The food definitely didn't taste like fast food, which was a good thing. I had the street tacos and my wife had the steak burrito. The food had a real Mexican vibe--nothing "wow," but still good and satisfying. I personally felt the meat could've been better, but my wife had no complaints with her burrito. The biggest downside was the wait time. It was late at night around midnight, not busy at all, and we were the only car in the drive-thru. Even with about 5-6 employees working, it took almost 25 minutes from placing the order to getting our food. On the positive side, everything looked clean, and despite the long wait, I still enjoyed the food overall. With faster service, this place could easily be much better. read more

We like the food...but EVERYTIME we order online, it is literally 1-1.5 hours until it is ready. I mean....just go through the drive through. Dont even bother with online ordering. It will say ready at 6:00 but you will wait until 6:45-7:30. The staff does NOTHING about it. You just wait there watching the drive through go through. In fact, it would be faster to get there, cancel the order and get in the drive through line. You will also wait there...and you might think...I should have ordered online. But you would be wrong. The only path is patience and drive through I think. It's really frustrating but the food. I will say, is not bad. read more

SO GOOD! The crispy tacos are clearly freshly fried and so delicious but are entirely way too small for the price. So many places use the pre-made corn tortillas shells that are similar to taco bells, and are just so unauthentic! If they can just make their crispy tacos a little bigger would be AMAZING! Love how the cook lineups use gloves and are in a sanitary kitchen which you can see. In the meantime I will continue to enjoy their soft flour taco options and amazing HOT HOT salsa. read more

I have ordered from them 4 times and all 4 times it has been incorrect. I am such an idiot to think something will change at this place. Do not waste your time effort money or frustration on this poorly managed location. Run away! read more

Always enjoy Palenque. The prices haven't gotten rough but still worth it. Love the Pirate but think the casero is a better value . Wish I had one closer to me!! Chips and salsa bar really nice. read more

It was bound to happen. One of the many hundreds of Mexican restaurants in Texas has gone corporate, Taco Palenque. I have mixed feelings because without establishments like grimaldi's, a single location mom and pop business that went corporate, I'd have to travel to the northeast to eat real pizza. But with grimaldi's, the independently owned mom and pop restaurants have such a loyal following that grimaldi's is not a threat, and grimaldi's is targeting locations that don't have great pizza. Hopefully the same is true for Taco Palenque, but they seem to only be targeting locations that already have texmex. Perhaps they should bring this style of food to places where it's more rare? Stopped here for a breakfast taco (definitely no taquitos here, see the name). They gave the the "brown" hot sauce and Pico de Gallo. This is the first place in Corpus to give Pico by default. They also had red and green hot sauces. The tortilla was thin and rubbery, by far, the thinnest and rubberiest tortilla I've had. The bifold tortilla was slightly smaller than average, but was overflowing with eggs and beans. This was one of the only greasy tacos I've had in Corpus. The eggs were not scrambled per say, but fried and Chopped up and mixed with the beans, like Hiho, but way more. It was hard to eat in the car and I wish they used a larger tortilla. The hot sauce had just a hint of spice, but was tasty. Unfortunately, it was no match for the huge amount of filling, and was overshadowed. If you're in Corpus Christi, I have no idea why you'd eat at Taco Palenque when there are at least 100 locally owned options, unless you want rubbery tortillas. read more

Drive through paid at 7:04 for two tacos at $10+ and told to pull around and will be brought out. 7:30 I'm standing in line asking about order and told need receipt so go back to car and stand back in line to ask for a refund and no tacos. Evening shift on Sunday Isn't on their game. Tacofeedback@palenquegroup.com Might give more stars if was able to try food, guess it gets thrown in trash now. read more

I have loved the Taco Palenque chain ever since I stumbled across it traveling throughout the Valley almost 10 years ago. I am so happy happy they opened a location in Corpus. Better beef fajitas than most taquerias here! read more

The bean and cheese tacos are bean and cheese heaven. I love all things bean and cheese and this is what I've been searching for my whole life. It comes in 2 tortillas (a la street tacos) and is filled with melty bean and cheese goodness. My personal kink- I take off the outer tortilla, you know, because of my low carb lifestyle hahaha. I've realized I'm going to have to fly back here to Corpus Christi once in a while just for these beany-cheesy delights. (I'm a travel nurse here till June 2022). And guess what? They're totally worth it. read more

Love this place!! Always supply me with my sauces and they are fast! They are always very attentive and great service.

