Kid's burger and fries
Blenthony M.

Came here since we were craving Mexican food on our road trip and based on reviews thought it would be a great pick. We got seated within 5 minutes of our arrival. This appears to be a home converted into a restaurant. It's cute and the Frida theme throughout the restaurant is a nice touch. Tables are closely placed to be able to accommodate more people so don't expect your conversation to be private. We could hear all the conversations loud and clear as if we were at the same table. Food wise my son got the burger and fries from the kids menu. He loved it. The fries were delicious and crispy. We also ordered the quesadilla. That was very greasy and the grease was dripping everywhere and messy. The carne asada burrito was ok. I had the combo with the taco, tamale, and cheese enchilada. Everything was delicious except for the cheese enchilada. The cheese was already hard by the time I bit into it so it was hard to cut up and chew. I am used to cheese enchiladas being cheesy and melted. Service was excellent. They always made sure we had everything we needed and was quick. When the server messed up on my taco order he brought out the correct taco without me having to tell him it was the wrong type and said it was his mistake and wasn't going to charge for the correct taco. Overall 4 stars because it is a bit noisy. Food was good. Excellent service. Service definitely makes an ok experience better.

Guava margarita

Not the best Mexican restaurant I've tried, but pretty solid for small town Durango! My giant guava margarita was light and refreshing and the juvenal's shrimp hit the spot! There's ample indoor and outdoor seating. They don't take reservations, so first come first serve, but there were lots of empty tables when we dined at 8pm on a Saturday. If u're in the mood for some Mexican food, Frida's is the spot!

The ambiance was on point. The Mecheladas were refreshing and flavorful. The grilled cheese was decent. The shrimp were very tasty. The enchiladas were very filling, and the fajitas weren't bad. Food came out decently fast. Service was fine. Overall good food.

We had a really nice experience at this busy restaurant. The outdoor seating was perfect for a late May evening, and the service was friendly and efficient, especially from our server Lorna. The mole (two different dishes) was really good, with a nice spicy kick, and the other things we ate were delicious as well. We aren't in Durango too often, but we definitely plan to be back when we return.

Walking into Frida's Cantina feels like stepping into a vibrant tribute to Frida Kahlo: bold colors, playful touches, and just enough edge to set the tone for a fun night out. The service? Dialed in. Attentive without hovering, and genuinely helpful when navigating their very tempting margarita menu. I went all in with both the Mamasita and Papasita...no regrets. Creative, well-balanced, and dangerously easy to sip. Chips came out warm and freshly fried (always a good sign), and the sizzling queso hit that perfect salty, melty note you hope for but don't always get. The avocado stuffed with shrimp starter was a standout: fresh, colorful, and a nice lighter contrast before diving into the mains. And speaking of mains... the Seafood Diablo absolutely delivered. Packed with shrimp, fish, mussels, and squid, and finished with just the right amount of heat to keep things interesting without overwhelming the flavors. If you're in Durango and want something that's a little more lively than the usual lineup, this place brings both personality and flavor. Definitely worth a stop.

Free basket of chips and salsa. $5.00 If you decide to order another basket. It was our first time here. We gave it a five star. Service & ambiance was 10/10. Food was delicious and margaritas were on point. Will recommend and come back.

Chips & Salsa

Conveniently located on Main it's casual, comfortable and family friendly. We walked over from the La Plata County Faigrounds. Chips, salsa and coleslaw were excellent and bottomless. Service was prompt, friendly and efficient. All our food was hot, tasty and beautifully presented. It's budget friendly too! We will return.

Being from Phoenix, we've eaten at a lot of really great Mexican restaurants... my husband said his entree was possibly the best he's ever had! (a steak & shrimp burrito with enchilada sauce) I had a crispy shredded beef taco and it was also up there, flavor wise! After a few days of brewery food, we needed a change of cuisine, but did not expect that Mexican food in Colorado would end up being our favorite meal in Durango! First bowl of chips & salsa are on the house, and delish. We had a team of a couple servers and they were both super helpful with both cocktail and food recommendations. We love a good cheese crisp, and we were surprised to see one on the menu. It was smaller than what you'd get in AZ, but pretty good. Kids bean & cheese burrito was yummy, too. The hostess fist bumped my kids as we entered. We love a good vibe! All the Frida (& Selena!) decor was so fun and festive, even down to the tabletops, menus and restrooms. We will definitely go back next time we visit Durango!
