So...Bland bland bland. I was hoping for more of authentic taste because the salsa and chips were fresh and the rice was good when the waitress brought my dish. I ordered the Burrito Colorado and it was a disappointment. The meat in the chile was tough, the chile colorado was more of a guisado than chile. I think I ordered wrong. Can't give anything hiring than 2 stars. Solely because my food came out with a LONG piece of hair in it!! I immediately let the manager know, and he decided to comp a few of the drinks to make up for the value of the meal with the hair in it. Overall, I don't think this was enough compensation. I would've preferred taking off a huge discount for the entire meal. I was also searching for the waiter a few times for refills and extra items we needed. As we sit here tonight this restaurant gets a 3.9 star review. I have to say that I absolutely disagree and don't understand how anyone in their right mind could walk away thinking this is anything other than 5 star. No kidding. First, the salsa is kicking. Just enough spice to make you feel alive. Salty and delicious. Ordered a Bloody Mary - spicy. Damn! It was probably the best I have EVER had. Not just good but great. Then the star of the show, the Poblano Burrito. I don't even know how to describe this perfect meld of delicious flavors. It's like a chile relleno inside a grilled chicken burrito covered in a tasty, cilantro heavy green poblano sauce. HEAVEN. Tequila's is a small place off the main drag in old town Durango. We were looking for a place to have a late lunch and stopped in on a whim. We are so glad we did! There is wonderful Mexican food where we live in Texas, but Tequilla's can hold it's own with any other Mexican restaurant I've been to. The Queso Chorizo came out still sizzling in a skillet, our meals were hot and HUGE (see the pics) and the beer was cold! We gave Tequila's a 5 because the food was that good. If we'd incorporated the service, it would have been a 4. The staff could be more attentive and friendly, we had to ask for water refills and it took a bit to get the check. If they amp up the friendliness a bit, combined with the great food, this place would be perfect. read more

Stopped by as the family and I were passing through Durango. Food was okay and now I know why. Both my wife and I got mild food poisoning afterwards. Worst part was my 2 year and 4 year old also worse food poisoning than us and have been out of commission for the rest of the trip. read more

This has been the best tasting Mexican food I've eaten in a very long time. Since Durango is on lockdown after 6pm, and there are no indoor seating, we called in a to go order to take back to our hotel. Main Street parking is very limited, but I was able to find a spot right outside the front door. (I did notice there is one spot right outside the restaurants for curbside delivery) I just walked in, and picked up our food. Once inside you really can't go anywhere, because of covid they have the dining room blocked off. There is a counter right when you walk in, and this is where your food order will be placed. When placing your order via the internet, or over the phone you will need to pre-pay which is ok by me less hassle to mess with. Just pickup your food and go. What I was Impressed with was their service with a smile, and the large selection of alcohol behind the bar. I don't know what Colorado's liquor laws are, but if they are anything like Utah's you'll just have to admire from afar, no take out for you. Anyway... back to the food. Portions were GENEROUS. We had a reservation to ride the "Polar Express" train ride so we needed to hurry and eat so we didn't miss the train. (That's a whole different review) I ordered the tortilla soup, and it was so yummy on the very first taste, and hot. I had a hard time eating it all before we had to leave, and was sad about it, because there was no way to heat it up when we got back to our room. The chips were light and airy and the salsa was fantastic. My grandson opted for the American fare of a good old cheeseburger and fries. I have to give a shout out to Tequila's, because this was the best burger he had on our whole trip. Who knew it would be at a Mexican restaurant. When we got back to the hotel after our excursion, I ate my chicken salad, and it was fantastic, the dressing was a perfect match. Lettuce was nice, and crisp and the chicken was perfectly cooked. Food was bland and cold and not very good. Very disappointed in how low quality our food was. The highlight was probably their salsa sadly. The staff were non existent for most of dinner and seemed to be having a bit too much fun. One of the waitresses was in a booth with some folks who left halfway through our meal drinking and being obnoxious. Once her friends left, she went right back to working. This left her one co-worker who was waiting tables to do so alone, and he STRUGGLED to keep up with the 4-5 tables present. Overall, I would not recommend this place. Whenever I go out of town I make it a point to try a local restaurant. I came to Durango and found this place. It had great reviews so I thought I'd give it a shot I was not disappointed! The food was delicious! I had the Pollo Poblano. This is grilled chicken served in a homemade poblano sauce (with a side of rice and beans). The chicken was cooked perfectly, it fell apart with just the fork. The sauce had a great flavor. I wish I could replicate it. The salsa served before your meal was very good as well. Let's not forget shoot the service. The waiter was great and service was fast. I got seated immediately and not too long after, I got my order taken. This restaurant is a must try if you go to Durango. I will definitely be back when I'm back in town. read more

I have always loved coming here, their salsa is my favorite and I usually leave with a cup to go. If you like Mexican food, you cannot go wrong here. A great house margarita, portions are huge and the menu has a huge variety. The food is more traditional Mexican, no no green chile for the New Mexican food lovers. Unfortunately we were greeted by a grumpy host ( I'm assuming the owner ) and Older gentleman who was not friendly or welcoming at all. No eye contact, or smile when we walked in. Lets just start with the important part in today's crazy service industry, this place offered over the top great service! We were greeted and seated right away. Chips and salsa showed up right after that with a friendly smile. We asked her about the special but she spoke little English so we just went up front and reviewed it.
