Some friends wanted to come here after the local powwow to eat and since we don't have a Taco Mac in Jacksonville I wanted to check it out. The place being in downtown Chattanooga meant you had to find parking, either on the street or in a lot. We ended up going to a lot for $6 I believe. The place was like your standard bar/restaurant and it just so happened that we got there just as there was a Univ. of KY vs N. Carolina March Madness game. Holy Crap. That place was filled with NC fans, mostly around the bar but they were obnoxiously loud watching the game. So much so that we couldn't hear each other though we were sitting right next to each other. The menu reminded me of a Fridays or Chili's menu. I didn't order anything fancy, just the Korean Black Garlic Salmon with Roasted Parmesan Zucchini and sweet slaw. Ok, that does sound fancy but it really wasn't. The winner of my meal was my drink, the Cucumber Limeade: Cucumber Vodka, Citrus Sour, & and Lime. That vodka is the truth. Update: I hate this place! I waited 15 minutes before I had to ask the hostess to please get me some water since my server was ignoring my table. My girls and I went here for lunch, and what should have been a 45 minute experience took almost 2 hours. I had salad and they had wings. There was nothing complicated about our orders. This place is just awful! So I ordered the tater tots with grilled chicken. It came out with fried chicken so I sent it back. They picked off the fried chicken and put chopped grilled chicken on. ***anyone with a wheat allergy like me will understand why this is a problem. I ended up eating it until I came across the breading that had fallen in between. Too late. I had my allergic reaction about 15 minutes after I left and was sick for 2 days. This is really frustrating and the restaurant needs to understand that if the food is going back because the server got the order wrong - REMAKE THE FOOD. We were sat right away by the kitchen manager. He was very friendly and told us about specials for new guests. Our waiter was great, even though we were there at a time split between shifts he made sure we weren't missed during clock out/ins with check switches. Our food came out perfectly and the roasted wings are simply the best. We got a variety of sides and appetizers between the table and the only thing that we didn't love was the fried pickles- they were just too salty. Otherwise everything was fantastic. I would say it was the worst service, but you have to receive service first. We were told they were short staffed, but we could be seated right away. In our 45 min wait, we attempted to go to the bar for even just water - nope. She would not serve us. Someone would be with shortly, because she went and talked to the man who seated us. We watched other customers be seated, attended to by a server, others even got food and drinks. What a great experience for our first time - NOT. Been here several other times so decided to drop in again and bring someone new to it. It was around 4pm on a Saturday, not a peak time even with March Madness in process. No major games playing as Kentucky was coming up. Very surprised to walk in and get a 30 minute wait time. Only a couple others waiting, but 25 to 35 tables empty. However, none cleared. I have never been in any restaurant that was this trashed with nothing cleaned. Most places would clear some of the debris while you sat if your watching a game. Thus was unreal. Inside and out, every table piled high with plates, trash, and beer glasses. We ended up finding a place at the bar where we continued to wait to get served. Not all the poor bartenders fault. They clearly did not have enough help. One bartender for bar and making drinks for rest of bar. It was all we could do to get a beer. Was going to eat but left vs the wait. Only reason to give two stars vs one, is because I know they are better than this. read more

Well.... This is a great bar and I am sure if this wasn't a Monday there would be more people here. I was pointed to this place by the valet at the Westin where I have a wonderful suite of rooms. I'm thinking they measure the wings in penis inches not "real" inches. Small but tasty they did the job but left me wanting more. Taco Tuesday! I went here for the tacos and they did not disappoint. Their Tuesday special is $3 tacos which isn't much of a bargain but they're delish. My favorites were the Baja shrimp tacos and beer-battered fish tacos. We also ordered the loaded nachos (which were loaded AF) and some wings. Their wings are small but flavorful. The "death sauce" has a kick and the "slow burner" ghost pepper sauce is super hot but tasty. They have a nice selection of craft beers. I didn't get to try any because I was there with my workout buddy who's against beer. So, I just got 4 vodka tonics instead, which were good and pungent. Service was decent. 4/5 read more

