Hi-Ho in Corpus Christi stole my heart. From the moment I walked in, I was reminded of the kinds of places I loved growing up--full of warmth, comfort, and community. I met some lovely regulars and completely understand why they keep coming back. The oatmeal was unforgettable--truly the best I've ever had with fresh canela, so creamy! I ordered the cheese enchiladas to go for a friend! Portions are big, the coffee is amazing so deep and delicious - the whole experience left me glowing! Can't wait to return. Please support this incredible local treasure! I include Corpus Christi waterfront vibe videos too so you can take in the whole town, beautiful waterfront and pink moons! You can grab your HiHo goodies and head to the Bay in minutes or stay and enjoy the fantastic company and dishes. Thank you

Bean and cheese taco 10/10! The tortillas are handmade, and you can taste the butter! The beans are not from a can, and don't get me started on the cheese ! It melts right when it enters the your mouth! My wife play was pretty big so much flavor packed into her plate! Service was amazing and very attentive!

If there ever were an institution that represents Corpus, it is Hi-Ho. What many don't know is that I have lived here previously (09' - 12') before relocating to the "big city". The first time I was here, everyone told me this was "the place" to go if you wanted to experience classic Corpus culture at its finest. Unfortunately, during that time around, I only came here once with a large group of work friends. Fast forward and I have now been living here again for going on six (6) years; fully assimilated to Corpus' vibrant "South Texas" culture. And with that, I can unequivocally say that the recommendations previously given to me with reason were well-grounded. Hi-Ho is one of those places you must visit to understand. I would not call it a taqueria (although one could argue it fits that bill); rather, I would call it "South Tex-Mex". If you lived here and noticed the blend between Tex-Mex and taqueria fare, that would make perfect sense. The food is good and reasonably priced. The service is great, IMO. But what really makes this place special is its atmosphere - let me elaborate. As you come in for weekend breakfast/brunch/lunch, you'll immediately notice it is packed with locals. And not just from the neighborhood, but from all over the city. It's full of mostly South Texas multi-generational families taking pride in patronage of their city's best kept (not so) secret. There is an air of community that is not that hard to "feel" when you are here. Also, its design and layout are comforting. Certainly not much has changed here for a very long time. Take special note of the lacquered table art and murals, and you'll see where they have memorialized decades of South Texas heritage. It is quite special. Lastly, I'll add that parking can be a bit tricky when they are busy. I do not say this as a deterrent; rather, as a precaution. There is plenty of parking on the street around the place if the parking lot happens to be full. If you are visiting here and want to experience something uniquely representative of the city, I highly recommend going out of your way to experience Hi-Ho. If you live here and want a refresher of what Corpus culture is grounded in, I also highly recommend giving this place a shot.

We came in from Dallas looked up on TikTok a good restaurant place in Town. And man this place is amazing! Great food! Service was amazing and the ambience feels like being at your grandparents house!!!

Delicious, down to earth, dining every single time! This is our fifth visit and we have loved it each time. It's an absolute down home delicious kind of place and a truly memorable experience if you're a Selena fan. The quick backstory to the Selena/Hi Ho connection is that Selena and her family often visited this restaurant during her lifetime. Her father is still seen often dining here and known to stop and take photos with fans. Posters and pictures of the beloved local adorn almost every inch of the walls. You can't help but feel the love for Selena and her family here. And once you have a chance to eat, you realize why she loved this place. Everything is classically prepared and presented. Nothing fancy. Nothing random or misplaced. It's all Texas/Mexican and all delicious! I went with the Fajita Lunch Plate for $9. It came with Rice, Charro Beans, Mashed Potatoes, and a hearty portion of the most flavorful flame broiled Beef Fajitas I've had in a while. I gotta say, their fresh tortillas were also phenomenal. Our table destroyed these pretty quickly. My wife loved her Machacado Plate as well. Solid breakfast choice for $6 and added bacon for $2. Her plate was huge! Don't sleep on the breakfast potatoes. Might not be want you'd expect but so good. My favorite thing here though is the people! The servers, patrons, everyone. You're in the middle of Corpus here and you feel it. If you come with good energy and have the decency to chat with strangers, you'll find yourself loving this experience. It's what Selena loved to do and what we've grown to love ourselves.

The beef enchiladas were very good. It was very meaty. There were a lot of pics of Selena on the wall to see.

As a vegan, that made me excited because actual Mexican food usually has less cheese and can be made vegan. The business is quaint. There was a friendly hostess to welcome us in and our server was very hospitable. We ordered the chile relleno without cheese, zucchini in pasilla pepper sauce, and mole verde off the vegetarian options on the menu. We also enjoyed guacamole and chips. Our server was happy to accommodate our vegan modifications and it was really easy to communicate with him. The flavors are just WOW! Hands down the best guacamole of my life. The sauces are vibrant and rich. Everything tasted so fresh. And the prices for this quality of food cannot be beat. My husband and I literally licked sauce off the plates to make sure we did not miss one ounce of that authentic Mexican flavor. This place is top of our list of businesses to visit next time we are in town visiting family. We had an incredible experience and cannot wait to continue to explore the vegetarian menu options.

I'm not a professional food critic, but I do know seasoning, regional Mexican flavors, and what well‑prepared food should taste like -- and this just wasn't it for us. The restaurant didn't feel well-kept, and it appeared that only one server and one cook were working, plus we and another couple were the only ones there. We were served chips and salsa to start. The salsa, a taquera‑style orange sauce, was actually the best part of the meal. The chips, however, were extremely hard, not fresh, and definitely not warm. They looked house‑made, but whatever they were fried in made them almost inedible. I ordered the ribeye street tacos, and the steak was overcooked, had an odd taste, and wasn't enjoyable. I asked for extra cilantro and onions, which didn't happen, and the chimichurri they brought out was basically oil with a few seasonings floating in it. I almost complimented the Dr Pepper because it had a unique sweetness -- until I realized why. The red glass had visible staining on the inside. When I wiped the rim with my napkin, it came off dirty. They also don't offer straws, so whatever residue was in that glass is what you end up drinking. Between the food quality, the cleanliness concerns, and the overall condition of the restaurant, this was a no for us. How this place has earned such high mentions is honestly beyond me.

The most authentic flavor item in my lunch was the refried beans that look like poop at first sight. Rice was bland with cumin flavor and the mole was the most disappointing. Might as well have called them regular enchiladas, the flavor was basic taco mix with a tiny taste of mole. Just a thick cumin or comino paste. Enchiladas should be dripping with sauce in the inside. These were dry tortillas that were barely garnished with sauce on top. The chicken inside was very flavorul but dry. Then the 16 oz lemonade was 4$ and it was super sour ! I never leave reviews. The bacon wrapped jalapeños were perfectly made and zero fire which I appreciate. The nachos were huge half corn tortillas with refried black beans and cheese when I added the chicken I didn't realize it would add 14 dollars to my nachos!! lol I honestly thought it made the nachos 14 dollars. Naturally, I had to check it out--and let me tell you, this place absolutely lives up to the hype. I ordered the fish and shrimp dinner, and every bite was incredible.
