One thing that Durango does not have is a lack of pizza or taco restaurants and Taco Libre is easily one of the better ones. Fast casual restaurant with a fun indoor seating area with various versions of Mexican wrestlers on display. We went with the shrimp, chicken, and steak tacos and my only complaint was their size as you need to adjust your seating to be able to get one of these in your mouth. Chips and salsa are solid with a salsa consisting of grilled chilis and spices. The Michelada was a nice surprise arriving with a spicy fruit roll-up straw and was great. Their margaritas lineup is fantastic with a list of unique and tasty combos. Service was quick as we had barely sat down when our food was starting to arrive at the table. read more

Cute spot and a good variety of menu items. Service was friendly and quick. The pozole was good but not great, it did not come out very warm. Less than stellar tasting queso. Why is all the queso yellow this direction? White queso has so much more flavor and is very creamy. The guacamole just needs a little seasoning for me. The tacos were delicious with flavor. My issue is when you order guacamole and queso- chips are a given- but they charge ala cart for everything. Sorry I just don't think that is a way to attract customers. I will say the inside of this establishment is filled with Nacho Libre style mask which makes it fun to sit and look around. I had higher expectations, but being the first time the the cashier made it more confusing to order or to know how the service worked. Soooo good! We ordered a variety of things to get a good taste. Street taco with steak was so stuffed with steak we put the leftover steak, onions and cilantro into our quest which was delicious on its own. The salsa was fresh and delicious. The shrimp street taco was also delicious. Our favorite was the tortilla soup. Broth was rich and delicious and it was served with avocado, sour cream, cheese, tortillas and dried chilis on the side to personalize it. Yanet, our server, was amazing. read more

This is a go to spot for lunch every time I get the chance to go back home and visit my parents. Great pre-airport pause for tacos and mex coke. As you know, the bar is my preferred seating. The bartender was courteous and efficient with the service. Three street tacos were the perfect snack; barbacoa, carnitas, and chorizo. All fantastic although the chorizo stood out. The ever so slight dig is the queso dip. Maybe I'm wrong but it seemed out-of-a-can like, and doctored a bit. Nevertheless, not a dealbreaker, and I'd visit again. Taco Libre was my alternate food location, and so happy with the decision. Really great tacos that are close to the price tacos should be. The staff here I loved, as they were welcoming and super friendly. The ambience here is great and I enjoyed the music as well. They played a lot of good music in Spanish. It was a weekday for lunch so it wasn't so busy when we came in but it started stirring as we left. Just ate lunch here for the first time. You order at the counter, are given a number and food is delivered to you. Service at the counter and food delivery was quick and friendly. I ordered two shrimp tacos and one lengua taco. Street taco size, and super delicious. I also ordered chips and guacamole, which were much larger than I expected. I shared those with the rest of the table. I met a group of 8 people for lunch and there was definitely enough space for our group. read more

We were dying for a late dinner on Friday night and having a hard time finding anything that was still open...UNTIL WE FOUND TACO LIBRE! We saw the lights on and walked in 1 minute until closing..and they were so wonderful - so we were able to order take out! Shout out to the staff and chefs for that. AND everything was DELICIOUS! Plus the vibe and decor was great. The glass bulbs above the bar area were so cool. It had booths and bar seating inside plus really nice outdoor eating area out front with string lights - we definitely would have sat there had we gotten there earlier. We got carne asada street tacos, chicken quesadillas, and a chicken burrito. I could basically eat those carne asada tacos every day for the rest of my life. The quesadilla was great, fresh homemade tortillas - yum. The burrito was chock full of veggies which I appreciated. AND the salsas were good. Hot. But good. My favorite was the green salsa. The red was the hottest of the two and smoky, my guess is it was chipotle. We also had Topo Chicos! So happy they had Topo Chico.(It's only the best sparkling mineral water in existence.) Gluten-free and dairy light eater. We sat outside. Curbside seating is really a Covid positive. I love being outside when the weather is nice. To start I ordered chips and salsa. Any good Mexican restaurant should have good starters. It was great salsa. I kept eating it. Even after I was full from my meal. Good mini tostadas. Had to order two of them to feel more full. I had carne asada meat on mine. The toppings were amazing and really made the tostada. My friend got the fish tostadas. The topping was different and it worked well for the fish. You walk in and it seems like you are supposed to order at the front with the person standing there. So, we order drinks and tacos and sit in the booth in the front near the bar. My margarita came in a plastic cup which pretty much ruined it for me. Random people are bringing out food and drinks and there did not seem to be a designated server. Since we had ordered at the cashier, I went back up to the bar to get a 2nd drink. The bartender took 5 minutes to wrap up his conversation with his obvious regulars before he asked me what I needed. I asked for another drink and he told me to sit down and the server would be over. Okay....what server? All it takes is a plastic cup and your condescending attitude to send me on my way. The food here is actually really good. The only reason I'm giving it a three star is because for some reason they have decided to go back to using plastic cups to serve alcohol in the bar and on the patio. They said they only serve glass in the "back" but I've sat there too and was also denied a glass for a $13 drink. This is lazy and is a slap in the face to all of our efforts over the years to reduce plastic. Durango is full of restaurants that care about our environment. I hope you can see the desire to be a part of that and start using glass again. read more

We stopped by Taco Libre for cocktails and lunch and were impressed immediately by the fun decor! Lucha masks everywhere and plenty of seating. We sat outside on the back patio bc Covid by a heater and the graffiti was awesome back there too! For cocktails I had the Solar at is was DELISH. A little heat and not too sweet. The Lucha Fries were amazing to start with and the flavors were great. We tried as many meats as we could with our order so we got brisket on the fries, I had chorizo and carnitas on my tortas, and carne asada in my boyfriend's burrito. All so yummy! We finished off with two more cocktails and two churros- one plain and one caramel. Perfect size and a great way to top off our meal. Great service, great food, great drinks, and awesome ambiance. They were OK but, the chips, were also covered in grease. After eating here, my stomach was upset from the grease. Not good.
