don't get me wrong I've grown up eating taco hombre and it's always been great seeing that I place the orders online. Today I decided to get lunch with my friend in the restaurant and had a terrible experience. The woman who took my order automatically started the interaction inappropriately. She never looked up at me and I could barely hear anything she was saying, she kept touching her hair, chatting with other staff members, and acting like she shouldn't have to give me any sort of good service. Great food. The inside wasn't what I expected. It's a Mexican joint with surfing and Hawaiian memorabilia. Nothing bad about it but wasn't the environment I expected. Aside from that, the food was incredible. Great serving size. Incredible customer service. I can't emphasize how good the food is. A mixed experience. Ordered take out last night. Food was not ready upon arrival, and it was past the estimated ready time. In all fairness, it was complete chaos in the restaurant and the girls were working hard to get everyone their to go orders. Food was definitely good, but we were missing a few items. A quick phone call and the employee who answered confirmed they forgot some of our order. She apologized profusely and refunded the missing items. Will be back! This is one of my lunch go-to spots in Warwick. Over the years since they opened down the street on Main, they've certainly had their ups and downs, but I've been a regular here for months now and they have worked out the wrinkles I think. The staff is always friendly and attentive even when there is a line out the door. The days of the disinterested teenagers behind the counter are OVER. Some of the other reviewers need to adjust their standards. This is a fast, delicious, get what you see place. This is not a 5 star restaurant in the financial district, nor is it trying to be. My go-to is a burrito bowl with their excellent fluffy rice, creamy refried beans and double meat: shredded beef (excellent "taco meat" flavor, spiced, but not spicy), grilled chicken. Add in cheese, olives, fresh jalapeño, corn salsa. I've also had their regular burritos (ask for it pressed!) and quesadillas, both are customizable and tasty. The food is DEFINITELY worth the price. The days of the $3.99 burrito are gone. It's 2019, people! If you want a $5 lunch, go to Burger King down the street! I adore this place. I always have excellent service, a great meal and all for a great value. However, the food is not authentic Mexican. If you are looking for a homemade traditional Mexican restaurant- this is not the place for you. This is simply tacos and quesadillas made your way. You can put whatever you want in or not in. It's great for a group and an easy crowd pleaser. It's a healthier more home made version of a chipotle. They do have a few key traditional Mexican dishes. We've been going to taco hombre for about 10 years, on and off. Their quality and service has steadily declined. In their old location, the quality of the food and staff was much better. Most times when we go there now, something is forgotten in our order or something is made poorly. They have very little consistency in their food, so it's a roll of the dice when it comes to getting a good meal. We haven't been there in months but decided to pick up some food for dinner tonight. Well, once again, some of the food was ok, but the quesadilla we ordered for my 13 year old son was burned beyond belief. It was inedible. I want so badly for this place to be good again, but it seems like the owner just doesn't care. In fact, I rarely see the owner there at all. They can't seem to make any of the menu items with even a small amount of consistency. Just a shame. I really wish Taco Hombre would step up their game. read more

Visited yesterday with a recommendation from a friend who recently tried it... LOVED IT!! It is on the lines of a Chipotle or Moe's but oh so much better!!! I had soft tacos, my daughter a burrito - we both absolutely loved them. I also took home some food for my husband and sons, to which each equally agreed that it was really good. (Chicken Quesadilla & Beef Burrito). I also brought home some Guacamole and Salsa Verde - honestly could rank up there with the best I have ever had...this coming from a family that loves Mexican food! First of all I don't think the food is bad. I think customer service is bizarre and from my experience the employees (not all) are incompetent. On more than one occasion I've called in an order asking for items from the menu and have been asked the most annoying questions. For example, most recently I've asked for a tostada salad, specified my preferred salsa, and added chicken. The woman literally asked if I wanted just chicken in a bowl. No, I wanted the salad and everything the menu says comes with it and chicken added to it. I understand the restaurant wants the customers to be able to customize the order (like popular chains), but the person genuinely believed I wanted just chicken and salsa. (And the attitude to go along with it) My next complaint is that I never receive what should come with my order. According to the menu a tostada salad comes with avocado slices. What I got was a shell bowl filled with rice, a few other items that were correct, a sprinkle of lettuce, and zero avocado. Another occasion I ordered chicken quesadillas. I tried not to make it difficult by not adding avocado. What I received was the quesadillas and zero salsa or sour cream meanwhile the picture clearly shows it with these common dipping sides. Yet there was no offer of either and I may be wrong, but quesadillas at least come with some salsa and maybe some sour cream pretty much at every establishment that offers the dish that I have been to. The employees seem like they just want to talk to their friends and hang out. The quality of food is there, but the service is frustrating. Please advise employees to familiarize themselves with their own menu and to lose the attitude when talking to customers. read more

