacos? Yes. But didn't put two and two together. Keep in mind the taco menu is more concise on Tuesdays. I had two carnitas, one pastor and one chicken. They were out of ground beef. Got them loaded all the way with onions and cilantro. The verdict? Fantastic. Meat was tender and juicy. The hot sauces paired extremely well. The tacos themselves tasted fresh. I probably could've downed two more, especially after the gym. But for walking out the door for under $10, there is absolutely nothing to complain about. They boast a large menu with many Mexican specialties. They even serve pupusas, which are El Salvadorian. If the tacos are an indicator for the rest of the menu, I want to try everything! This place feels like a taco spot you'd walk into in Mexico with authentic street tacos! It's a small place with about 8 booths, mariachi music playing, and shelves with drinks, snacks, and pastries from Mexico. We came on taco Tuesday, when tacos are $1.99. Solid Mexican place, my enchilada plate was delicious & my wife really liked her papusas. The place has some seating but it's limited. It's interesting, all the seating is on the right hand side when you walk in. I did really like the food so I would consider coming back although it's decently pricey for the eclectic look- definitely a foodie place, not ambiance- 100% taco shop. The service was decent, it seemed some of the servers don't speak English well. There's lots of various entrees to try & it was very good. All in all I would be interested in what else is on the menu but at the same time there's a lot of Mexican places I want to try so we'll see when I come back. Happy eating! read more

$1.99 Taco Tuesday is where it's at! They have limited taco options (chicken, ground beef, chorizo, or carnitas) that count but dang who cares. All were great little street tacos, especially with their 3 sauce options they brought out. My husband and I also shared their steak nachos and they were delightful! Staff were friendly and attentive. They were blaring some random music (Michael Jackson/Queen/hispanic rap) so it was a bit loud but overall still a great experience. I moved here from Texas and have been saddened by the Mexican options in the area. I'm telling you these are some of the most amazing tacos! The employees are always super nice and accommodating and the food is 10/10! I heard from a friend about their cheap prices for soft tacos on Tuesdays. This Mexican restaurant is in the north end of a strip mall north of 38th Ave & Wadsworth. It is quite small with only 8 booths along the wall and the kitchen opposite. They have a small bar with 3 stools. Indeed, you can get chicken, ground beef, carnitas and chorizo tacos for $1.99 each. I got the chicken, carnitas and chorizo with a bottle of Jarritos Tamarind soda. They brought out 3 salsas, red, green, and something else. I tried the red & green salsas. Nice and spicy. They have a full menu of standard Mexican food. I got a bowl of Pork posole with hominy, cilantro and lettuce with 4 corn tortillas. Service was quick. Oh yes, this is the place. Taco Rico deserves all of the stars. 10/10 hands down. I was in the area around lunch, spotted this place at the very end of the plaza and walked inside. It's a small restaurant with several booths to eat in. House-made salsas are sold and ready to take home. There's a huge menu above the register and I knew I had to try the asada tacos and the pollo tacos with a side of Mexican rice. They took my order at the front and I took it to go. Everyone was very friendly and helpful. I couldn't believe how good the tacos are! I've been looking for a place here with tacos as good as the tacos in LA and I finally found it. I got 5 tacos. 1 shrimp, chicken, asada,2 al pastor. They all were delicious with onion and cilantro. Two little tortillas a taco to ensure good transport to your mouth. Meat was flavorful! Got a coke with it. With tip under $25. The tacos on the menu pics here went up to $3.25 from $2.99. Id say the quality matches up. The red and green sauces that come with it are good and good spice ratio. All in all a solid place for dine-in or take-out. Apparently can order online through grubhub. Finally found the tacos I've been looking for. I lived in Texas for 5 years and have been searching for similiar street tacos since I moved to Denver, and these are legit! I have been wanting to try this place since I noticed it. So my boyfriend and I decided to try it one night. We got it to go and it was amazing. We got the asada tacos, the meat is so flavorful and juicy, it tastes like it has been marinating for days. I also tried it in person with a friend and when you step inside it feels like you're transported to a taco shop in mexico. Service is friendly, prices are good. $2.99 is what a street taco should cost, not $5 like some of these other Denver places charge. Anyways, I will be back for sure, I want to try the fajitas and other items on the menu. I'll also likely crave these tacos at least once a month. Totally authentic vibe, making the most of a hole in the wall at a local strip mall. Super polite and cordial host and prompt service. I had not visited so this was the first meal from the place. I ordered the wet burrito carnitas with salsa verde and a horchata...OMG!!! The best tasting wet burrito I have had in years. For me the best in Wheat Ridge and a significant portion of the western burbs. I will return as the menu tempted me, tortured me nearly, with all the entrees that will have to wait. This is my new favorite Mexican food restaurant in Colorado! Just behind Xicamiti for authenticity and Teocali for deliciousness. This place has traditional street tacos like what you find in Tijuana. It serves specialty meals like menudo and meat like lengua, tripa, and al pastor (tongue, tripe, and pork seasoned with chili and pineapple), which shows how authentic they are. We got a shrimp taco, carne asada, chicken, lengua, and tripa. All were excellent but the shrimp taco was especially memorable - they use plump, fresh shrimp! Quality! Lengua was really smooth and cooked perfectly. We also got the supreme steak nachos. Holy moly, they are so darn good. Very generous with the toppings, which I appreciate! They offer a lot of sauce options, both spicy and mild. They are delightful and fun to mix and match. They also serve pupusas, which is El Savadorean... a little random and not their specialty. I got the revuelta and was unimpressed. The tres leches cake was unique - it seemed to have a hard cheese center and is firmer than most tres leches cakes I've had. Not my cup of tea. The downside is the bathroom didn't have any hand soap. Yuck. But it was surprisingly clean. Finally, this place has a full bar, popular Mexican drinks like horchata and tamarindo, and a mini market of Mexican candy, sauces, and chips. I was excited to try this place out as a potential go-to Mexican spot... unfortunately would not recommend. I got the carnitas plate and two asada tacos to go. The pictures of carnitas plate here and on google looked fantastic: juicy, melt-in-your-mouth goodness. What I got was a few chunks of completely dried out, gamey pork that could have been a day old. The best taco joints seem to always be in non-descript strip malls, this spot has that part nailed for sure! Stopped here for a quick lunch today and was super impressed by how clean and put together the restaurant was. The service was super friendly, as I was looking for a hot sauce selection the chef handed me a bottle of their homemade salsa verde, which was delicious! I had an Al Pastor torta which was really delicious, came with a side of fresh tortilla chips (delicious as well) and was definitely more food than I needed. Great little gem of a joint in Wheat Ridge. I've eaten there 3 or 4 times now and it's always solid. Tacos are all good, red & green salsas are delicious. The enchiladas are the full on bomb though, i had them for the first time today and they were delicious. Great sauce, tortilla and queso all served with the green salsa, so very good!
