Best authentic Mexican tacos in Bryan. Since I became a student in College Station, I had been searching for a place where I could eat authentic Mexican tacos and not a tex-mex version. Here in Taco Crave I found what I was looking for. I tired the pastor, chicken and beef tacos and they did not disappoint me. The green sauce in the mini bar was excellent. Additionally, they have orchata water right next to the sodas so you can re-fill it! This place honestly exceeded my expectations right when I thought no restaurant could even meet them. My daughter had heard great reviews, wanted my wife and I to try it. We had been wanting someone else's Mexican food (I usually make ours). Have not been impressed with Mexican food places in BCS, so we agreed to try it. They had a takeout deal on fajitas. It was a pound of beef or pound of chicken with beans, rice and white queso and corn or flour tortillas. Daughter paid extra and got a pound of beef, pound of carnitas and pound of chicken with corn tortillas. When she came in with it, it was all in a big aluminum pan. Inside all the meats were wrapped in foil separately. The corn tortillas were in foil. The beans and queso were about a half pint containers, plenty. It included chips, a red and a green salsa, sour cream, pico , cheese and onions. It was all hot. We started with salsa and chips, they were excellent. Doled out the White queso, could have made a meal on that it was so good. We had flour tortillas fresh m another place heated up and I used one of those. The beef fajita had been ordered with me in mind, so I put some on my tortilla...it was NOT beef fajita. It was carne guisada, I know Mexican food. I did not say anything because I like it as well. I took a bite...and spit it out. It was a chunk of hard fat, it would not even chew. I took a second bite, more of the same. Pretty much ruined it for me. I scrapped it all out and found chunks of soft and tender meat. But I had put some fixings in my tortilla that I would not eat with carne guisada, so it was not good. The tortilla was now cold. My daughter was watching and I knew she would be upset if I did not enjoy the meal. She had paid for it and went to get it, a lot of trouble. She and my wife were enjoying the chicken. There was not much of that left. So I tried the carnitas. I enjoy carnitas, it just was not my first choice. So I took some pieces of carnitas, and enjoyed it with rice and beans and a flour tortilla. There was still some white queso, so I finished with more of that. If I had started with carnitas I would have enjoyed the meal. The beans, rice, fixings, queso and my four tortillas would have been a very tasty meal. I give them two stars because it is MY review. If it was my wife and daughter, they would probably give it a hard three. Their big knock would be the corn tortillas were nothing that great, and you take a bite of that every time. The beans were not fresh. There were clumps of beans that were together that had not been warmed up as much as others parts. Like when beans are cooked and then put in a frig, when you scoop some out some of the cold beans clump together. You have to continue to warm them up and stir to get ALL the beans to get broken apart from the chill. The negative was being prepared to enjoy a beef fajita meal and find carne guisada, after prepping my flour tortilla for beef fajita. Then taking the first two bites and find them to be yucky texture and taste and spitting them out. And then to try a different meat, but not going with a fresh tortilla was a mistake. The corn tortillas were not "home made", they were some you could buy in HEB or someplace, so no special treat there. Did they run out of beef fajita and substituted carne guisada? Did the employee not know the difference? Is the establishment actually preparing the beef fajita this way? My wife and daughter were very happy with their meals. The queso, chips and salsas were a big win. But The meal was supposed to be beef fajitas, that was what we paid for, it was thrown away because I would not anymore of it and the wife and daughter do not enjoy beef fajitas. At this point, I am disappointed. I am unsure if I would give them another shot. Maybe if I went with chicken? But I do not see going in for a second choice, being unsure if I ordered beef fajitas if I would GET beef fajitas. Just go in and get the white queso and chips and salsa is my plan if I visit again, and consider trying the chicken only. All things considered, before you order beef fajitas, ask to see the product BEFORE you place an order. read more

Finally! A local business that doesn't overdo the Tex in the TexMex. Living my best halal life (think kosher for Muslims) means I didn't get to try any of the meats, so check out one of the other reviews for that (my friend said the beef was mad fresh, so seems solid). But I'm getting ahead of myself. I went to Taco Crave the last Saturday of March 2018, the night before Easter Sunday. The restaurant was kind of dead around 730- we left at closing and the whole time there were maybe 5 other groups that came in (2 to go orders). I'm not sure if the low traffic was because of the holiday or people just don't know about it- I hope it's the former because this place is GOOD! The people behind the counter are really sweet and so humble. They were very patient with all of my questions- lord knows I always have plenty. They heat up the tortillas (which aren't made onsite unfortunately- if they were this place would be a 5 star) on the grill right in front of you and then ask what all you want loaded in. I ordered a quesadilla and it's bigger than my face! And super messy. They loaded it with cheese, a spinach and mushroom mixture, and the refried beans. That sucker is messy! Ask for sour cream as well- no extra charge. In the back left corner, they have numerous salsas, pico, and cilantro. Go for the habanero sauce in the back of the cart, you'll thank me later. It's got a good kick without being overpowering. Overall, a clean place with nice staff. Great food that I'll be back to try again. Next time I'll remember to take pictures as well. read more

Where do I start?! We were greeted by warm friendly faces as soon as we walked in the door. We went around 7:45PM and I was worried that we might get the typical attitude from employees who are ready to start cleaning and close the doors(they close at 9). But what we got was far from that. Megan and David were so wonderful! We told them we'd never been and they were quick to describe each and every food they had to offer. They answered our many questions, described flavors for us and let us taste test pretty much every meat they had. We both got the taco plate which comes with 3 tacos and 2 sides. I did ask if the tortillas were homemade and was a little bummed to find out they aren't BUT they still had pretty good flavor and texture in my opinion. I got a pastor, asada made with pork and their signature chicken with a side of fideo which I've never had in my life, and a side of rice. I was surprised to see white rice BUT it did have some flavor to it that I enjoyed. I practically inhaled the fideo. I also tried the Mazanita Sol Mexican Apple Juice, I loved it. The boyfriend got pork carnitas, asada, and mixed the spinach and mushroom with the chicken. He had zero complaints and I think his eyes rolling back in his head was proof enough that he was in heaven. He tried the refried beans and also had the fideo. We tried their green tomatillo sauce which has just enough spice so as not to run me off lol I was more than satisfied especially for the money spent. In total we spent around $22 and left full and happy! They have a decent beer selection too! We were so full we didn't try any desserts but I'm excited to get back and try some different tacos and their Arroz con leche or Tres Leches Cake! These are the freshest tacos you can find in the BCS area for the price. The customer service here is absolutely incredible which makes me even happier to give them my money. This is one of several owned by folks from Mexico who want to serve real Mexican street tacos. Closest thing in town I can think of is Taco Bar in College Station. I think I like that place better, BUT I will try this new one again as they have interesting things on offer (see photos). I got three tacos on corn, which were quite small. No matter as all I wanted was a snack. The tacos were gone in six bites. You may want 6! I got pastor, carnitas, and something called "crave meat" which was the best..small cubes of meat in a very spicy sauce. The pastor was nice, but the carnitas were kind of bland. Tortillas appear store bought, not house made. Orders come with ok refried beans and white rice...very simple. There is a little stand with green and red salsa and pico, onions, and cilantro.