Dark, gloomy, loud, echos, mediocre food, large numbers of TV's, but most tuned in to the same game, servers lack enthusiasm, no suggestiosns for the menu, and had to ask for a refill each time. Clean establishment, and a wall full of beer taps, although I don't drink. Currently, watching a server going from one table to another, trying to find out where to deliver the food order. I had the steal street tacos, and they were about the same as anywhere else. I've had real street tacos before in Mexico, and not one place even come close to the flavors of real street tacos. Server did asked if I wanted desert when she brought my ticket, but didn't mention any of the choices. This is more of a beer and TV place than anything. This is my favorite restaurant /bar in Chattanooga. I have been coming here for about ten years. I had a blind date here at that time. That's how I found it. There have mostly been some nice bar tenders and staff here. All the bad ones have left or been fired and that includes the managers. Everybody that works here now is customer service friendly. The food is beer food. I like coming here for the different beers. As far as beer to recommend, anything that starts with an S. In other words, Samuel Adams to Sweetwater. Good food, sports bar atmosphere. The spinach artichoke dip came with not only chips but also slices of pita bread. The breading on the fish sandwich was light and crispy but a little bit oily. The tater tots were also slightly greasy but seasoned well. There was a wide selection of beers on tap at the bar along with a good selection of cocktails. Well. I would like to say that the the food was great, but honestly, I have no clue. We stopped in to see if there was seating available and got some very snarky answer from both the hostess and a gentleman who looked to be a Mananger. I understand it was a Saturday, and they are a popular spot to watch football, but we were here on vacation and just wanted to find a place with a good beer selection while we were in town to possibly catch the end of a game. We went down to find a different place to grab a drink and snacks, but still wanted to give Taco Mac a try to step down for some real food. We called the number to ask the wait, just to see how it was before we walked the 2 blocks back. WELL, the hostess who answered the phone clearly lives by her rude demeanor as that was STILL the attitude that greeted us on the phone, and she continued to take that demeanor on to new levels. I feel bad for her coworkers her boyfriend, and god forbid is she has a husband what he has to deal with. I had the grilled salmon with macaroni and Brussel sprouts. It was good, but it was originally supposed to come with rice. After waiting 30 minutes, they had told me they were out of rice mid order, but at least the macaroni was good. It took a long time to get our food with few people in the restaurant. Reviews were fairly low but there weren't many places open on a Sunday evening downtown. We figured it would be better than the Chili's across the street. Not very busy but after being seated it took over 10 minutes before the server came over. We placed a drink order and food order at the same time as we knew what the service was going to be like. Server was pleasant he inputted the order wrong and when the food came out (before the app's) they took it back left one under the warmer and remade the other to the correct sandwich, then they obviously re-dropped the tater tots which made them beyond well done and inedible. Go in with low expectations and you be fine, food was good, they are just unorganized. Upon leaving we went down the side of the building and you can see into the other side of the restaurant, there were 3 employees sitting at a table and 2 others huddled by. I do want to start this out with how great the service was from Carly- or Curley? She was really great. Now onto the food- This place is basically like a BBW- at least, thats the vibe we got Lots of tvs for Sports, and lots of alcohol, so for a football game, I could see where this place would get hype- but for just a lunch, on a non-football game day-- meh, I'll pass. The cheese dip was a little too thick? gritty? for my taste. The flavor was decent, and i liked that they gave you flour tortillas with it, as well as chips, but the consistency was just, off. Ordered a buffalo burger- Beef patty. Blue cheese (very sparse) some chopped up romaine, and buffalo sauce. It was alright... but the "mexican corn"- Nope. not even a little bit. huge miss. We were visiting Chattanooga from Nashville on a Sunday afternoon and Taco Mac was a really good place to watch a football game. First of all our server, Spencer was really cool and took care of us for a good 4 or 5 hours. The food was really good. I had the Chicken Tinga Nachos. So good. Glad we had them. If you are looking for a lace to watch sports this is the place to come, but be prepared to wait and do not expect a 5-star meal. I think they bit off more than they could chew when they expanded many years ago. It never seems like they have enough staff to handle big sport days/nights. Drink wise they have a large selection of beer, but most of it is overpriced compared to other places in town (especially for a sports bar). Food wise, tacos and quesadilla are good, along with fries and ranch. They really do have some of the best ranch in town! Overall if you want to watch a game or are with a group that wants to watch various games at the same time this is a good place to come, but bring your patience and expect to pay more than usual at a sports bar. read more

