I had marked this place down as somewhere I wanted to visit for a while, but never find myself in this area as it is pretty out-of-the-way for me. But as luck would have it, today, I drove right by and decided to stop in. I didn't expect a big dining room with two sides, but they had or the giant window into the kitchen that lets you see them pressing the Fresh made corn tortillas. That was a special treat. They were very patient with us as we brought our dog inside and told us as long as he doesn't fart and serve the other customers they had no problem with him being there :) We tried some of the tacos and the Horchata Agua Fresca. Everything was delicious, I originally asked for their recommendation on which tacos to get and he said you can't go wrong, so I opted for one El Pastor one Carne Asada, and one birria taco add cheese. Everything was so good, the perfect balance of flavors and very generous portion - these tacos were stuffed! They also have an awesome salsa and topping bar with tons of options and a serve yourself format with little containers and lids. At $3.50 per taco this is a super reasonable place for a bite and I'll definitely be back anytime I'm near Westminster. read more

Never been disappointed with the food or the service here it is just walk up counter. They do call your name out for your food, but you're welcome to eat in dining room and enjoy their fresh salsa bar. Enjoy some cold ones. They do have a happy hour from 12 to 5. Spontaneously came in at night on a Saturday and even though they had some internet issues and we ended up paying in cash, the workers were super friendly and communicated well. I ordered the quesadilla, flan, and both carne asada and lengua tacos. The quesadilla was cheesy and full of flavor, the flan was a delicious dessert (must try!), and the tacos were amazing (though the lengua didn't have that traditional lengua taste I'm used to). I was so hungry I didn't take a picture of my tacos!! It was close to midnight, and I'm THRILLED to have discovered that El Taco Veloz is conveniently located for me. It initially felt a litle sketchy parking in the lot out front. Even though they were cleaning up (so I also didn't photograph the interior) I was cheerfully greeted at the register. The person working turned the menu TVs back on for me. I ordered four single tacos (Asada, Pastor, Chicharrone, Lengua) which came with grilled onions. The food here tastes great. I recommend eating there over ordering to-go as the food got stale the second time I got it to-go, but that could be because I ordered more than 10 tacos that time. There's also a condiment station with six different sauces and other fillings for your tacos. The price is the same to most other hispanic restaurants that I've been at and the service is pretty average. I'm not a denver native, so i don't know the city at all. But this area didn't seem like a good area to be around, especially after dark. However, i was coming down into denver from WY from a roadtrip and wanted to get some mexican food. i ended up getting two burritos, one al pastor and the other barbacoa. Both were good, but on the smaller side. the burritos were on the greasy side, but the flavor of the meat were good. I also got two churros which were actually my favorite item. It has caramel inside and it was nice and crunchy. they have agua fresca and a lot of other items... tacos, tortas, sopes and quesadillas. They also have a nice selection of sauces and mexican style pickled veggies. As for the interior, there are a lot of seats, and a small bar in the back near the bathroom. They actually have a variety of more unique tacos like tongue, cheek, intestines but we weren't that adventurous. We got the chicken flautas taco plate and a few gorditas. Delicious! I ordered the Pastor Plate and it was sooo good. Salty, but hey, I love salt so that was not a problem for me. The homemade tortillas are so incredible. I love a good salsa bar and the one at El Taco Veloz did not disappoint. Plenty of excellent choices and tried many of them. My one complaint is that the salsa containers are much too small! There are many great taco shops this side of town (on Federal and Pecos), but only a couple of them have the options to have beers/margs with your meals. I've had the Caldo de Res (Beef Soup), various Tacos (Tripa Dorada, Buche, Cabeza, Carne Asada, Al Pastor...etc), taquitos, and quesadillas. My must get is typically Tripa Dorada (crispy tripe/intestines) and Carne Asada Tacos. Probably one the few places that has the self serve salsa/toppings bar as well. Thankfully, my fellow Yelpsters pulled through with a solid late night eats recommendation, as we were waiting out a storm on Mt Evans far later than planned & we came down HUNGRY. We were prepared for a line, the order process & salsa bar, again, thanks to the Yelposphere. We walked in shortly after 10pm to about a dozen people in line & the sound of Spanglish being spoken. My husband looked panicked briefly & said he was overwhelmed, before asking me to order for him - ha. We went in planning to get taco plates, but I changed it up since we were famished. Great find for some late night tacos. Maybe because I'm a Cali native the tacos here were sub par. Read the previous reviews and I do agree with the Al pastor, asada, and Buche meats which were all flavorful. The first order of buche was excellent very crispy and tender my first time having it so I was excited to get another but the second was a lot more chewy not sure which it's suppose to be, inconsistent. My husband ordered the asada burrito was on the smaller size, felt like a bean and cheese burrito with a small amount of asada. He had to order another 3 tacos to make up for the size. A little pricey for the amount of taco meat you get. Overall great service, nice people. Quiet ambiance since it was 2am but there was nice Mexican music playing in the background. Was pretty good! They have a salsa bar with like 10 salsas, which was pretty cool. They're open really late, and that's why I was there because not much else was open. My chicken tacos were pretty good but my husbands bean burrito wasn't The beans tasted like old grease or something I can't quite remember. I've had a chile relleno on a different occasion and I remember it being really good! So I guess it's kind of hit or miss here. It wasn't as clean as you'd hope for. I think it's weird if you go in a restaurant and it smells like cleaner and the grout on the floor is nasty. The Yelp feature on here that says "many vegetarian options" is inaccurate. They don't have any vegetarian options. I read other reviews before coming here and the beans are not vegetarian as they are cooked with bacon. I had to request a modification to the quesadilla to only include veggies and no meat. The gentleman at the counter told me they normally don't made modifications and won't be able to accommodate me again in the future (ouch). Aside from that, the food was so flavorful, reasonably priced, and delicious. You place your order at the counter and they bring the food out to your table. They have a whole selection of salsas for you to choose from too. The horchata was also some of the best that I've had! If you have any dietary resections you should probably skip this restaurant. My girlfriend and I have been ordering from El Taco Veloz on the regular, and let's just say, they've got our taco cravings on lock. Now, let's dive into the Gorditas, these are on a whole new level. Imagine biting into a crispy exterior only to be met with an explosion of gooey, melted cheese inside. Yup, it's as heavenly as it sounds. These Gorditas aren't just good; they're unreal. I am lactose intolerant and I still eat them. Oh, and a quick shoutout to their burritos. My girlfriend can't get enough of them. They're loaded, flavorful, and just the right kind of messy.
