Let's start with the small menudo. If you don't like spicy menudo then this might be up your alley…read more As for me I was looking for spicy in every bite and never got it. Something that was very different about this menudo was that is was entirely meat and broth/juice there was 0 sign of hominey which is something I've never seen before. I love for my menudo to have lots of meat and some hominey but the fact that there was absolutely no hominey made me unsatisfied. I give the menudo overall a 3.5/10 I probably won't get that again here. The flautas were a 10/10 they were perfectly crispy all around, the meat was seasoned and the flautas definitely had a great portion of meat. The chicken flautas came smothere in cream and queso fresco as well as lettuce and tomato which all tasted fresh and went really well with those. The red and green salsa were really good and flavorful. The red one was much spicier than the green both complimented the flautas. Fruit cup was good and made fresh to order. The carne asada burrito with potato's and cheese was HUGE, very flavorful, a hint of spice and had lots of meat! 9.5/10 highly recommended only thing that could've brought it to a ten would be if the potatoes had some sort of crispiness to them, they were super soft and I prefer a crust-like outer layer on my potatoes. Beans were good, love that they put cheese in them just like my family does. The rice was good, I did add a little salt to it but overall good. The staff was sweet and patient, I came in with my two toddlers and they interacted with the staff and enjoyed their food

While food is at least authentic and not Texican? It is alas also authentically weak. Even the tacos were mushy microwave reheats. Salsa was terrible. Chips out of low cost bag. Rice and beans were surprisingly good, but at $15+ per entree? Them's some expensive rice & beans, partner. Best to mosey to El Jardins or any other local joint if you're going to spend so much. The staff were very nice. But the DoorDash vibe added the usual chaotic divide between diners & dashers. Restroom reeked into part of dining room but moving across the ample sized seating area took care of that.

Our server couldn't have been more friendly and outgoing. She was swamped (it was prom night with lots of formally clad students dining in) but never broke a sweat, never made us feel rushed or unattended and had a big smile from ear to ear throughout. I can't remember her name but I believe she is one of the owners daughters - and she's a real asset to the restaurant. My husband had a combination platter with all the favorites - enchiladas, taco, and a tamale, which he thoroughly enjoyed. I opted for something that was a little less---well, you know----but when in Rome---don't eat the spinach and mushrooms----get the tacos, savor the enchiladas. They know what they're doing and next visit I will lean into their expertise, enhanced by another Mexican martini. Buen provecho!

Burros Tex Mex Bar and Grill is a great, casual spot in Round Rock to grab some Tex Mex classics…read more.. it isn't going to blow your mind but you can fill up on the complimentary chips and salsa, cheese enchiladas and quesadillas, and plenty of rice and beans. It's a little overpriced for what it is but it gets the job done. FAST FACTS: * Parking - lot out from of the building with plenty of spots * Happy Hour - couldn't find updated days and hours but they do have HH specials * Lunch specials from 11 am to 4 pm Monday through Friday SERVICE - We arrived around 6:30 pm on a Monday and they weren't busy at all (although it was Cinco de Mayo and they got busier as the night went on). We were seated right away and had complimentary chips and salsa brought to the table immediately (they're very mediocre). Our server, Fatima, made sure we had refills throughout the meal and the food came out quickly. PRICING - The total was $65.45 after tax ($4.99) but before tip for a Burros queso ($10.49), shredded chicken quesadilla ($14.99), Javier's plate ($17.49), and carne asada ($17.49). For basic Tex Mex, it seemed a little overpriced but the portion sizes are good. BURROS QUESO (6/10) - This is a basic chili con queso... it's topped with ground beef, guacamole, and pico but not much. I don't think I'd order this again because it isn't worth it for the price... I'd rather just order a small chili con queso. SHREDDED CHICKEN QUESADILLA (6/10) - It's a pretty standard chicken quesadilla served with shredded lettuce, pico, sour cream, and guacamole. You do get plenty of shredded chicken inside! This is great to split as an appetizer or get as an entree. I'd order this again. JAVIER'S PLATE (6/10) - It's a good portion size but nothing special. The grilled skirt steak had a nice flavor but is kinda hard to cut up and eat. You get rice, beans, and a small tortilla cup with lettuce, pico, and guacamole. I probably wouldn't order this again because I'd rather try other things. CARNE ASADA (6/10) - Again, it's a good portion size but nothing special. The grilled chicken breast is the same price as the diced skirt steak which doesn't quite make sense to me but you get a decent amount of sautéed onion, tomatoes, serano peppers, mushrooms, and zucchini. Again, you get rice, beans, and a small tortilla cup with lettuce, pico, and guacamole. I'd order this again if I want to get in some veggies with my meal. This was my first visit to Burros Tex Mex Bar and Grill and I probably won't rush to come back because there are other Tex Mex restaurants nearby that I prefer. It wasn't bad by any means, it just doesn't stand out (especially for the price). But, in a pinch, I'd stop by again if I was nearby and in the mood for Tex Mex.

I do remember the warm sweet plantains. I have become addicted to them. Also had the shredded chicken empanadas and oh, so, good. I came back and waited about a minutes before I was acknowledged, I was sat and the waitress was attentive. I wanted to try the arepita appetizer which is normally served with shredded beef/pork or chicken on the side- to get a side of plantains instead of meat, it was going to add 3$ to the 14$ appetizer so I just opted to omit the meat all together and still had to pay the $14 ...which I don't feel is appropriate- people always wanna add money to sub a veggie for meat but never reduce the price when just removing the meat all together. Anyways, Ordered my food which was out promptly, the veggie bowl was delicious as always and the arepita appetizer (no meat) was good- reminded me of a fried potatoe cake, I used the arepitas as a vessel for my veggie bowl ! I brought the remainder of my bowl home where I bit into something very hard , once pulling it out of my mouth I discovered some beef snuck it's way into my dish- disappointing forsure but it is the first time out of about 10 times this has happened here. Prices have gone up over the last few years my veggie bowl was 18$.

The food was good, the service was somewhat good, and we had a fun time overall. They also have a nice back patio area where we were able to relax and listen to a rock cover band that was a lot of fun. My only real complaint is the plastic fork and knife. I know it seems like a small thing, but serving food that requires a knife and fork with a flimsy plastic utensil was kind of laughable and made eating my green chili enchiladas a little more challenging than it needed to be. Even with that minor issue, I'd happily come back for the drinks, live music, and laid-back atmosphere. It's a fun spot to spend an evening.