Sorry didn't take a pic of the food. I had pirate taco, enchilada plater and chicken taco. Clean restaurant , music was nice not too loud service was very nice and professional. I would definitely recommend Taco Palenque to family and friends. Beef Fajitas was great! read more

I ordered through Uber Eats four steak tacos beans and refried beans. They sent me a bowl of bean juice with three beans in it and one jalapeño and the rest was juice my taco. We're missing the onion and cilantro and lime. The side of refried beans is enough for one chip for $.75. I would've paid more for a proper amount then I called in and the people who worked there don't really care. This is a disgrace to Mexican food. Response to owner responce. I sent you a email with my phone number for you to contact me read more

First time to TP so I can't speak to "how it was when they opened compared to now" as some other reviewers have done. WAS going to get BBQ but the place I wanted to go to was swamped and I'm not that patient. Did the drive-thru line. The first sign that's supposed to give you some ideas while you wait to get to the speaker rotates a bit too fast IMO. Once I got to the ordering sign/speaker, it was fine. I placed my order for something I'd be familiar with since I'm a newb for this business. Two chicken fajita plates. Just under $27 bucks. We've been using another TexMex joint recently, so I know that $25-$27 is around what you should expect to pay nowadays. Thanks economy!! The wait was a little on the long side, but not terrible. Fortunately there were only a couple of cars ahead of me. I get home with the paper bag with handles...nice packaging all around...and pull out some smallish Styrofoam plates and the rest of the sides/condiments. Plenty of red and green sause, tortillas packaged separately for each plate and plenty of napkins as fajitas and tortillas are finger food. Keep "small" in mind. The chicken had really good flavor. Not dry, not greasy and not heavily spiced. But cut into rather small pieces. The beans and rice were packaged in plastic snap-cap containers to prevent spilling...that's fine...but they were kinda small. The tortillas stuck to one another as they cooled, cuz lard hardens pretty quickly. The beans were on the runny side, but had good flavor. Kinda purree'd. Rice wasn't dry. The guac was homemade which is always preferred. Nice fresh guac. Overall, we enjoyed the food but for the price thought there should be more of it. I had that impression when I removed the 'smallish' plates from the bag and ended with that impression when I finished my meal a lot faster than I usually do a plate of chicken or beef fajitas. I have a hard time justifying the cost when there are so many good choices in Corpus Christi. Enjoyable, but over-priced for the portion sizes. read more

I don't see myself ever going back to this place and honestly question its place here in Corpus. There are so many locally owned, authentic, Mexican restaurants here that serve better food that Taco Palenque just makes little to no sense. And if I wanted to spend big bucks on tacos, I'd rather drive a couple hundred feet over to Southside Tacos - at least their food is actually good. I ate the saddest beef quesadilla, most mediocre taco, and drank the blandest horchata ever from this place. It's an anywhere but here for Mexican food and tacos for me. Avoid! read more

I ordered a bean and cheese taco and a carne guisada taco. 2 tacos and a drink came to over $16 absolutely ridiculous. The tortillas are so thin and hard. Worst bean and chess ever. They wrap them so tight in the foil that you can not open or eat while driving. They are so messy because the tortillas are thin and hard. The food just falls out. I'll never ever eat there again. read more

We thought this place looked good. The menu board is difficult to read prices. The prices are ridiculously high for the serving size. There were 3 in our party. We ordered separately on the same table number. The first two of us got our food pretty quickly, the third order took over 20 minutes to get her food. The person delivering the first two meals spoke to us in Spanish-maybe-but with a mask over his face and the background noise, we could neither hear him nor understand what he was saying. The food finally arrived per the manager and he explained that they'd run out of meat. No compensation. I just put up one more star because the you g man in the dining room came over and explained he'd only been in the US for a year and a half and spoke very little English. He was trying though, for that I'll give him credit. But the manager should have come and explained the issue. read more