Was quite disappointed with Taco Hombre upon a recent visit to Warwick for the weekend. Upon entering, I was anticipating a great " Local Chipotle-esque" experience. I chose a burrito bowl with shredded chicken and a bunch of fixings, including guac. After taking a few bites, it became apparent how flavorless the food was, at least the options I chose. The shredded chicken seemed like it was boiled in water and shredded, without any seasoning. To top off the poor taste, the food was swimming in a pool of excess liquid from the chicken making it inedible. Even the guac was pretty flavorless, which I didn't even know was possible. The staff was accommodating and refunded the food, since I no longer had a taste for anything else they offered. Would not return. read more

These fresh Mexican \ Taco joints have seemingly been showing up everywhere lately. From the chain joints like Chipotle, Qdoba, Moe's etc. to the small mom & pop shops they have brought fresh ingredients into fast food. Right in downtown Warwick (what used to be Mondello's Deli for you old school Warwickians) Taco Hombre has given this store front a fresh new look both inside and out. I went with a chicken burrito, DD had a cheese quesadilla and DW had grilled shrimp tacos. All 3 of us really enjoyed our meal. On a casual night in, this is always an option for my wife and I. It's basically set up just like Chipotle. The service is great... just walk in, choose the type of meal you want (burrito, tacos, bowl, etc.), then choose your protein and fresh ingredients. For some reason Warwick has a slew of new restaurants that have opened up in town; one of them being Taco Hombre. This restaurants is located right on main street and it's a great spot to grab something quick to eat. They offer, yes you guessed it, taco's, burritos, tortas, and salads. You order right at the counter, so it lets you see and pick exactly what you want. I oped for the three soft steak tacos, loaded with salads, lettuce, cheese, sour cream, and guacamole. The tacos were very good. I was actually surprised by how tasty and tender the steak was. It's defiantly a place that I will be visiting again. read more

