We are so grateful for Sadie and the kitchen team who managed to serve lunch to a family of 30 on very short notice! The New Mexico flavors and friendly hospitality are second to none. The appetizers, the green and red chile dishes were so flavorful and of excellent portions. The Margaritas also really hit the spot! Make sure to save a little room for the generous basket of scrumptious sopaipilla pastries. Poke a little hole in the center of the little hand pie and fill it up with honey. It's the perfect dessert! We will revisit Gazpacho the next time we are in Durango and promise to give Sadie advance notice for our large group. Be sure to ask for Sadie. Mountain town restaurants are funny places as some make their revenue from their food and others their location. Our meal at Gazpacho was interesting, but overall tasty. The steak fajitas were decent and the kids meals were OK. Service was responsive to concerns and when adjustments were made, was reflected in increased prices to the bill. There are better options in this area for Mexican food if that's what you're craving. read more

This is a typical New Mexican restaurant (in Colorado). The restaurant was clean and the service was solid. I had chicken enchiladas with green sauce. It came with beans and rice. Very nice portion! Big chunks of white chicken breast inside. My husband had the shredded pork tacos and they were very moist. My son ordered the mucho grande burrito and it was huge! The place is clean, the staff was friendly and be prepared for many levels to the place I ordered the stuffed sopopea.....my spelling of this is horrible but it was delicious. I got the marinated pork and it had lots of cheese on top, refried beans and Spanish rice accompanied it. There were two chili sauces for it, a red and a green so I got both on the side. My husband and I love coming here whenever we visit Durango. Cute spot with indoor, outdoor and bar seating areas. The avocado fries and tacos are our go-to. Unfortunately, our most recent visit did not include the avocado fries as they had run out BUT they comped an order of the Buffalo Cauliflower Bites and they were delicious! Service is always friendly. The owners take a lot of pride and are out on the floor serving and checking on tables which we appreciate as former service industry workers. The chicken was shredded and dry and had no flavor and the cheese was barely melted. I also had the tortilla soup. Great Experience. We love New Mexico style! We found Gazpacho sauces to be very authentic. We split the enchilada trio and it was excellent. We even purchased a bottle of red sauce to go. This place was literally right next door to the Wyndham Durango where we were staying. We tried it the first night we got there and sat in the bar. Very small, oddly shaped bar and restaurant with a small patio off the bar on the street. I had the 6 chicken taquitos appetizer served with guacamole and sour cream. My husband had the queso dip. The chips and salsa were good but I got a rancid chip and quit eating them. The taquitos were good and so was the queso. We decided to go there one more time later in the week because my husband wanted the taquitos. I got the green chili burger which was average at best. I ordered it medium and it was well done. I also ordered a house margarita which was better than the burger. We sat in the bar again because that's the only place to get free chips and salsa. My husband asked for a straw for his tea and the bartender handed him one...not in a wrapper and not in a napkin. Totally unprofessional. I might go back for the marg and taquitos. Had dinner there last night with 2 buddies. This was my second time, having eaten here in August. We started with the chips and salsa trio which was good. Flavorful salsas and the crisp corn chips. Two of us ordered the stuffed sopapilla with chicken and green chile. It was excellent. Chile had a nice smoky flavor and enough kick. One of us ordered the La Santa Rita, which was good, but the posole was too salty. Portion sizes were good. Looking forward to my next visit. read more

If you are looking for a mostly locals spot.... Here it is!!!! Slightly off the beaten path but still walking distance from the Train Station Gazpacho is the place for great food. Although the bar area is small they fancy themselves a Tequila bar. When I was there they didn't offer any hard seltzers, so wine or was for me. I personally love their salads. First time here. For newbies: You walk in, order, pay, get #, find table to sit, staff brings you order. I had to figure that out by myself. Food came out fast and the staff was friendly. Our hotel was close by and due to covid restrictions the local restaurant options were very limited. I'm not sure how ordering was pre-covid, but you walk in and order at the register and then you seat yourself. We opted for an indoor table as their was a very large group gathered outside. We were promptly treated and our food was delivered fresh and hot. The flavor was great and it definitely had the New Mexican flavor (vs Mexican). I had a combo of enchiladas with the green chili sauce and everything was delicious and the chili spice just right for me (a bit too Spivey for my elderly mother tho). We were excited to try a new restaurant in our visit to Durango. The staff is friendly and helpful in answering questions but we were not impressed by the food. We ordered the Santa Rita plate that includes one enchilada, a ground beef taco, rive beans and a side is pozole (which is a soup with pork & hominy) with green chiles and radishes on top. When we got the plate they served the posole on the same plate as the enchila, rice and beans. Which made everything soggy. The posole was only hominy. I asked where the pork, green chiles and radishes were and was told the they only include meat when you order a bowl of posole and that they don't have radishes but got me a side if green chiles. Would have been great to know this information when ordering the food. The taste of the food was not great! We ordered two margaritas and they were very good. The reason for my low score comes from when we got our check in noticed that the prices that they charged me for each item we ordered were $1.50 to $2.50 higher than what was on the menu per item. When i brought it up to the waiter i was told that the cost of food has increased and that printing new menu's would cost thousands of dollars. That they were planning on updating menus next year. They gave me $10 off my bill which covered the 4 items we had ordered. However, I am bothered to know that they are over charging tons of customers without them knowing it. This is BAD business! Please check your bill to ensure that you are charged appropriately. read more

Very friendly servers and staff. I had the Green Chili Stew and along with another reviewer was very disappointed as it was nothing like any Green Chili Stew I have ever had. Sometimes it's nice to be different but this is not the New Mexican Food tradition to fool around with. I might try another menu item in the future if I am in Durango. read more