They're both 24 hours, they both share the same menu, but these two locations are very different. Trust me. Make the trip to La Palmera. I've given the location too many chances at this point. Today my pirata came with one single small piece of fajita in it and everything was so cold that the cheese on the inside didn't even melt. This place sucks. Please save your money. read more

Taco Palenque - Mexican Near Me - Corpus Christi, Texas

I did drive thru here and it took REALLYYY LONG. Turned off the car twice - one when taking order and one while waiting for the food. The gave us the horchata first and half of it was just a lot of big ice cubes. I finished half of the drink while waiting for the rest of the food. Overall the actual food was SUPER YUMMY but what turned to be a quick less than 10 minute drive thru errand took 30 mins :'( Didn't even get to take pics of the food I ordered cos I was too hungry from waiting LOL I'd still come again tho but probably do dine in instead :-) read more

Beyond disappointed in taco palenque. The service is really good. It's a clean place. Salsa bar is great. The disappointment is on the scanty amount of food they serve. $16.00 plate and it's not good value. Getting too expensive to eat their rice n beans. The guacamole is so fresh, beef fajitas taste is outstanding... Their refried beans are great. Will have to consider going back. Overpriced mexican food! read more

Food was great! Service was okay. Order was drive thru but I can understand the wait as I ordered quite a few items.

So we decided to visit the new taco place in town.... Won't be back Not familiar with the menu and being really hungry not a good combo To be fair, the food is ok. It's fast food but decent The girl at the window very nice. But the prices are outlandishly expensive. CRAZY!! The Al Pastor plate is $14 and a quesadilla is 5 bucks. A small, folded over tortilla with not much in it. Won't be back read more

Excellent food. Menu is extensive and seasonal to a particularly high standard. Definitely fine dining. It can be expensive but worth it and they do different deals on different nights so it's worth checking them out before you order. They have an app too. Corpus Christi is fortunate to welcome this quintessential establishment. I highly recommended Taco Palenque for your anytime meal. read more

Slow slow slow in the drive through, and then treated like crap. I felt like i was bother to this people. This is no doubt a reflection of the manager and the work culture. I'm thinking from what I saw a dangerous environment that will lead to someone melting down. When I finally got my overpriced panchos (nachos) it was so bland but at 8:00pm in night I just wanted a snack to enjoy except no fork or napkins in my to go order: really!! Again this is management either at this location or maybe it's more I don't know nor will I every know because this is my second trip and the food is bad. so I thought the food would be great but unfortunately, portions are very skimpy for the price. You will get better customer service and portions at a Taqueria. I walked in and had to wait close to 10 min to even be acknowledged and that's because they were not busy at all. Young lady with poofy hair was very rude and rolled her eyes when she finally decided to help us. I didn't feel very welcome here at all. if you are looking for good customer service, this is not the place. the restroom is disgusting also. I just don't understand how there is so many employees but nothing seems to be getting done. they probably need better management read more

If folks actually value these reviews please take note. This location has the worst service, which stinks because the locations in San Antonio are fine. Please don't go they the drive thru lane, I've been three times with a 45 minute wait each time. I would have gotten out of line to leave but your trapped. I've even gone in and not much better, I can't understand how you can a drive thru with only a few cars can take 45 minutes. On a bright note, the Super Fideo is excellent when you can get it and their other food is good too but the diet time makes it not worth the visit. Good luck if you try this location. read more

This is insanely expensive for portion sizes. This place will not make it long in south Texas with these prices.

They used to be really good when they first opened and were super busy but now even late at night when nobody is there the food is always rushed and not good. Majority of the time all of the tacos are soggy and covered In grease that leaks thru the whole bag. Don't get me wrong the flavor of the food is good but the presentation and quality isn't worth it. read more
