I usually come here and pick up my order to go. They are usually pretty quick and the food is nice and fresh. The portions are pretty good size for the price and the staff is nice. Salsas are good. In my opinion, the beans can be a little bland, but that can be easily fixed. This place is always my go to in the mornings.

I saw a long line this morning at the drive through window so I figured it must be good if so many people were willing to wait. I went inside to pickup up two breakfast tacos. Paid $5 for two huge tacos. Service was fast and friendly. Tortillas were soft and fresh and they were filled to the max. Both the green and the red salas were delicious. Inside has the decor and feel of eating at your Mexican grandmas house. Prices are lower than some of the other Mexican restaurants around town. Glad I stopped in, I can't wait to try more dishes. Edit: Menudo is good but my large to go to go was mostly broth. Maybe you get more inside.

Incredible and authentic Mexican food. When you enter and most don't speak English you know it's going to be authentic. The portions were huge. The flour tortillas are huge and home made. I got a breakfast taco "plate" that was beyond filling for currently $7. Incredible and highly recommend to visit.

We have a new kid in town, and its name is Mi Casita. Formerly San Jose, this place carries forward the top-notch taqueria precedence of its predecessor. They just opened, so time will tell how they fare, but so far so good, IMO. Right across from my favorite gym, I will be coming back for sure. Looking forward to trying some good taqueria brunch here!

I had the jaeger schnitzel with the German potato salad and the red cabbage, and it was fantastic. It's just good old-fashioned nicely done German food. Lovely baked goods too. We thought we would visit for dinner at about 6 pm . Place was totally empty when we arrived; a very wait person say us and very nicely waited on us throughout. I had the two bratwurst with red cabbage and German potatoe salad . Now usually to me , bratwurst should be full juicy sausages of a considerable size . What I got was a little better than two hot dogs that were cut in two length wise. The potato salad was somewhat greasy and not too remarkable at all. The red cabbage was only passable. The whole thing seemed like it was warmed up from lunch , in that it came out surprisingly quickly and was tepid rather than hot. Microwaved maybe even. My partner had pork schnitzel, spaetzal and sauerkraut. The snitzel seemed ok though tepid . The serving size though was somewhat smaller than what their online pic showed but my wife said that she didn't need anything bigger . My wife said the spaetzal was good though I tasted it and thought it seemed warmed up. The oddest thing is that the sauerkraut was mixed up with mashed potatoes. The texture was weird and it was missing the tanginess of sauerkraut and , again, tasted warmed up. Is this a way to "stretch" sauerkraut of all things? The problem is they just started dinner service I guess in the last two weeks according to our server . On top of all this it was exorbitantly priced . Whereas I might visit during breakfast, I may not fit dinner for a while to where they can build a better experience. The waitress was very nice and accommodating.

They did have to sit us in the back. We order the Fried Banana French Toast with Pecans, a Strawberry Margarita, two ginger Ales, and orange juice. We had turkey bacon, potatoes, scrambled eggs, and fruit on the side. Listen! The food was good. If you order the breakfast combo, we recommend you sub in the Banana French Toast. It's so good. We highly recommend. The scramble eggs were too soft for me so I took off a star. Over all the food was great. We will return for dinner. The eatery was clean. Alison was our server. She was good. Came on a Sunday with my toddler, and it was very busy so I expected a bit of a wait on things. I have been here before for Sunday brunch with a large group and had a good experience, but today was not great. Got seated after only about 15 mins - totally reasonable. After that, multiple things went wrong. 1- I was initially given a high chair with a broken buckle, so I didn't fasten the straps and my toddler slipped down through the opening. She was ok, thankfully, and we got another one with working buckle. 2 - lots of flies. I felt like I was fighting them for my food. At one point I counted 5 at a time. 3 - I wasn't given utensils when I was seated or at the same time as my food. My food was served, then I had to wait for the waitress, then wait for the utensils. 5 mins of calming the hungry screaming toddler and watching our food cool down was not very cool. Same thing happened to the table next to me. 4 - they ran out of cups, and my coffee was served in a styrofoam cup with a plastic spoon. It tasted like plastic and I didn't enjoy it. When I saw that I was charged $4 for it, I asked the waitress to strike it from my bill, which she did. Individually these things were not a big deal, but overall it was just not great. I believe the waitress was just overwhelmed and doing her best.

I stopped in for brunch on a Saturday morning and was really surprised by the crowds, and the atmosphere of the restaurant. It reminded a lot of B Matthew's in Savannah, which if you know, is a good thing! I initially went for the croissants based on the recommendation, but ordered the Biscuits with Gravy in addition to a loaf of sourdough, a croissant, and a few back to school theme cookies to bring onto the kids! The biscuits and gravy was phenomenal, and I really liked how they added scrambled eggs to top them. This is something I've never seen before and the result was great! As far as the bakery items (croissant, sourdough, and cookies) I feel like my review won't do them justice because they weren't eaten until I got home a few days later. Bottom line, I will be stopping in at Hester's every time I visit Corpus going forward. A definitely must try!

If you go through my reviews you will see I am a tough yet fair and honest reviewer that travels…read moreeverywhere. I honestly can not say enough wonderful things about this place. This place is what you dream of when you are on the road traveling and need a great meal, fast, for a great price, served by friendly attentive people. I have been in town working for a couple of months and I am here at least twice a week. My advice is to get a combo. I usually get the Texas Plate or Leon's Plate (Both $9). The flour tortillas are house made and very soft and fluffy. I ordered corn tortillas with my lengua tacos one time and they asked, "Do you want store bought or home made?" Is that a real question? Salsa is goofy in the Styrofoam cup, but here's a tip... you can ask for green sauce or a hotter red sauce they are both better than what you initially get. Service is Jimmy Johns fast. Don't plan on having a conversation while you wait for your food. I ordered and within 3 minutes my food came out piping hot. Fantastic flavors and extremely filling. You wont leave hungry. My only nitpick gripe would be the tamales are really good but you can only get them on Leon's Plate. I would love a combo with 1 tamale and 2 tacos of your choice with rice and beans. Best part is the price. I got the Leon's plate and a large Margarita and my tab was $13.52 + tip. Hell yeah...

Visit 3: got breakfast thru the drive thru, chilaquiles with egg mixed in, no salsa ranchera They made the corn tortilla chips very soggy and there were ONIONS which I do not like and which was not disclosed, only ate a quarter or the top layer of the plate. Visit 4: was sick with vomiting so got tortilla soup. Chicken was cooked but not tenderized. I liked the one from Cancun's better. Visit 5: brought hubby here. He commented that carne guisada was overcooked, I tasted and agreed. I put this place to the true test by ordering menudo... and they failed. Menudo tasted like they didn't wash tripas after parboiling them. Each bite was initially good follow up by an uncomfortable, dirty aftertaste. My verdict: not bad, just mid. Maybe some issues with quality control. I'll be back to try the seafood though.