Arggh. This one is tough because I just left working there. Don't want to be prejudiced here. In any direction. But here's the previous customer/recent insider perspective. Before I worked there, I really liked TMac (yes, what it is called now) but I had to take down the positive reviews when I became an employee six months ago (per Yelp terms of service). Now, I can write it up as I am no longer an employee. First, one of the better (great? cool? not sure the English major way to say this) mgt that I have experienced in my resto life (leave corp America and bounce around a bit and start working as a bartender/server...you learn the degrees of difference in this business) for one very big example- while closed for the remodel . . . servers were compensated for that period, as I was. But I was on medical leave after breaking my face, so they didn't have to do that. Also, mgt in general was great, but it did get a skosh too corporate for me, solid overall. Awesome sauce - I mean queso. Which leaves me to the food part of this review. The queso rocks. I guesstimate that I had (sold to?) 85% of my tables get it. That good. The quesadillas are awesome. I like the steak best but - one thing I loved about working there is that the policy is . . . make the guest (never a "customer") happy, in any and every way we can. To wit: I found a way to get a vegan customer to get a veggie one- no cheese, add extras like tomato and make sure extra mushrooms and black beans. Don't even get me started on the Chicken Fingers of Goodness. Three large,delicious pieces of all natural, hormone free chicken. Fried but so good. The nachos....please, y'all. I only had one guest ever finish the whole order and I was so impressed. They are that big. I prefer the chicken version but the ATW (with seasoned beef and chili) are very popular - and yes, though it is kinda annoying for your server and the kitchen, you can get any/all ingredients on the side. The steak philly (chicken philly is not as good) and the chicken Swiss sandwich are super, as is the Cobb Salad. The burgers are ok but not I-must-have good. Also- any server should tell you that almost any item can be omitted or substituted. But there are exceptions . . .Onion is one specific example - cannot be removed from the salsa, the queso, or the chili. Since the remodel, which I loved and still love- the place is beautiful - but there have been issues. Kitchen issues, bar issues, staff issues - even equipment issues (that Sat when the TVs went down smack in the middle of the first weekend of football totally sucked). BUT- the effort has been made and, I believe, will continue to be. The kitchen staff works hard (when have you been hollered at by seven or more people about that order you need? when have you hand-washed a ton of dishes and remained basically calm?). The servers (mostly) work hard. The bar and Management definitely works hard. We are also held to specific standards,behavior and even mystery shopping reports. Some customers are more patient and understanding than others- whether it's too long on wings at a weekday lunch, or a beer undelivered on a Saturday game day. All of that is worked to make improved, better, or - not happen at all - every time. So, bottom line? 4* stars for food when it is done right. 2-3* for timing of food and drink service when it gets busy. 1* for parking (but I'm kinda joking bc this is not TMac's fault) 5* for the new roasted wings and flatbreads (seriously, try the roasted, my fave is lemon pepper and the bbq chicken fbd is great). *7 stars for mgt and company effort. *19 stars for the fries I always want to steal from a guets's plate *10 stars - WAIT!- did I not mention the 96 beers on tap, Thu pint night (keeper glass) and options like Dogfish 120 when no one else had it? Yeah, I may not be part of the family any more....but overall, it's good stuff. read more

Used to be one of our favorite restaurants in Chattanooga but over the last year, it has changed. We have given it 3 tries in the last month or so to see if the act was together. It is not. The last trip will in fact, be the last. Food continues to be slow in arriving. In all 3 trips we had to return fries that were cold and have others made. Most disturbing was my trip to the bathroom. (see pics) It was nasty. Toilet seat covered in poop. Bugs on the wall. Gross! I had to go next door to wash my hands. I hope someone can fix this place soon. We had a full day in Chat today celebrating our daughter's 22nd Birthday. We decided to give this place a try. It was a little wait due to covid precautions. The hostess was super nice. We had about a 10 minute wait. We were a party of 5 so understandable and we appreciate the cleanses of the restaurant. Lakin was our waitress. She was super nice, she made sure our drinks were topped off during our meal. We ordered, fried pickles and spinach dip for appetizers. Delicious!