If could give this 3.5 stars I probably would because my shrimp tacos were very fresh and very good. That being said, be expected to order pretty much as soon as you walk in. The menu is up on the board and I felt like I was being stared down as I tried to read it. A little uncomfortable. It's a pretty casual place and small but they make do with their space. So we ordered and they bring you your food. It's a little on the pricey side considering you don't get any sides with it, but it certainly not the most expensive taco place either. My daughter had the child's chicken quesadilla and that was very good. My husband said his fish tacos were alright. My grilled shrimp tacos were very good. Every week our orders are messed up and today when finally called to state our order was wrong, we were very rudely spoken to by an employee, then put on the phone with a manager who was also rude and blamed us for how we placed the order. Ya know what always bugged me about Rocky? The guy is a hero but really isn't very good. I mean sure he wins...eventually. He had to fight Apollo Creed twice to get the victory. Clubber Lang beat the holy piss out of him in the first fight. That took two tries for a victory. Hell, Even Thunder Lips whooped the crap out of him. And even though Rocky came back, Thunder Lips is a professional wrestler. That makes his fights predetermined. He was probably booked to lose. So when you gnaw on that fact you realize when Rocky was actually fighting for his life he was getting destroyed. Rocky 4 is a rare case where he gets a W but keep in mind he showed earlier in the film that he is the worst corner man ever by letting his fighter get killed. And I don't mean figuratively. Apollo literally was killed in the ring by Drago. Rocky V saw the Italian Stallion win in an unsanctioned street fight. Had that fight have been under the jurisdiction of a boxing commission Tommy "The Machine" Gunn would have won a lopsided victory. It took that extra round for Rocky to win. And Mason "The Line" Dixon put on a boxing clinic in Rocky 6. Now, I know you're wondering what the hell any of this has to do with Taco Hombre. Well I'll tell you. Eating here reminded me of the classic line in Rocky "You're gonna eat lightning and crap thunder." Yup. But in all fairness to TH, that would be a natural reaction from any burrito place. The food was lackluster at best. Nothing tasted like anything. I had a grilled chicken burrito. It legit tasted like nothing. I had to load it up with Chulo brand lime flavored hot sauce. Basically all it now tasted like was hot sauce. This clearly explains the burning sensation I experienced 3 times today. And oh man, the guacamole was ass. That had less taste then the burrito. It desperately need more of everything. I've had better pre made guacamole from the market. Seriously, the Moe's brand guacamole at BJ's is the bomb. Even the tortilla chips needed salt. On to the positives. The staff were super nice and extremely helpful with our questions. The decor of the place had some pretty cool art on the walls. I read up on the place before going and they're are trying for the California skate and surf vibe. You ever see that movie called Surfer, Dude with Matthew Macawnahay? Good movie. I like the SoCal vibe without the San Diego gang violence. Also, your are given a nice paper cup so that you may ice your drink to the perfect level. It was quite refreshing. You can also see a creek out the bathroom window incase you need help peeing. All in all it was exactly like a Chipotle but with out the flavor. You order a bowl, taco or burrito and then tell them how you want it fixed up. I mean, it was hot food so I guess if you want a hot meal that's a plus. I did like the mom and pop feel to it I just would have felt better about the grub if I had of seen at least 1 Mexican there. One last thing. There are small posters hanging in the bathroom of extreme sports. But they weren't framed or anything. Just had burritos again tonight and the guy with the dreads makes the best burritos. He also takes care of his customers. He's courteous and quick with service. The ingredients are just perfect at this establishment. They don't strive for grass fed and organic, but they nail the authentic flavors. Again and again they have always been amazing, and again and again I always wish I was here when I get a burrito somewhere else. Today something was a bit salty and I think it was the shredded beef, but it was so tasty. Don't ever try it once. Give it at least 2 attempts, and find our buddy with the dreads. read more

Super solid little place. Decent amount of seating and fast, efficient staff. On this particular trip I had two crispy tacos, one cubed chicken and one shredded beef. The shredded beef stood out as the winner. The deep fried shells (I don't think they are corn) were stuffed with meats and toppings of my choosing - two were definitely enough to satisfy my hunger. Set up like a chipotle, this taco place also offers shrimp and fish made to order which I appreciate. I got a shrimp bowl and all the ingredients we're fresh, just be careful when going down the line to say a little because they throw a lot of each thing in. I made my bowl into a meal by adding rice beans chips salsa and a drink which was plenty. The amount of chips they give is a little ridiculous. All in all good, but check your order because my husband got a burrito that didn't make it into the bag. They we're very nice though and sent him a gift card for it. Love this place! Haven't found a 'California style' taco joint in NY yet that's as convenient as this place. Taco Hombre uses the Chipotle model for assembly line construction of their food items, tacos, burritos, burrito bowls, etc. Most items are made in-house, their guac is great, they have Jarritos sodas (yay tamarindo!) and also sell beer. I don't think I've ever been able to finish one of their quesadillas. My only caveat is that sometimes the service behind the line can be a little less than friendly - you can walk in, stand at the counter, and the employees continue on with their conversation like you weren't even there. Doesn't happen all the time, but I definitely have walked out a couple times due to that dynamic. BUT, I still highly recommend Taco Hombre! Buyer Beware: do NOT go there on Sundays. The service goes down the tubes. When the cat's away... UPDATE: I have stopped going to Taco Hombre since they moved to their new location in Warwick. Every time I went in, the customer service just got more and more bizarre. Good fresh food but they don't abide by the prices on the menu, nor are the prices for some items listed on the menu board. For example, the nachos aren't on the menu board. In the menu, the small nachos are listed as $8.25. We were charged $10.82. When I brought this discrepancy to the cashier's attention, he simply told me that the menu is wrong.
